Seems that Jones saw a gifted QB that 1) may not fit his program 2) more than anything, was a punk on and off the field. He picked up 3 QBs (I think) and now maybe they know why. I think he did what had to be done and that says a lot about his character. I'll give Jones the benefit of the doubt and call it a good move. I don't know what JWills did, but if it's anything like what was mentioned above, he won't and shouldn't be back at SMU. That should certainly give Rice an edge! Go Texas State!!

HH I believe you are on to something here. I don't think we have a deal with UA. We won't see our name on thier website nor any of our gear in the shops, at least not UA brand stuff. I believe we have the equivelant sponsorship of the local service station sponsoring a pee wee baseball team. They are giving us a discount or providing team clothes or free and writing off the costs to marketing. This all done because Dodge had a relationship with UA at SLC. I'm not knocking the deal, I appreciate the deal. We just need to understand it is what it is, and no more.

I tried my best to read through it just in case we were sucked in to some kind of scam. It looks legit. It appears, if we win, Scrappy my be included in a game and/or on the cover of a box for a game that they produce and sell. Any publicity like this seems good! 1000 of kids may see Scrappy. Scrappy looks the best. We will have to petition for a correct history for Scrappy though!!

Ok,now I'm convinced. We should go ahead and agree to the terms of the BigXII. The geographics are just too hard to say no to. Go ahead and let them beg a little more but eventually I say let's just give in and agree to go BigXII.

It seems like we are talking about the front-end of athletics as a business here. We need as many alums with core desire topromote the university and athletics as possible on staff everywhere. I would love an alum to be interested, qualified and apply for the job. If they were the best fit to provide a business solution to the athletic department, HIRE THEM FIRST! I would caution against hiring an alum that was not qualified and could not perform the job. As stated above, a degree in Kinesiology doesn't necessarily mean we get what our money pays for. But maybe so, you really don't know. Go Mean Green!

Guys, I hate to say this but, I'm afraid UA could be a pipe dream. Otherwise, it seems they would take UNT seriously and produce a good amount of the right color green and get products in the market place. UNT spirit wear is not out there. What does that say 1) about the company, or 2) about the company's committment, or 3) about our ability to negotiate a profitable deal that is equitable for both parties? I'm sure it's not as simple as I try to make it seem but.....come on!! There is not another good venue for any kind of big concerts in Denton or Denton County other than the Speedway. It sure seems like we could work a deal with the city/county for a stadium that would house or accomodate other money making propositions. Of course, we would have to help the city of Denton figure out how to do something like this.

Since we are speculating, what would you call this new conference? Star Conference?

I would be up for a Jerry World game with UT. For reasons I'm not totally sure of, there are many on this board that disagree. Don't forget, there are a lot of UNT fans that would like to buy beer and watch the mighty Mean Green in a pro stadium too. It's not all about UT in this country!!

To defend RV a bit here, I thought I heard him say "rather not" or "unless we absolutely had to" kind of references to increased student fees. He mentioned (after a question from DallasGreen) that they were exploring all the options for funding. DG had a great qeustion and RV answered it as though he was very schooled on the options. This is not RVs first rodeo. He has to know that somewhere, somehow down the line, if increased student fees was the option required, he would use that option. I just think he's a great guy for not forcing it down their throat without good reason. To me, THIS IS A GOOD REASON!!

I think that is just why I want to be pitted against $MUt, (so we can stick their noses where they belong). I actually think you are right in the insinuation they would make a better OOC game. I don't want them in the Big12 when we get there

Interesting perspective, however, don't most D1 players know how to play with injuries of some sort? If anybody can perform hurt I think Rodge will have to be on the top of the list. I agree about muscling up though. D1 is not equal to HS in any way. I know that personally!
