I agree NT80. And this is news???...to who??? OK, my bad sportsmanship again. Really, if you haven't gone out to the ponyboard you should. There are some real rocket scientists over there. Like, "PJ used us to get better job". In true SMUt fashion, a better job to them usually means more money. Only PJ took LESS money to go to GT. You just can't make this stuff up!

That would be an excellent addition to the football facilities but I don't think it will happen. Great idea though. I think to justify the funds required to build a new stadium we have to show a long range plan to realize the return on investment that doesn't include increased revenue on attendence at the football game. (Not sure why I think this!!) The return on a great stadium is a no-brainer! But...That long range plan would have to include growth in areas of students and facilities to take care of them. Dorm space that is attractive enough to encourage more students to stay on campus is money in the universitie's pocket that can't be ignored. Everything happens with a price. Still a good idea!!

Emmitt, what kind of goofy question is that?? Dodgeball is "brand new" only one year. Then, Dodgeball turns to success developed on recruitment, proven and successful schemes and leadership. We only need "brand new" one year. The rest will be be the steak, not the sizzle! Grow up!!!!

Dmn Article On Smu Coaching Search...foiled Again
GreenAlums replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
At what point do we start to feel sorry for SMU???....ain't gonna happen here!! Ok, I know that's bad sportsmanship. I just hope our recruits see what UNT has to offer over one of the other Texas schools! -
Just had another talk. Bottom line, we WILL have a new stadium in 2010. Any way you cut it, spin it, speculate it, minimize it...sounds like it's ACTUALLY happening. We do need the money sooner than later to make ther stadium the best it can be. School needs the Fouts field complex and surrounding area (parking lot and MG Village) for classroom/dorm space and TXDot needs the land to the Northwest for I-35 right of way. There are quite a few moving parts to this deal. GMG!
-
Correct, if the money is there we will see an opening game across I-35 in 2010. But, if I can go to a home game at Fouts and glance across the street and see a new stadium coming up I'll feel so good that the two years may seem like 2 minutes.
-
That is correct, however...from the Development minds that I talk with often, it is common to keep some fundraising receipts silent as it is going on to keep them coming in. You'll soon learn, I am an eternal optomist!!
-
Cerebus, I amazed at where you are getting this stuff! Thanks and keep it up. What does, "Community Involvement will be high on priority list for UNT" mean? Sounds cool but does that mean the UNT shareholders (fans, alumns, friends, Dentonites etc.) will be able to have input in parts of the project??

Look at the date required for the RFQ to be returned.....12-12-07 2pm. Looks real and it looks real soon! Also seems there is a short list for UNT already. This would not be the first any firm heard of it if the turnaround was several weeks on an RFQ. OK, OK,...I'll try to contain my excitement!!
-
I know this is public knowledge but I have not seen it reported on the board yet so I thought I would add it, (and I do try to read before I post). UNT has issued the RFQ for Architects and Engineers for the new stadium. The award may happen some time after the first of the year and the work could actually start within 2008. OK, if this is old news, go ahead and pounce on me . Or, send in your bids if you are on the RFQ list!!

Troy Losing Out Is Actually Great For The Conference
GreenAlums replied to stebo's topic in Mean Green Football
Is this true?? Interesting.... -
I think we have to look at JUCOs for next year. I agree with eariler posts about screening better. We have got to find a JUCO player that can work in the schemes TD and group (OK not sure about defense) have developed so they can be instant impact. Grades are of concern with a JUCO player too. I don't exactly know how UNT has faired in that arena but if they can be an instant impact player for us now, somebody may have passed on them as a Freshman recruit because of grades or worse - criminal concerns. Get 'em but screen 'em!

North Texas In The Ny Times And Other Thoughts
GreenAlums replied to letsgiveacheer's topic in Mean Green Football
I certainly agree on this one! I completely support Coach Dodge as do many of the folks that post here, but let's face it, he will only be able to sustain that support IF he addresses the defensive issues posted throughout this board. Just who is expected to be in charge?? Ultimately it will be another RV issue and then Dr. Bataille will be involved in the process. Never doubt my support of the Mean Green! -
A quick announcement and dirt moving to build a new stadium will change everything. Money makes all that happen. Here's to hoping a great recruiting effort will find great players but it's hard to get impact players from a group of even outstanding freshmen. Maybe the silent phase of fundraisng becomes a little louder quickly! That WILL bring players and fans alike!!
-
I can't wait to hear what Johnson's "reasons" were for making the move. Money certainly, but what else will he say?? Why would he make a move from Navy to SMU? Interesting IMO.

I bet FIU doesn't score that many points. This may be a real slugfest. Sign me up!!

It is pretty exciting to see new spirit merchandise show up in neighborhood stoors!! But how sad is it that we are talking about DENTON! I'd be more excited if I could find anything as far away as Carrollton!! That's not too much to ask is it? None the less, I'm happy to see merchandise out there...where ever it is! GMG!

Cavalcade Of Whimsy - The Coaching Situations - Baylor & Todge
GreenAlums replied to jperg2's topic in Mean Green Football
I tend to agree here, since Ann Richards is not holding Baylor's hand (and giving them what they get) they will slowly pass off in to the sunset to be heard from never again. SMU has a year or so to attempt to put it back together. If they do, they will have the support that it will be tough for baylor to get. -
I wonder how long it will be before we hear the Mack is not back for the pack in Austin? Ever since Mack showed his class and refused to let the university talk him out of the moment of silence for Drew before our game down there I have respected and appreciated everyting about him. Problem is, he may be / is in a little trouble. Can you imagine the pain UT feels when they get be by "this" ATM machine??? OU is one thing, but this ATM machine is overdrawn and they still beat UT! I don't think the fans support letting Snead find a new home? The one thing that will save his Longhorn bacon is the fact that they won the ntnl title in 2005. That was the year that Young wanted to (and Mack agreed) to play his own way.
-
Thanks for the post. Jermey Phillips sounds like a great catch...or maybe an interception or two!! Will he be an impact player or get a red-shirt?
-
Great idea!!! I like the lime green but what I like more is a connection with tradition and special events to develop a sense of school pride and enthusiasm. I'm all in!!
-
Excellent news for PC! Congrats and knock 'em dead Patrick!!
-
Coach Fry was let go from SMU (yes, he did take a pay cut but that's how being let go works) and came to UNT just to be able to beat SMU in a particular way. He turned out to like UNT and the rest is history. It would be great if Bennett followed in Coach Fry's footsteps!! It could happen.

OK, Rick...gimme some of that wonderful Koolaid!! Are you going to be there tomorrow? Look forward to seeing you!!

Then my guess is you are are Democrat!!
