  1. THUNDERSTRUCK-BEST SONG FOR ANY FOOTBALL SCENERIO. THEY USED IT IN THE MOVIE VARSITY BLUES.
  2. Everyone needs to get off of the HS coaching thing. Coaching is coaching. It all depends on the talent you have to work with. Yes the difference in HS, College and Pro is the speed, but there are other factors. In high school, you play with the kids that go to your school. You can't go out (or you are not supposed to) and pick players outside of your district. In college you have to fight other schools in order to get the best. If your program isn't very good, you get the scraps that the big boys leave you. In the pros it is all about the money, the ones with the most tend to do better. If you took the UNT coaching staff and the OU coaching staff and switched them around the results would be the same. In college, its all about the recruiting. TD is no stranger to recruiting. He and his staff just need time to recruit the athletes that are going to make this thing work. Right now they are not going to be able to get the #1 QB or RB in the nation because our program is not Glamorous or as Sexy as UT, OU, Or USC. Their job is to take the best of whats left and teach them to win. They have already proven that they can teach players to win. Look what they did at SLC. Don't judge TD and his staff on where they coached, judge them on how they coached and their results. Its going to take more than just a few years before we can play on the same stage as OU or UT. But if given a chance, I'll bet that TD and his staff will have us winning consistently and ranked as one of the best Mid-Major schools in the nation. Thats how Boise State started and look at them now. Give TD and his staff a chance to teach the Mean Green how to win and I think averyone will be pleased with the results.
  3. I agree. Don't use this game to downgrade their spirits, but to motivate their desire to get better. Tell them to remember how they felt at the end when they saw the score and to use it as motivation to never feel that way again. Remember the day that they played the Sooners so that from here on out, everyone else will - REMEMBER THE DAY THEY PLAYED THE MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. After having time to thing about last nights game and sleeping on it, I have come to the following conclusions. 1. I want to apologize to the entire Mean Green Football Program for giving up on them last night. I got so frustrated with the first half that I turned off the game and missed some encouraging things that happened in the second half. You guys didn't give up, and I shouldn't have. 2. I think the entire Mean Green Nation also owes the program an apologize. We expected too much, too soon. We expected our beloved Mean Green to be another SLC under TD. We expected a miracle overnight. If this would have been a team coached by DD, Matt Simon or even Dennis Parker, we would not be so shocked by the outcome. And finally, things will get better. We will be ok. TD is a proven winner. I can't wait to see how he and the team reacts to this adverse situation next week against SMU. I feel sorry for anyone who gets in our way the rest of the year. GO MEAN GREEN This is one fan who will always support you no matter what happens.
  5. What a day of highs and lows. First, I sign my 7 yr old son up to play in his first year of pee wee football. Boy am I a proud dad. Second, I watch the first half massacre of my beloved Mean Green. What a let down. Now I am listening to the web cast of my other school, Trininty Valley Community college, and the are winning 23-0 with just over a minute to go in the first half. Hope nothing else happens to bring me back down again. Hopefully the Mean Green can at least score to avoid the shut out.
  6. I agree. You can't expect a team to just stop playing when its the first game of the season and that game is just in the 2nd quarter. Maybe they should put in their managers, trainers and waterboys. Maybe we could hang with them if they are not to fast.
  7. I KNOW THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD DID NOT LIKE DICKEY, BUT DID ANY OF HIS TEAMS LOOK THIS BAD IN ANY GAME. AND HE DID WIN 4 CHAMPIONSHIPS AND GOT US TO 4 BOWL GAMES. THIS IS NOT A KNOCK ON DODGE. I LOVE THE FACT THAT HIS IS OUR COACH. BUT I THINK IT WILL TAKE A WHILE FOR US TO GET USE TO HIS SYSTEM. JUST WAIT TILL WE PLAY SOMEONE OF OUR OWN CALIBER. THEN MAYBE THE RESULTS WILL BE SWITCHED.
  8. I have no doubt that Dodge will get us moving in the right direction. I guess that the current team just doesn't have the talent to run his style of offense. No matter what happens for the rest of this game or this season, We still love our Mean Green. GO MEAN GREEN
  9. Very disappointing showing. I thought that the defense was suppose to be our strength. The OU receivers are on the verge of setting school records against us.
  10. What is Romans' problem. Is the hair getting into his eyes? The OU receivers are eating him up. I know that OU has speed. But he is making them look like super heros.
  11. I didn't expect us to win the game. I am just hoping for a good showing and so far that is not happening.
  12. Ok, looking a little better now. Maybe just needed to get the first quarter jitters out of the way. OOPs. Maybe I spoke to soon.
  13. Can somebody call Appalachian state and see if we can borrow their QB?
  14. I agree. Seems to be hanging on to the ball to long. Doesn't look to confident either.
  15. It's been a long time since I lasted posted on this board. I'v been a UNT fan since 93 when i first attended UNT as a student. The hiring of TD has gotten me really excited about the direction of the Mean Green program. And now that Appalacian State has pulled one of the biggest upsets in college football history, I just can't contain my excitement any longer. GO MEAN GREEN
