  1. Boys and girls, a trip like that has potential! Fun in the sun!
  2. No, my mind is certainly not soothed tonight. What a dismal showing in the Super Pit. I really appreciated the Pit Crew though. What a great group of students! How can we get more of them out? But after losing that bad, I think I am getting the flu now too!!
  3. I've always equated "meeting" someone when they are "on stage" at a public event as "KNOWING" them too. Maybe that works for you. He may be a great guy but I'll visit with you in a couple years and see if it all pans out. I had no hard feelings toward JJ prior to him coming to SMU. But now that he's one on the SMU alumni payroll......he's a target of my competitive spirit. All in good clean and highly energetic competition!! I was around when UNT (Hayden Fry) beat SMU and I was around when (UNT) Dickey beat SMU. I can't wait to add one more coach from UNT to the list! Go Dodge!!
  4. ugh! That information is certainly something that calms me down. I just hope the game is good tonight to take my mind off of your question!!
  5. Nope, I have not met JJ. I wonder if you have? My guess is, you have not either, if he is that hard to get in front of. Ya know, we sometimes never know more than what the media provides, and I'm surprised that JJ would let that language out in a press release. What the heck would you think if the roles and press releases were revearsed. But then again, you haven't been putting up with UNT arrogance for 30 years.
  6. Thanks for staying involved with the Exes! Your membership IS appreciated by the many kids that receive scholarship assistance.
  7. I agree. I also think that the players that committed to Coach Dodge, did so because they believed in him, his program and the UNT scholastics and facilities. The total package at UNT should stand for itself and very hard to compete with. I hope that committment is firm and the character of Coach Dodge is a strong enough to hold the players close enough to prevent JJ from stealing a UNT verbal. Let's see if any bad blood comes out of this??
  8. No kidding!! You would expect him to act that way with the salary and pomp and circumstance SMUt provided for him. He probably thinks he can "do no wrong". A little like SMUt during the pre-death penalty days! Ya think he may be after some of the UNT recruits?? Of course he is! If he gets any of our recruits, do you think the rivalry between UNT and SMU will gain any steam?? Man these guys chaps me!!! All in the name of good competition I suppose!
  9. I could never play these games as a kid either. What is wrong with it. Bash me and I'm coming after your a#$
  10. Hey look JF, they are beginning to unravel your secrets!! Run for the hills...I mean Hill Country!!
  11. I see that the SMUt pony board has their own Bottom 10 listed. I can't figure out how to post a link but go over there. There seems to be the continuity of a little rival that some on this board will not agree exists. Yes SMUt is a bit "miffed" or is that "muffed" that they finished below NT.
  12. 7) Recognize we need a new stadium that can energize the public and draw the attention of out of town, out of conference opponents that may allow us to play football teams at home that will bring in a good gate like Navy, bring in and help sign recruits, and satisfy DallasGreen....sure wish I could put a CHECK on this one!! 8) anyone??
  13. Absolutely LOVE this post!!
  14. Wow, you are agressive with the returns from the student fees. I would suggest they could/will budget the student fees much like a typical ROI. I can't recall an ROI being so agressive that it is realized in one year. Maybe 5-15 years depending on who's math you use. Don't forget summer semesters. 3.4M/year for 16 years is 54.4M if you don't use any of the gate, bowl appearances or hotdog money to augment the costs. 16 years could turn in to 5 to 6 when you consider donations. Man, I'm even convincing myself....
  15. Fry definitely was AD and HC at the same time. He got the lime green color for the Mean Green and the flying worm pushed through easily because of this.
  16. This is exactly what was described to me by the Development office. We are in the planning phase of fund raising and will soon move in to the quite phase. We have to know what the price tag is before we know how much money to pickup I was told we have a little over $5M already in hand (in the Development department) for the stadium. I believe there is more money to be added to the total that comes from the state through the budget. We have some money but we also have a ways to go.
  17. This might be the same model we saw several years ago. But I still get excited about the possibilities!!!
  18. That is pretty amazing...going from 0-12 to 9-4! It's doesn't appear the talent was left over nor did recruting play a huge part in such a turnaround. Although, those rumors are out there. Some boys got a "get out of jail free" card. Think that will work at SMU?? We'll see!
  19. I have to agree with ParksAndRecRick. Its all good but we have GOT to move now! We have had, what?, 10-12 years to step up and capture the interest of the DFW football fans. SMU was forced to step down, and is still there. We failed, until now, to step up and replace them. We still can even if they hire a JJ. TD has what it takes to recruit the talent we need to do what we failed to do over the last 12 years. To repeat a comment on some thread, the exciting thing is who will be our new DC. That's where we can make up for last year and hyperstart '08 spring football.
  20. I'll take that for UNT!
  21. I played football at UNT back in 75/76. I think I'll just come and watch!! Unless you would let me play a couple downs of slow moving flag football!
  22. Where did she play??
  23. I totally agree!! How many of those local D-II teams would love to play UNT???...and bring a good crowd to Fouts? The would get up for us just like we get up for Navy! I think we should do the homework. Find THE D-II school that has the most alumni and friends in the DFW (or local enough to travel) and then schedule them. All three listed above would be great to start with. We would all win on at least one of those games. Just remember, we need money for a new stadium. What's the long range plan????....beg donors for everything we get??? Man I would hate for the the UNT alumni to own Dodge like the SMU alumni own JJ! OK...I rambled....
  24. I agree, this has always surprised me. What also surprises me is that UNT has over 110K alums (just alums, not including friends) in the DFW metroplex We should own it! We need to get to the problem (many think they know and they probably do...) and do something!!
