  1. What you guys are doing is FANtastic!! I'd be there if I weren't out of town! Cheer 'em home for me. great day for the team and coaches as well as the Mean Green Nation!!!!
  2. Bryan, kind of pushing your luck with the obam crap on your signature aren't you?? Admins asked tht not to be on the board.
  3. Decent,....18K plus in attendance. Was the home field crowd a factor? Were they loud? I'd love to have been there!!!!
  4. Tech deserved to win. true determination and desire to win came through for them. Thought is was over when I didn't see the dropped interception. Gutsy call to pass to Crabtree in double coverage when a field goal was a sure win. leach looked like a hero calling that play but he easily could have been linched if the outcome was an interception. Gladd to see the Red Raiders pull out a win against ut. TT will move to 4th most likely.
  5. You my friend are wise beyond your years. Thanks for your work here on the board.
  6. I had one of those helments until I left it in storage long enough for someone else to find it. Beth was my cheerleader partner. Ahh...those were the days! Love it now though!!
  7. I feel honored to have been asked that question. Well, a long time ago (about 1972 or '73) there was a bar napkin, Hayden Fry and Rick Spears all together at one time, so the legend goes. Born from that, was a characture style figure of the Eagle called the Flying Worm which became the Eagle logo of the time. It wouldn't last too long but it did not go away before it collected many of us "Oldtimers" as fans. Mostly because of the nostalgia but maybe because of the Fry Mean Green that became the color. I played football, a cheerleader, a wrestler and a Talon under the Flying Worm. That's why you will hear the new Eagle logo referred to as the Son of Worm.
  8. Mathman, don't make me like you and be polite to your Ponies!!! but thanks for the kind words. It sure is painful now.
  9. ....and I have to say...the BEST burgers I've had in a long time....and if you've seen my boyish figure you will know I am an expert on burgers. The Pourhouse gets my vote as the best!
  10. Title IX goes both ways. To add baseball, which appears to be real at this point, we have two options, 1) add another women's varsity sport or...2) cancel a men's varsity sport, which appears to be what the leading opinions are pointing toward. Now, as I have said before, I have a very good suggestion as a solution here. UNT should start an Equestrian team. Many large and small prominent schools have Equestrian teams for the same reasons. It is a very expensive sport at the middle and high school levels. This probably gives rise to: 1) At the college level this is a women's sport. 2) Mostly affluent families can afford it. This adds potential high level donors to the address lists. Right now my daughter competes with families; Bach, Sinacola, McNutt, Teal, and more. We could use them to support and strengthen the program instead of paying upstart dollars 3) The girls are attending mostly private schools which may indicate a higher SAT score entering college. We need smart athletes! 4) UNT is in the middle of horse "heaven" and several affluent stables have indicated an interest in supporting a program at UNT 5) It is a great spectator sport. Although it would not be a huge revenue producer it is great funn to watch if you understand it (like most sports) 6) Its a great Olympic sport and we could possibly have an Olympic medaller from UNT quicker than any other sport we have. Great pub! 7) Provost Wendy Wilkins is a horse lover and enjoys dressage 8) Many state universities have a successful programs; SMU, ATM, TTU, OK, OSU, LSU, TSU, Cornell, Gorrgia, KSU, NMSU, MTSU, TCU, UT (Tenn.) http://www.varsityequestrian.com/universities.html#div2 A UNT Equestrian sport is a huge advantage instead of cancelling a men's sport at UNT!!
  11. Don't let facts get in the way of perfectly good humor
  12. Scholarship Athlete vs State Employee. Someone correct me about NCAA rules, but aside from that, my best guess is Different rules, different set of requirements and different outcomes totally. RV and Dr. B. will take care of testing Dodge as a condition of employement if the circumstance arises, Dodge takes care of his players. Maybe we should just test the folks on this board!
  13. Very good post. I really appreciate your clear thought!
  14. Hey, this IS a football blog and the conversation IS focused on football players. I'm pretty sure Bob feels the same way about the other majors on scholarship and would most likely post the same on the appropriate blog. (don't want to speak for Bob though) Thanks for the post Bob!
  15. It may, but the general student body didn't make a committment agreement for a scholarship.
  16. I'm jealous of both programs. I was born and raised in UT country and I'd love to see Tech wreck Texas. Texas has all the money and prestige a school and team could ever hope for. They get things handed to them on a burnt orange platter. Tech has worked hard to get were they are. Go Tech! Ok, it may be because my daughter is a Tech freshman but I'd love to see Texas take this one on the chin!
  17. Something told me it wasn't performance enhancing drugs
  18. I'm thinking one of those bike helments would serve me well on my Harley! Actually, I would be afraid of the crow I would attract. Not that that is bad or anything............insert pc statement smiley ............ just sayin'
  19. I am very skeptical but, has anybody ever tried to get 88.1 from the Tyler area?? I'm out there at a horse show with my daughter and would love to listen on the radio!!!
  20. I read your words, but...... .......what do they mean???
  21. Guys, the Kelly Green is a far better color. It is a much more striking and alive color in person and on TV. It is also of limited use in college football, (I don't think any college currently uses it). Just try to find some of it out there. The manufacturers are not making it because there isn't much demand. There just isn't much Kelly Green to be found, (not even from meangreengear.com) My point is, if we want a good color and one that will be quickly recognized as Mean Green, we have it. I believe this decision was a huge branding success. The old green is pretty but it is OLD and we have to let it go. Let the Philly boys (and others) have it for themselves. GO MEAN GREEN!! I sure miss Plum and his effective color coding!
  22. Part of it reminds me of your posts
  23. Kelly green was not an invention of the Dodge regime. We change back to the old green, which I happen to like just fine, and the other half of the group will curse the administration for yet another change. Too many cry babies.
  24. I suppose you are correct, "not allow" may have been too strong. They certainly didn't say, "Now we'd like to take questions from the audience" either. Either way, nobody got a question in edgewise!
  25. Tom Ford owns the Hole in the Wall burger place on Harry Hines. I have blanked any other Tom Ford out of my memory!
