I was super impressed with Mestenmaker today. Throws a good ball, maneuvered in the pocket well, and knew where to go with the ball. Clearly understood the offense. I wouldn't be mad if he was starting for us next fall.

We're about to find out how good of a quarterback whisperer Eric Morris. No experienced QB at the helm and a walk-on true freshman that didn't even play QB in high school instead.

100% agree. Players should be allowed one "free" transfer, i.e. they get to transfer one time without having to sit out a season. Any transfer after that and they have to sit out a season like the days of old. It's not the money that is necessarily killing college athletics, it's the constant revolving door of players. Just as @Rock said, it's hard to support a program made of players who only care about their stock and could give a damn about the program or our university.

This right here makes it harder and harder for me to invest in the program. Very sad that this is the state of college football, especially for non P4 schools. We are just a breeding ground for kids to get better and move on. If we have a high school recruit produce, they're gone. If we have a transfer produce, they're gone. I'm all for these athletes being compensated but they've got to get some guardrails on this thing.

We knew this was going to be a tough stretch. I would have been happy if we had one of the three. We had our chances against Memphis and Army but shot ourselves in the foot. Friday night is going to be a huge game for us that we need to win. Not sure what to make of UTSA seeing that they beat Memphis but one thing is for sure, they are going to show up to play. We better be prepared.

Third time's a charm? Our only saving grace is that we're coming off of a bye week and have two full weeks to prepare for their offense. I'm hoping we can somehow scheme and have the defensive game of our lives. With that said, I'll believe it when I see it. I do expect a good crowd as well. Ranked opponent coming to town. National TV. And Army travels well.

Case in point on that 3rd down play just now. Simply can't tackle.

My point exactly. And like you point out, it seems like every time we do make a play, our opponent somehow gets an extra yard or two out of the play when they shouldn't. We don't bring down guys at the point of attack. In a game of inches, it's even harder on our defense when what should be 3rd and long is now 3rd and 2 or 3 to go. I will also point out that our defense played a great second half. Only points we allowed because of short fields that our offense / head coach gave them.

Poor recruiting and poor coaching are two different things, as you just stated. I agree that both are Caponi / Morris responsibilities. But there are factors outside of the coaches that prohibit us from getting good recruits.

How many missed tackles have we had tonight? I can't count that high. Players have to make the play at the end of the day.

Naturally. We just have no playmakers on defense. We are undersized and can't tackle. And we NEVER create turnovers. EVER.

Too often our guys are in the right position to make a play and they simply don't. For me, our defensive woes are more on the players and not the coaches. We just don't have good players on the field on defense. Plain and simple.

That we are no longer a part of this hell hole of a conference. Outside of Liberty and a surprisingly decent Sam Houston team, this conference is absolute trash. No matter how things continue to shake up with future conference realignment, we need to be thankful that we're in the American.

No more Frisco Bowl please. Need a change of scenery. And a bowl W for that matter..........

While I agree that they don't look good, they still have enough time to turn it around. And the talent to do it. But as the announcers mentioned, an automatic bid is in question for them given the recent bad losses that they've had.

Great first half but we didn't close strong over the last two minutes. Need a strong start to this second half to keep UAB out of striking distance.

You have to know the situation. We gave that game away by not holding for the last shot. So frustrating.

We've given up 7 easy points off in bounds from underneath their own basket. Gotta fix that in the 2nd half.

Make no mistake, this was a good get for us. He has played well when he's had the chance, completing 66% of his passes for 16 TDs along with 5 INTs. And he's a coaches son so he understands the game of football. Let's be honest with ourselves, we're going to get two types of QB transfers. One moving up from a smaller school or one moving from a P5 in order to get playing time. Chandler Morris fits the latter and should be a good fit for our system.

Going to have to rely more on the post game for scoring. Need Sissoko from the WSU game to show up again today.

Sissoko looking strong tonight. Playing great defense and solid rebounding. We need that for the 2nd half. And Scott to stay calm and out of foul trouble.

Cost us the game in my opinion.
