I would love to come bit I weill be IN Bentonville (from Texas) for two grandson's birthday. I would bring them like I did ti the Arkansas game but other family will be there too.

How many fans are not showinf up at A&M games despite there disgust with Francione or did at Texas during Akers last days. True fans support the school. Those fans are the ones deserving input on the coahes status. A good excuse is illness or my wife having to go to a wedding for a good friend of hers. I was at the game. I would like to see NT Security clear the parking lot once the game begins. If they just want to party let them go to someone's home.

QUOTE(GoMeanGreen1999 @ Oct 7 2006, 11:18 PM) Please tell me you are kidding me that people ACTUALLY stormed the field. IF so, that is why so many people across the country think the Sun Belt is a joke. You who were not there because you could not or those who just chose not missed an exciting historical moment in NT history. You will never be able to understand the excitement from the fourth quarter to the end. Every play was a game breaker. The defense was very good. The OL was not. I would tend to play the youngsters. Theywill make mistakes too, but the experience will help them next year. Some doubted DD in the 4th quarter when we kicked a field goal rather than try for a TD and 2 to tie. He apparently had more faith in the offense than did the fans. I stayed to the end despite facing a 75 mile trip home and needing to be at church early on Sunday morning. The most heartening things I took from the game was Meager's leadership, the excitement and emotion of the players, and the respectul way theyconducted themselves in the post game interviews with George. How many players on other teams know the word "sir"?

The best version of the National Anthem
BleedGreen64 replied to greenjoe's topic in Mean Green Football
I too love and respect thr National Anthem and have none for those who disrespect it. The night of the Middle Tennessee game I was in the Mean Green Club Deck. While the anthem was played one if the female servers for the drinks continued a dialogue with another female. I did express my displeasure with her. I did not make it back there this week but I intend to for the La Tech game and I do hope they are employing an American. If not I will remind her of our discussion unless her respect has changed. Does anyone know who employs them - the school, Ben E Keith or whom? -
On the postgame show Saturday George and the gang researched and fund the last time we had a conference game shutout at Fouts was when Hayden Fry was coaching and I beleve it was to McNeese in the late 1970's.

You have to very LOOSE to LOSE so many games.
-
By not coming to the games you only hurt the program. Fan support and attendance are essential. Recruits can not help but look at the sories on Sunday morning and see the schools drawing 30,000 up and those who can not average 20,000. Which teams would you want to play for? From time to time I see where music students are given a bad rap on this board. Last night I sat at the table with two former members (class of 200) of theGreen Brigade who not only attend the games but joined the Mean Green Club.

Thanks for putting our loss in the proper perspective. I always support the Sunbelt teams and if we can not win this year I would not mind at all if theBlue Raiders represented us in the New Orleans Bowl. I may wll even be there to watch and cheer the conferenc on.

We had been gone all weekend and were tired and faced a 90 mile trip home so we only left in the third quarter. I WII BE BACK next week because I am a Mean Green fan. However this was probably the most embarrassing lost I have wittnessed by my team in the 46 years of watching.

N Y Jets website http://www.newyorkjets.com/ "Spencer, 6-2, 245, was originally a sixth-round selection of the Oakland Raiders. Last season, the North Texas State University product, led the Tennessee Titans in special teams tackles with 21. Entering his third NFL season, Spencer has appeared in 23 NFL games." Depth chart has him as #2 LOLB. Brad Kassell is @2 MLB

Signed by the NY Jets. Joining Brad Kassell. 2 Linbackers cut but another one signed.

The WAC is not a good option. This is why we need to "work" the desirable CUSA schools and take them in rather than lump us in with the leftover wannabes.
-
Did you note the scores and records of the other non BCS conferences for this season including how theyhave faired against 1AA, non BCS, and BCS teams?

The Sunbelt quality is rising each year and if WKU comes in next year it will only make thans better. When the Big East expands to 12 they will take in Memphis, CFU (travelling partner for F. FLa.), Marshall (if not blackballed by W. VA) and E. Carolina. The SBC needs to be talking to So. MS., UAB, and Houston to set us up at 12. UTEP can join TCU in the MWC, while SMU. Tulsa and Rice go back to the WAC (LaTech would appreciate that). The SBC just needs to keep improving, quit playinf the 1AA schools and win more OOC games especially against non BCS schools. NT has lost to 3 conference champs and defeated SMU who beat Arkansas State eho defeated Army who took A&M downto the wire before beating Baylor (both on the road). Our schedule does not get any harder and our young team is getting better each week and we only lose a handful of starters for next year.

NC State who felol to Akron defeated #20 Boston College this week!!!

We are now 3rd behind only UT and the Aggies. We can catch the latter if everyone votes.

Memphis dismisses defensive coordinator
BleedGreen64 replied to HawaiianGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Joe Lee did an great job for their defense. I taped the 2004 NO bowl and the announcers were very high on him and his past job perfomances. He dhould not go long without a job. -
I like the article and hope our new president sees it. I fyou do not try to improve you will only go backwards.

This does put our record in perspective. However, do we want to be "average"? Recruit - Coach - Motivate - Win -
Not everyone supports their alma mater - even the winners. I ws having car repair at Sewell Lexus Saturday morning. When prepalring to pay up the one of the girls there asked the other if she was listening to the game. The reply was it would not start untiul 4:30, I asked what game - TCU vs TTech. I asked who are you for - TCU (one said even though I went to Tech).

GrayEagleOne, hear, hear. I never thought I would live long enough to get to this point, but I am glad I did. Now If I can just see a return to winning UNT football.

The head coach can always overide the play calling and as any boss he is the one who has to be held accountable for failure. If Ramon is teh problem Dickey should fix it. If he is not then it has to be Dickey. When something does not work you change what you do. If the OL can not open holes you do not have the RB's run up the middle. Go around or pass over the rushers. I will continue to attend the games and support the team and my school.
-
I can live with the "keeping them under the radar", but I always wonder how many highly rated recruits we might if we just let them know we had an interest. A lot goes into a recruit's decision - prosimaty to home, BCS, girlfriends, majors, etc. At least give them a chance to say "no". It may be happening and we are just not advised. I hope so.

Saw your truck in Austin and filled UT fans in on who you were. Thanks for all you do. Go Mean Green.
