  1. They had some really good football teams in the 50's. We (Ferris) tied them 0-0 in our bi district game in 1959. They ere big (for class and tought and led by a big strong fast running back named Doak Walker - not the one of SMU fame. My kids were unaware that orphanages had athletic teams but Buckners in Dallas was alway a tough game too. Ferris won our district 7 years in arow beating teams like Desoto, Cedar Hill, Wilmer-Hutchins, Midlothian, Rockwall, and Forney so we knew ehat tough was as we were normally the team with the smallest players.
  2. The down side is we can forget UA and A&M coming to play in our new stadium along with UT and OU. We will have to shoot for OK State and TTech and maybe some SEC schools.
  3. I have been following UNT since 1960 but do not recall when we were conference mates with Southern Miss.
  4. Have a wonderful birthday PMG! Hope you can celebrate with a win!
  5. Our 4 will be there. Lets show our appreciation to the team especially the seniors AND we are still in reach of hitting a 20,000 average.
  6. I am delighted to see that all three have a connection with UNT not just with the governor.
  7. BLOCKED PUNT!!!!YEEEEEEHAW!!!!!!
  8. Roman lost his shoe?? At least he is trying to catch the ball tonight. The first punt he had a good return offset be a penalty.
  9. I am 66 and my experience is that people who play rhe race card are the true racist and they are found everywhere.
  10. Anyone else note Mack Brown's comments on booing in today's DMN? Some people live in a dream world.
  11. When Roman thrice allows the ball to be downed inside the one some one needs to be called out. You either fall on the ball - the 6 yard line is better than inside the 1 -are block the man going by you to down the ball. Some one should be able to figure that out. The coaches are experienced and he is an upper classman (transfer). There is no reason a player at this level can not catch a punt. I do agree with you wholeheartedly about the fans leaving early. We were not out of it until late in the 4th. Stay and support yhe team and coaches.
  12. Heard lots of compliments on the men's resteoom last night. Must ha been first timers back for homecoming. Hope they are back to Navy.
  13. One way to impress them is to have a large crowd with lots of enthusiasm. Keep criricism to a minimum.
  14. To those impatient ones....... When a new coach takes over at any level (even the NFL), he often will sit players that give him a better opportunity to win today, for players that will give him the best chance to succeed in the future. The exceptions are schools like OU that are constantly retooling instead of rebuilding. TD is completely rebuilding. He is starting and playing a lot of freshmen. Some of them are true freshmen. It is true that DD might have been able to squeeze and extra win or two out of this group this season. But, the goal for everyone on this board should be to take the program to the next level. We were not getting there with DD. We do have a chance with TD. Please, please have patience. The team is rebuilding. Any time there is rebuilding there is usually a step backwards before real progress can be made. Do not mistake this for a lack of progress in the long run. It's a rough season for everyone. Criticizing the team right now is both premature and unnecessary. THESE ARE THE SAME COMMENTS MADE BY KENTUCKY'S COACH BROOKS. THIS IS SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. We knew we were in a rebuilding mode. I will continue to come to the games and support the team and watch for improvement - each game and each year.
  15. The DMN reported attendance of 22,000 plus for the FAU game which would give us an average of over 20,000 now. Was the DMN report wrong?
  16. In route to the Arkansas game Friday evening a sports talk show had a call in time. One of the callers - an Arky - was at the 1968 game in the end zone and set the winning NT pass was complete - however after a long delay the officials declared it incomplete. Arkansas refereeing has not improved.
  17. Cotton Bowl - I was there and watched latter Cowboy Golden Richards.
  18. I have been to Little Rock a couple of times and now to Fayetteville. The fans are always friendly except a couple of kids who came up late in the game primarily to agitate one extra loud UNT fan. I did go to the UNT tentd and everyone seemed to be in their on little groups. The free food I was emeaied about did not seem to be their. Their were a few trays - unopened - on one table which seemed to be "guarded" by those around it.
  19. Row 12, seats 33-39
  20. We have 6 seats in 112, row 12 including my 2 Arkansas grandsons wearing their latest Mean Green shirts.
  21. Bill McWaters from Donie - 1960-Minnesota Vikings was omitted. Best all time has to be Little Abner with Ray Renfro and Cobbs close behind.
  22. There are no backs there. Stadium seats must be no larger than 16 inches in width and height.
  23. They did 26000+ with TT who has a big fan base in the Metroplex. We need to show SMU, TCU,and the fans we care about our program and support our team sufficiently that they should be playing us every year to boost their attendence. There shoul be enough UNT fans present to make it a sellout. Even if you have to get SMU tickets now you can wear green and help make the point. SOME PEOPLE ARE WISE, OTHERS OTHERWISE
  24. AnotherEagle is right on. I hope those who might do such find that if they ever lose their job have some of their former "friends" call the new employer and apply the same tactics. Fair play? Total classlessness!!!!
