What movie is that from? Keith

Oh sure, but not in a row. Keith

Maybe it's a music school thing. *They* are ranked number two in the nation. We check in at number 16 (but always seem to rate ourselves higher). At least that's the ranking according to this site. I've never been in the "at least our band is better than your band" crowd, but what the heck. Keith

They already have all the money. This is to make sure no one else gets any of it. Latest I've heard is Mizzou, WVU and TCU join A&M in the SEC. This is getting crazy. Whoever described this a musical chairs is right. Keith

100% agree. Definitely Kellen Moore. Keith

We were saving space for Houston's band ;-). The view from the "tips" is actually pretty nice. It is just a long way up and down if you want something from concessions of have to use the restroom. Those were also probably in the sun the longest, so people squeezed lower in the section or simply stood along the lower bowl railing. Keith

I'm eating one of those frozen strawberry things and there is a spooky disembodied head floating behind me. Keith

There's a Houston fan doing (learning) the Eagle talon hand sign. Maybe a new convert. He's in the corner of the lower bowl section under the play clock about half way down. Go Mean Green! Keith

Boooooo! Was on campus today. Lots of signs about the game, lots of Mean Green gear being worn by everyone. Stopped by Apogee Stadium to walk around and students were lined up at the ticket office picking up their tickets and they kept coming and coming. Should be a great day. Keith

Great win! Congrats to the Mean Green Soccer team. Keith

Answers for parking/tailgating
keith replied to Eastwood Eagle's topic in Mean Green Ticket Exchange
Agreed. You have to pay to park, right? If you want to sit in a parking lot and hear what you are missing, you should be able to. What are they going to do, make people leave if they don't go to the game? Keith -
It wasn't the heat as much as it was the humidity and then realizing exactly what it was that caused the humidity!! Keith

Debt Ceiling
keith replied to Dr. Seuss's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
If I understand it, Washington has plenty of money coming in to service our debt and most of the other things the government spends money on (defense, social security, medicare/medicaid, etc). What we would not be able to do is cover all the discretionary spending Congress likes to do. They tell you we will default on our debt (we won't) or that Social Security checks will stop (they won't). This is a classic government tactic to raise fear and uncertainty. What it all boils down to is they simply want to keep borrowing so they can keep spending money on their pet projects. Keith -
Anthony Weiner Resigns
keith replied to FirefightnRick's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Update....He submitted his formal letter of resignation today. It is effective at midnight, Tuesday, 6/21/2011. He has a weird signature too. Keith -
Anthony Weiner Resigns
keith replied to FirefightnRick's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
....or did he? He did hold one of the most bizarre news conferences in recent memory, but he has yet to submit his formal resignation letter to The Speaker. His Congressional office is still fully staffed. Lots of speculation up here....he may actually run in the special election (if one is necessary) and let "the people" decide. Or they may take a page out of the Clinton playbook and run Huma for his open seat. Amazing. Keith -
Government employee labor unions are very dangerous IMHO. Going back to our history lessons we were taught that labor unions were vital and important in order to protect workers from being abused and exploited by the evil and greedy capitalist owners. Fine, we all got that. But here, we're talking about protection from the government, aren't we? The same entity the traditional labor union look to in order to enforce contracts or resolve disputes. Really? Let's see how this works. Government employees organize in a union and then campaign, support, elect (using their membership numbers) govenment officials. Then they blackmail the same government officials they just put in office (I mean negotiate with the government officials) on their contracts (pay, benefits, pensions, etc.) using their ability to keep or remove them from office as a major factor in the blackmail/negotiation (or maybe it is just payback for the most recent election). Governmnent employee unions are in a position of strength and extract consessions from the government (i.e. taxpayers) as part of a never-ending political process of quid pro quo that ensures the same government officials return year-after-year and government employee unions are rewarded with uber-generous contracts. If you can't beat 'em, get your government (I mean owners) to increase taxes on the competition. GM CEO Wants to Increase Federal Gas Tax It will take a lot of 30-40 mile trips to cross the 80K mile break-even. Are Electric Cars Actually Bad for the Environment? But then again, what business does anyone have venturing more than a few miles from their place of residence. Certainly 20 miles is a fair distance and probably way more than enough. I mean really....everyone just needs to stay where they are. Keith

One of the principle problems with "renewables" such as wind and solar is that sometimes the wind doesn't blow or the sun doesn't shine. When that happens, the power still needs to be supplied and that is done by "traditional" power generation. So, every kilowatt potentially provided by renewal power sources also needs to be accounted for (and the capacity to supply it needs to be increased) on the traditional side. So renewable power is at least twice as expensive...the cost of providing the already expensive renewable power itself *plus* the cost of expanding the traditional power grid to supply that same power demand when the renewable cannot. So for those that think they are sticking it to the power company by putting up turbines or solar panels, that's probably not the case. Keith

28,000? Is that right? Keith

I thought it was more of a chicken fling. Who spilled the Coke on the floor? And yes, any time there is a possibility of making some random TV crowd shot, you are supposed to wear your Mean Green attire. Everybody knows that. Keith
