  1. Not just news around the state, but around the country as well (if Connecticut and New York count). I've already received comments and/or been asked things along the lines of....."hey, big news out of Denton" and "how do you feel about bringing up a HS coach?" and "what's up at North Texas?" Definitely generating buzz. Keith
  2. I said they could sign a one-year deal for up to $500,000 without BOR approval. I get it. I'm saying the entire contact could be for one-year (or six months or nine months or whatever) and as long as the value of the entire contract does not exceed $500K they already have the necessary authority to execute. Keith
  3. Seems like it's the old "Congratulations, you are pre-approved up to $xxxx" type of arrangement which make is easier for RV and Dr. G. to maneuver. Makes a lot of sense to me. No telling what they are pre-approved for, but if sounds like they could have signed a one-year deal with a base salary up to $500,000 without seeking BOR approval. Keith
  4. Looks like the stadium is situated between two roads. Where have I heard that before? Keith
  5. Do not buy into this mid-major crap. It is nothing more than a long term effort to separate the haves from the have nots. Something about cooking a frog by starting out with cool water and heating it slowly comes to mind. If we accept this as our position then they will have won without a battle. Keith
  6. 1) It's not like the HC is a one-man recruiting machine. Everybody on the staff plays a role in recruiting. What sort of staff would he put together, how does he manage them, what role does he take putting together a game plan, how does he "coach" during a game? 2) Hopefully you bottom out above where you were the last time you bottomed out (growth and progress). 3 and 4) I guess that is what you find out. Does a coach show flexibility in adapting to the talent he has or does he stubbornly do the exact same thing over and over regardless of talent, match up or game situation? Part of this is a risk/reward scenario. I'm not saying that Dodge is a risky investment, but typically with higher risk, you expect the potential for a higher return. If you are risk adverse, buy a CD and be comfortable with what you get. Keith
  7. That actually makes a lot more sense than what we've been seeing from the coaching staff. Keith
  8. Aaahhhh.....OK.....Now I get it. Keith
  9. Sounds like he was as pissed as the rest of us. Unfortunate result, but I like the passion to win! Keith
  10. Great job Guys. Way to bounce back...on the road to boot. Keith
  11. Well, he has now....Just saw him out there on D. Keith
  12. Yeah, I probably should have been more specific....I meant I don't think he has played yet on defense. Keith
  13. I don't think he has played yet. Keith
  14. Rutgers is in the Big East which is a BCS conference. The only one crashing the party is Boise State. Keith
  15. Hopefully, One who (like UTEP's Price) can have UNT ranked in the Top 25 in his 2'nd or 3'rd year in Denton and One who after Rick V announces the high profile name coach the MG Nation buys thousands of season tickets in a matter of hours are one and the same. Keith
  16. That's the question that should have been asked of DD over the last 9 years. Time to move on. Keith
  17. Actually, his goal was just to keep it close all the way into the 4th quarter. The mission was accomplished so no need to do anything foolish. Keith
  18. I think 11,103 for a regional opponent was a major "sign" of dissatisfaction. Over the last few years we've had all sorts of golden opportunities to take major steps forward at the state, regional and national level with respect to public perception about North Texas football. We've squandered away all of them. This year the table was set again with a reasonable schedule and key "recognizable" opponents for our home games. Throw in homecoming, parents weekend, etc. and we could have easily (should have) moved our home attendance average near or above 20,000 for the year. Instead, it looks like we'll be taking a step back. What a waste. Keith
  19. OK, but I doubt that the governor is personally involved in the identification, recruiting and selection of BOR members. I suspect the Governor appointment is merely a formality. So I guess the question is, what is the real process? How does in individual get to the point where the Governer actually makes the appointment? What is the term of a board member? Are they paid? How much? Keith
  20. I'd like to know how members of the BOR are appointed, elected, nominated, confirmed or whatever. Who does it? Is it a political thing? Can you apply? What are the minimal qualifications to be a member of the BOR? I'm sure it's out there somewhere. Anyone know? Keith
  21. He burned two timeouts in our first possession.... loss of 1 on the play following the first TO and a false start penalty for -5 yards following the second TO. He also tends to run in the wrong direction when pressured. V 1-10 V17 NORTH TEXAS drive start at 09:14 (1st). V 1-10 V17 Thomas, Jamario rush for 18 yards to the NT35, 1ST DOWN NT (Johnson, Tyrell). 22. Based on the number of pics at the web site, they are really, really proud of that staircase. Keith
  23. In our three Sun Belt games we have scored a total of 26 points. I'm not counting the 7 attempts from the 25 yard line in the FIU game (which was like another whole game of possessions with incredible field position!). I belive the offense scored 24 of the 26 which leaves us with a whopping 8 points per game average! So you are correct, scoring 20 points in 7 minutes would be unheard of. We'd need 3 games to do that. Keith
  24. No hard facts, just this fan's observation....this does seem to be an historical trademark of DD/RF. Clock management has never been something that sticks out as a positive. Yes, it seems that for some reason it gets worse with DM in at QB, but it's not just DM. Keith
  25. Shocking in the context of location, location, location and the squandered opportunities and potential. Keith
