I agree to a "yes" with a careful team by team evaluation when it comes to hosting a 1-AA teams. If it makes sense for attendance (TSU, SFA, and SHSU would be good considerations) I'm for it. TSU would be a great choice. By the time we could sign them I doubt very seriously there would be a prayer they could beat us. (Of course there is App. State).

I think what he means is if there was outstanding school spirit, strong administrative support, rich tradition, well marketed and publicized university activities, support from the city of Denton, etc.. then Fouts would be the greatest and we'd love and fill it every home game. IMO

Do you have any proof it doesn't? forgo theory, emotion and speculation. Either by increasing campus awareness for student enrollment or philanthropy the infrastructure of a university will benefit. The policy and operational infrastructure is designed and aligned by the BOR. Marketing and publicity are designed to support the core values of a university, which should be academics. Football provides a superb window for exposure and recognition. Not the only, just one of the best. If that exposure (football) doesn't positively affect academics....its not football's fault. Call it marketing dollars. I believe marketing is a well established practice for any thriving company or entity. Sorry, we aren't a land grant college. We have to run this a bit like a business.

Somewhere in all this I think RV is thinking about the privacy and/or academic reputation of the some of the students. I don't mind RV not giving details. When has the media deserved that level of ddetails when it relates to individual students and their grades? Not that the details exist in the individual student records, but if you give the media an inch and they will take a mile. They want a controversial story (usually) and may continue to dig until it gets to the individual student level. RV better have some details but I don't think he needs to share them with the media at this point, or ever for that matter. I will leave it up to Dr. B. to address RV. And trust me, that will happen if it needs to.

If I were a recruiter trying to capture the attention of a player that had listed UNT as a possible, I think I would slip in the notion that his schoarship may not be a solid.... I hate this news, especially since we need all possible scholarships to compete with a stronger bench than we have had in the past. How many games are one play away from our victory? Or how many starters get a 1 or 2 play breather so they can come back in stronger and make the play that wins the game. How many plays are made by a single relief of the bench. I don't know, but I don't want to give up any!

In just a few short months UNT will own the downtown Universities Center at Dallas and a downtown UNT Law School that will add to already existing South Dallas UNT campus. Then there's the little thing in Fort Worth SMU doesn't have either, a MEDICAL SCHOOL! Soon, UNT will be the business elite of Dallas, Denton and Fort Worth, no thinking about it!! I will personally stop trying to slander SMUt (sorry just one more jab there) because UNT has it going on. We need only to recognize our academic and athletic excellence for elevation amoungst universities and colleges across the country. Oh, football....yeah, at least we didn't get the death penalty. Money helps all the sports, donors donate money and good programs elevate the entire school! Of course I have not mentioned how title 9 doesn't help football. Unless a Kathy Ireland comes along again it doesn't directly, but it does help athleticc from another penalty down the road. If you rlooking for silver bullets, keep looking. It's a total program balance that is necessary to prevent yet another attempt at damaging our program from outside influences.
