I know....I love it. Now we are going to hear all sorts of "AA" type jokes. -
That is a great article! I knew Iseed when we were in college in 74-78 together. The one thing I remember was his great sense of humor! He was the great guy then that the article described and I am certain he is that same great guy now. I'd love to have him come back and visit some more during football season.

No More North Texas Exes To Kick Around Anymore

If you attended graduation you must not have listened to the speakers or attended the alumni reception in the Gateway that you were invited to. You guys love to blame somebody else and maybe the job isn't done now as well as you could do it so I suggest you volunteer. There are a lot of volnteers int eh Alumni Asociation that care a great deal and are willing to give back to the university. be one of them! Get caught giving back, it feels pretty good at times! -
10 months ago: "gee, it will take a miracle for this to happen" Last week: "it will take a catastrophe for this to NOT happen" Today: "it will be a catastrophe if it doesn't happen" Not my qutoes, but quotes from University officials that are making this thing happen! It will hurt bad if it takes 4-5 years but year 6 from now we will be VERY happy. Dear God, I'm trying to be as optomistic as possible but don't let the rest of the world pass us up! That last comment was just my reality check. I love green Kool Aid!

filmerj, I appreciate your opinion and I share some of your concerns. The name change was to better align the organization with the university, students and the grads it serves. I like the NT Exes name, I really do. But it is time to bring back the real tradition and that is proper alignment with the University. The name change is really a change back to the name before it was the Exes. NT Exes it is part of our tradition no matter if we keep it or vote to modify it. The NT Star that we have branded as the Alumni organization logo will NOT change. That is by design in order to bridge the old to the new and pull through the current members and connect with the new grads. I promise you will become proud of the direction, strength and growth of the new organization. Just as an example, I'm sure you know one of the the Alumni association's main goals is to increase UNT scholarships. The Alumni organization gave about $38K dollars to move, I think 17 scholarships in to an endowed status. Now, the Alumni organization is launching a program to direct scholarships to athletes that have reached their eligibility and exhasted their athletic scholarship dollars. In order to keep those students in school and help them graduate the Alumni organization will help with scholarships to keep those students in our system. I personally see a double win in this kind of prgram; the positive efforts of higher eduction and helping the athletic departments APR. We don't want to lose 5 more athletic scholarships in the future. This is a legal way to assist the athletic department with a mission. We would lecome your restricted donations for these scholarships. More than that, I'll come right out and ask for everyone's support. Work with us, we are working for the university and need your support. Healthy conflict is OK. We can take criticism if it's meant to help us achieve the greater good of the university!! Your input is valued. Thanks for reading this. Go Mean Green! -
I think the quoter is a little closer to home. I don't think it is CheckFacts at all. But given the chance, ChangeFacts would say the same if not worse!

Harry, The Exes Alumni Association will be supporting the pregame tailgate event that Athletics will be hosting near Rice Stadium once the details are released. They’re also working with the alumni chapter down there on other possibilities, but nothing is confirmed yet. I’d also mention that they have just launched a new online social network for UNT alumni and friends, complete with a Houston Area Alumni group. To join, go to www.untalumni.net, register and then you can join any number of groups of interest. Once you register, you can then go directly to the Houston group and join it at: https://untalumni.affinitycircles.com/untex...7454/index.html Because they just launched this network a few weeks ago, the Houston group isn’t that large yet. But, I can guarantee that they will send an email blast about whatever ends up taking place around the Rice game. I would encourage you to spread the word about that new network. It will become a powerful tool for grad over time. With only one email blast, they’ve already seen more than 1,400 alumni register. Not bad! Go Mean Green! Steve

Origins Of The "mean" Green Defense....
GreenAlums replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
This is great timing if George will run with it. A hot offense and a horrible "laughable" defense last year with the renewed defensive committment this year seems to be a perfect parallel for the upcoming season. This would be great press to tie the 1967 team with the current day Mean Green! -
Love it! And I think that's a great idea!
-
Yep, I think so... maybe school spirit, support, the love of anything UNT even if it is an uphill challenge, the opportunity to watch a UNT game...i think I can go on but you get my answer. GO MEAN GREEN!!

eppy4life, unfortunately at this time there will not be a bus trip, at least one sponsored by the Exes. I can assure you the Exes will be involved with supporting out of town games through tailgating, car pooling etc. I can't wait for your guys to hear how the Exes will support tailgating even at the home games. It will be fantastic!! This is not a teaser, I just don't want to unfold without the appropriate marketing folks input!!!
-
DG, with all due respect, you know well and good that the feeling about last season's efforts had nothing to do with the bus trip. The reason we didn't follow through with the bus trip was because of the logistics. Many folks had ties in Houston and already had plans or the bus trip didn't lend itself well to have the appropriate amount of attendance.

No doubt. I don't think the big draw is Rice on Friday night prime time.

I don't know who it is but I'm sure DD has something to do with them

For 6th Home Games - Schedule A 1aa Team ?
GreenAlums replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Nope, not a prayer! By the time we can schedule them it will be 2010. And at the rate we are recruiting, that should be a prime year for the Mean Green. Do you really, I mean REALLY have no confidence against anyone right now, or are you just pulling my chain?? That takes me back a lot! Granted, we are making more progress with offensive depth but the defense will be/is already much better with DeLoach. I prefer to continue drinking green coolaid for a while, like the rest of my life!!
