North Korea Launched Missile
keith replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I think a very sternly worded letter is probably on its way or maybe just a text message. That's about all we'll get. Hey, I did say "very." Keith -
During greetings prior to a group photo op at the recent G20 summit, President Obama bowed before the King of Saudia Arabia showing great deference to the despot of one of the world's most oppressive monarchies and home of many of 9/11 terrorists. IMHO, the President should never bow to ANY other head of state. What a discrace for a sitting president of the United States of America. I guess he is just doing what comes naturally or instinctually to him. Keith

Now They've Gone Too Far
keith replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Trees are a renewable resource. And while they are growing they are sucking in all that nasty CO2 and emitting O2. Seems like a win-win situation if you ask me. BTW, if we continue this crazy obsession with cutting down on CO2 would the trees and all the other green plants suffocate? What to do then? Keith -
$410 B In
keith replied to eulesseagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Actually, I believe he said, "not a single earmark." Little did we know he meant there would not be any legislation with just one earmark. Obama and his cronies intend to tear everything down so they can remake it all in their own image. Keith -
Exactly, and our acceptance of the mid-major label will make it that much easier. As long as we allow others to tarnish our "brand" with this this mid-major crap with impunity, the argument will be pretty simple. They can simply say that they are just formalizing something we already agree with. Say no to the mid-major BS. Keith

Federal Obligation "exceeds"
keith replied to eulesseagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Obama spent more time picking out a freaking dog for his kids than he did spending a trillion of our dollars. What a joke. No one had a chance to read the bill. It stll had post-it notes and hand written edits in the margins. As a typical example, $100,000,000 was crossed out and $150,000,000 was penciled in. Just that quickly someone spent another $50,000,000. As Rahm Emanuel says, never let a good crisis go to waste. Our government is out of control. For those who voted for change......here it is....... $1,000,000,000.00 ... and Obama is just getting started. Keith -
Deep and permanent tax cuts are the way out. Not only for individuals (the only entity on the planet that really pays taxes), but for all businesses too. If the US had the guts to cut corporate/business tax rates to, say, 5% there would be flow of capital into the U.S. that has never been seen before. For all the bleeding hearts that only want to raise taxes, you are free to pay more taxes if you want to. Nothing prevents you from sending the Feds your money....you know being "patriotic" and all. Obama's feigned "disgust" over the bonuses is laughable. He's just pandering to the left and media and it seems like a lot of clueless people buy the drivel that comes out of his mouth. Remember when Congress said they were going to "cut" or "restrict" executive bonuses as part of that first emergency bail-out? Well that didn't mean the bonuses were actually getting cut, what it meant is the government was going to tax a larger percentage of the bonus. They wanted the bonuses paid out so they would get more money. Plain and simple....the government wanted its take. A lot of firms actually did exactly what the government did NOT want them to do. They took bonuses to zero. Now, the state of New York is missing about $15 Billion in revenue that they would have taken on the taxes of those bonuses. So, in this "stimulus" package you have billions and billions of transfers from the Federal government to states like New York and cities like New York City to make up for these revenue shortfalls. The best thing our Federal government can do is do nothing. They all need to go back to their home states for about 6 months and just shut up. Keith

Obama Closes Gitmo

OMG, you cannot be serious. You think they just need a hug or something? You do realize that they want to kill you just because of who you are and what you represent? Keith -
Obama Sworn In Again
keith replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I'm almost positive when LBJ took his oath on the plane after Kennedy was assassinated they did not have/use a bible. I think they found some religious prayer book of JFK's and used that as a substitute. Who was the 3rd? Keith -
Obama Sworn In Again
keith replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Without The Bible this time. I don't really care one way or the other, but it might make for a good Trivial Pursuit question in a decade or so. Keith -
Where is our truck load of bail-out money? That's what I want to know. Keith

Breaking: Life Exists On Mars
keith replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
OMG, methane is a greenhouse gas! Mars is now in the process of potentially catastrophic climate change. Someone should do something....Congress should pass some laws. We have to save Mars before it's too late!!! Keith -
Dude, this isn't an ethics in journalism message board. This is a University of North Texas Mean Green FAN board. We are *all* biased here. Keith
-
Man, I hope that is not speculation. I hope that is simply the way it is and every position, every year is up for grabs. Keith

Even the NCAA has restrictions....i.e. players transferring from one D1 school to another D1 school have to sit out a year. For the NCAA to step in on anything related to D1 football is IMHO laughable. Either reasonable restrictions are the norm and allowed or all restrictions should be completely removed and there should be a free flow of players from institution to institution without any restrictions whatsoever (wouldn't *that* be fun!). Keith

I don't get all the consternation and hand-wringing over a player. At, what, 3-17 as a starter I'm not sure we are losing that much to be honest with you. Usually all the love in this situation is reserved for the back-up QB. Based on the reactions, Vizza must be the greatest 3-17 quarterback in the history of football. The University and football program are bigger than any player or coach. They (players and coaches) come and go all the time. I do think it's funny how Vito takes every opportunity to pat himself on the back -- "breaking" stories and all. Based on reading this board over the last 5-6 weeks this has been swirling around for quite some time. I'm not sure how taking something that gets handed to you and printing it is breaking a story, but whatever floats his boat. If he really wants to do some reporting, how about getting the story behind the story? Keith

This is the longest minute......ever......

OMG....this mid-major crap has invaded swimming too! Respecting mid-major polls is like getting a little pat on the head with some condescending fatherly voice saying something like, "I'm so proud of you, just get out there and keep trying and one of these days I'll let you carry my gym bag." The art of war is to get your enemy to accept defeat without ever firing a shot. That's exactly what's happening to schools like North Texas that continue to allow this crap. Our AD needs to get on the phone with every organization that publishes mid-major poop and demand that our University be removed. Anything less than that is acceptance on our part of a lower classification than we are entitled. We are either D1 or we are not. Mid-major is just the new 1-AA (or worse). Keith

It would be nice to see the team play like they are pissed. Keith

Congratulations To The National Champions..utah Utes.
keith replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
My, my, my.....so many BCS apologists right here in Mean Green land. Apparently the brain washing is working. The BCS is a crock of you know what. How ludricous is it to declare before each season even starts that the "champion" can only come from these few annointed conferences? Acutally it's really worse than that. There are only a chosen few schools that compete for the "championship" each year. Going back to 1992 starting with the Bowl Coalition and Bowl Alliance "champions" the precursor the the BCS, a whopping twelve different, count 'em .... 12 .... have played in the annointing, er, "championship" game. Nine of these 12 have played multiple times. So basically, while 120 schools play D1 football, only a select few have been pre-selected for the privledge (almost like a birth-right or something) to wear the crown. It's down right un-American. Count me as one who is sick and tired of watching the same 12 schools "compete" for the championship each and every year. Keith -
Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. I switched my entire house from incandescent lights to the "more efficient" ones. I am replacing bulbs more frequently, not less frequently and I haven't changed my lighting habits like leaving lights on because they consume less electricity or anything like that. Plus these new bulbs contain mercury so are probably a lot worse for the environment (in manufacture and disposal) than "classic" lightbulbs. I'm thinking this is all a scam. Anyone else have the same or different experience with the new-fangled light bulbs? Keith Oh, I almost forgot.....Go Mean Green! Also, talk about moving at a snail's pace for the stadium.

I didn't get to listen to the game last night and had not heard the final score.....reading through this thread was almost as exciting. It was like following the ups and downs live. Thanks for the effort and dedication. Keith

Do not accept, pay attention to or in any other way recognize this mid-major poll crap. Either we are a D-1 program or we are not. This is nothing more than a concerted effort to have the "mid-majors" voluntarily accept a lower class designation and continue to create a separation between the haves and the have-nots. Just say no to mid-major! Keith
