  1. Thanks for the history. I love these strories and they mean so much more when the car was your "college" car too! I have a 1965 Mustang I restored but painted red. Sure wish I would have painted it JohnDenver Green too! (that was not a typo, I know it's JohnDeere green ) Again, thanks for sharing your car with the MeanGreen Nation!! Go Mean Green!
  2. I am a Talon Alum. I maintained the Model A for 2 years all by myself. It was practically my daily driver for two summers while I fiddled with about every bolt and screw on the thing. I love the Model A, but,....It's the wrong color and could do so much more if updated. Heck, you can't even depend on it starting and making it across campus is what I am told. My comment to replace the Model A was a light hearted comment meant to appreciate the VW, not slam the Model A.
  3. I can't begin to tell you how much fun I had at the Spring game on Saturday but I will tell you one thing that really stood out to me. Parked right next to the ShopMeanGreen.com merchandising tent was a fantastically restored 1970 VW Bug perfectly painted in the new color Mean Green and white. I spoke to owner and found out later from FFR who it was. I will assume that FFR is correct and this belongs to Chad, or John Denver as you may better know him from this board. Folks if you didn't get to see this beautiful car you missed something. The school pride and dedication it takes to put that kind of time in money in to a personal car is something we should all hope to achieve. We need more school spirit and dedication like this!! Thanks for sharing the car with us JD!! My hat is off to you my UNT friend!! Can you add a picture of the car to this thread?? I say let's replace the Model A!!!
  4. I personally hand counted the crowd. I got 3,502 and 3 dogs that got in on leash.
  5. But with Touchdown Jesus on our side there would be a review and on-field reversal of the penalty.
  6. They could save some of the current rats from the Radisson to fill out the requirements of a real "laboratory"
  7. Good! She already knows personally that I support her 100%!!
  8. Thank you 3XNTGRAD!!!!!....Now....Can we please admit that the administration may understand a little more about running a top tiered university than what we may give them credit for??????
  9. I thought it might be tailgating at the Spring football game. I know I'm a little out of practice myself.!!
  10. I hate the part about Tomlinson. Any knee surgery unfortunately isn't good, unless it is just a closer look of the joint arthroscopically. I really like that Didge is developing a mental game as evidence by more film review than field practice at this time of the year. This is a good time to access conditioning. Watching films is developing a mental game. Go Dodge!
  11. Boomer23, I can almost mirror your story. Along with being a Talon, my pledge class pres., I too was told no....at first. I made a trip to UNT and pled my case in front of the Director of Admissions. They let me and I graduated with a 3.2 overall. Never flagged a course, although I dropped a few back in the time you could instead of getting an F. To this day, I have been very successful and love UNT!
  12. I would much rather have a student accepted in to UNT that truly wanted to be at UNT, even if he/she had a slightly lower entrance scores! I want passion, pride and integrity. Someone like that will work harder and produce better for themselves, higher education and UNT in the long run, IMHO! Sense I didn't go to school to be a president or even in an executive position at one of finer insitutions of higher education, I will leave the marketing and management calls to them. If I ever decide I want to tell them how UNT should be managed, I'll seek the education first. Don't tell me how to run a hospital and I won't tell you how to run a universtity.
  13. I will at least use a green one of these!!
  14. I can't wait to see how some of these 2010-2012 projected schedules wiill begin to get scrambled when UNT unveils a new showcase quality development that includes at multi-use football stadium. Go MeanGreen, Go UNT, Go Exes Alumni!
  15. Hopefully many are like me, either bought their tickets already or the purchase is a given. Anybody hear how ticket sales are going?
  16. I wish I could find a real helment from the Worm era for sale. Anybody got any ideas or sources??
  17. Honest to goodness, I love this board. I'll be reading along on a serious, somewhat tense or volatile post and then somebody comes up with a comment that is funny and I bust a gut laughing!! Gotta love it! Oh you know, I hope this one is meant to be funny!!!
  18. It would be nice if DCTF would do an article on North Texas Football to highlight the opinions of the poll takers. Otherwise, why have a poll. I wonder if the answers were reflected differently, like Rice, sMUt, UTEP, or Baylor, would there be an article or other magazine highlights?? Dave Campbell, where are you????? If I recall correctly, there is someone that is on this board that has ties to DCTF????
  19. Yep, a LOT! I would say let's see what happens in roughly 3 months. I think there is a tone of activity behind the scenes.
  20. And I thought I was the eternal optomist! Hopefully you are right!
  21. Eventually I will say, "I told you so" !!
  22. Even though you have to vote each time to see the results, these numbers are interesting. I totally agree with the votes but somehow I think the other schools would pick up on this and do a little vote campaign. Hmmm, anyway, I wonder if DCTF will do a story or two about UNT since it's getting this kind of attention on their site????
  23. The missle base is not exactly "on" campus. It's a little outside of town. I used to have to patrol out there while I was a toy cop an UNT. We'd go out and play, I mean inspect, the missle launch lift. You could put a police car on it, and lower it from gound to below ground level and back. There is a whole room underground for work on the missles I guess. I suppose it's all still there. Way cool!
  24. Wow, I'd really be worried if I were a froggie. I wonder if they agree to a home and home??
