Potential Shirt Design
PerryG2480 replied to hope24's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Worst case scenario, I can just go to the local sports shop and get a green or white shirt and have a number and my gmg.com handle pressed onto the back for pretty cheap. I like the shirt though. -

Thanks Jen. Like I said, anytime! 6 ft 1, 180 lbs, about a 4.5-4.6 40 time. Had 4 or 5 receptions in the game at Fouts last spring. I don't know about the freestyling though...it takes a lot of beer and jello shots... -
Hard fought game. I feel bad for Indiana if that Wright kid ever gets hurt or has an off night, he was pretty much their whole team. Shawnson Johnson showed some real promise for us (21 pts, 11 boards, 5 blocks!). It was good to see over 6,000 people in the Super Pit, and the crowd was very into the game towards the end. We cut the lead to 5 with I think 4 or 5 minutes left and just couldn't pull it off in the end. Fun game though.

I'm going to try to be there also.

I was really down on the team after that loss to the Clippers a couple of nights ago. But we spanked the Lakers tonight, and it felt great! They whine and complain so much they look like the Sacramento Queens in gold. Yeah, you lost Payton...he deserved it! He is supposed to be a respected veteran in the NBA, and he got tossed. Plus, we were without Finley. Oh and by the way, when you can't have Fin, you can have the new J. Howard! He looks like he could be a really good player in this league. I'm excited about New Orleans and the Mean Green most of all, but it was AWESOME to see the Mavs whoop up on the senior citizen Lakers.

I don't know if any of you guys are into the fantasy football stuff, but I'm doing it for the first time this year. My team is 6-5 right now. I have a problem at WR. I need to pick 3 starters from these choices: Joe Horn (will start), Amani Toomer, Justin McCareins (my sleeper for the season), Bobby Engram, Marcus Robinson (what a game on Sunday!), and Tai Streets. I've been going with Horn, Toomer, and McCareins for the last few weeks and have done okay. With Engram and Robinson putting up some big numbers lately, I can't decide who to bench. Any advice?

The Mavs are stacked
PerryG2480 replied to IronMan4's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Looks like Nelson is going to move Jamison into a Van Exel-like 6th man role. I think that is fine, and Jamison says he doesn't mind. I look for Walker to play some small forward, and Fortson to play some center. This trade might not have made us a TON better right now, but Raef and his contract are gone. We now have enough offensive weapons to offer a serious trade for a big man down the line. I like the move. -
The Bobcat cheerleaders were just on the Jamie Kennedy Experiment Texas Edition, and they got burned bad. I don't know if any of you saw this, but they were tricked into doing cheers at an alum's funeral. Apparently this old lady loved her school and would have wanted it that way. The funny part, was when Jamie Kennedy, dressed as an old senile man, has the funeral director pick up the corpse and put it on his electric scooter with him. He then proceeded to have the director throw a football to him as he "went deep." The ball knocked the very realistic looking dummy to the floor, and the cheerleaders were obviously mortified. They then let them in on the fact that they had just been "Xed." Classic.

BIG Mavs Trade
PerryG2480 replied to IronMan4's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I hate to see Nick go, but I think this trade definitely makes the Mavs better. Jamison is a stud, and he will definitely create the new Big Four. I think Fortson is a good pick up as well, much better than anyone we sent to Golden State. As for backup PG, I have heard some mention on the radio that Cuban is still going to go out and get one somewhere. I've heard names such as Rod Strickland and Travis Best. -
Jeez...that's it. Next paycheck, I'm subscribing to the Mean Green Report!

Where did everyone live?
PerryG2480 replied to Stan R's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Kerr Hall, A Tower 6th floor first year, B Tower 2nd floor second year. I spent two years at Ramsgate, not exactly the best apartments in Denton. I am spending my last year at The Coventry, which are only a year or two old. -
Mavs/Spurs Free Agents
PerryG2480 replied to IronMan4's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
It sucks that the Mavs couldn't get Mourning, and then we lose a shot at P. J. Brown. Olowokandi is not unavailable, and I can't see giving up a Van Exel or Nash for Brad Miller. That guy is a thug, and an all-star in the Eastern Conference. I knew it was bad today when Newy said that our best help now would be Elden Campbell. Robert Horry would be good in his role, but he doesn't improve us where we need to be improved. Who knows, maybe LaFrentz will show up this year... As for the Spurs, Kidd or O' Neal would have been amazing. However, Nesterovic will hold up fine in Robinson's spot. After all, they are the defending champs. I disagree with everyone handing the Lakers the title. They got a little stronger, but in a tough Western conference, it's still up for grabs. -
I know football season is still a ways off; but for us basketball fans, basketball is an even LONGER way off. However, a lot of talk has been going on lately regarding what changes the Mavs will make to the team over the next couple of weeks. The two main scenarios I have been hearing discussed on the radio are these: 1. Keep a team that won 60 games last season in tact. Do not subtract anything, but add what you can. This is where Alonzo Mourning (or Karl Malone...hopefully not) comes in. We could sign him under the exception and keep everyone else. 2. Go for the blockbuster sign and trade. I've heard a lot of talk about one of the point guards (Nash or Van Exel), Eduardo Najera, along with some cap filler (Abdul-Wahad, Johnson, etc.) for Jermaine O' Neal. I have also heard some similar, but less drastic, possibilities to bring in an Elton Brand. 3. Then there's the Jason Kidd thing, and I just can't see how he would decide to come here, but I could be wrong. There are a lot of rumors floating around, but the one thing that everyone seems to agree on is the fact that Mark Cuban and Don Nelson are going to make some form of a change to the team. We just don't know what it will be. We'll find out soon enough. I tend to lean towards option 1. Keep the chemistry that already exists together for another season. From what I've heard, Mourning has been cleared by his doctors and is healthy enough to play. I know he won't be his old spectacular self, but I figure he's a guy that's good for 13 points and at least 8 or 9 boards a game. His biggest presence will be felt on the defensive end. That's what I would do. What's everyone else's takes?

I know this is just speculation, but with the draft this close it deserves some discussion. ESPN.com has the story as a part of their Insider report, which you have to subscribe to. However, I've heard this on the radio today as well as Dallasbasketball.com. We would deal Michael Finley to the Bulls for Donyell Marshall, Marcus Fizer, one other player, and their 1st round draft pick (7th overall). How much better would this make us? Finley has had his ups and downs but is a great team leader. He showed me a lot in the playoffs this past season. Perhaps do it to beef up at power forward, and then use the 7th pick to get a shooting guard? What's everyone think of this?

It's all over tonight
PerryG2480 replied to GreenBat's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I did notice that. It's all about keeping yourself in the game long enough to give your chance a shot to win in the fourth. The Mavs just couldn't find the guy in Game 6 of our last series. -
It's all over tonight
PerryG2480 replied to GreenBat's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Wow, what a 4th quarter tonight by the Spurs! Stephen Jackson got hot at the right time, and the defense really stepped up. Tim Duncan was soo close to a quadruple double! The guy deserves the MVP for sure. It was good to see David Robinson go out on such a high note. Tony Parker was gracious in the fact that Speedy Claxton took over his role towards the end of the series. Parker was very important to their success this season and has shown enormous potential, but you know they'll be talking with Kidd over the summer. The series wasn't flashy, but I'm still mad that there will be nothing but baseball until August! -
Mavs news
PerryG2480 replied to UNT96's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
One other thing I was wondering about: If we do this Van Exel/A. J. for J. O' Neal/Croshere deal, who will we use at backup point guard? We all know Nash's style of play, and a good backup is vital to our team. Anyone heard of any free agent PG's running around? Or maybe we use our draft picks here? -
Mavs news
PerryG2480 replied to UNT96's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
To consider letting go of Van Exel after this past post-season seems blasphemous (sp.?). However, if it meant picking up Jermaine O' Neal I'm all for it! I agree with you Ironman about Malone. He is a shell of his former self, and he wouldn't provide as much "muscle" inside as everyone seems to think. He does make us better, but I'd MUCH rather have O' Neal. Let's hope Cuban makes this deal happen. -
Nets make it a series
PerryG2480 replied to IronMan4's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
That Richard Jefferson dunk was incredible. Game 4 was fairly entertaining, I guess this is what championship basketball looks like. I guess I was spoiled by the antics of the Mavs. These are obviously 2 good defensive teams, but the Spurs barely shot 30% for the GAME!? And they still had a decent shot at overtime (Ginobili choked on a fairly open look at a 3). The Mavs were average defensively this season, but damn they could hit the 3 ball. Watching this series makes me realize exactly what kind of shooters we have on that team. -
2003-2004 Dallas Mavericks?
PerryG2480 replied to Cooley's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I think P. J. Brown, Malone, or Howard are the most likely. Mourning is a gamble, but I agree could have a huge payout. The thing is...any of these guys make us better. Another step or two in the right direction and we're championship calibur (look how close we got this season). I agree that defense will again be a focus...Raja Bell needs to stick around, he hustles and is a pesky defender. -
Fresh start for the Mavs, fresh thread.
PerryG2480 replied to UNT96's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I like the mentality that Van Exel brought to the game. You could see the fire he had, and it was contagious. Yeah, the Mavs were nailing everything from outside...but did you see how many times Nash and Van Exel took the ball to the hoop with a "will not be denied" attitude? We did a good job on defense of knocking the Kings out of their rhythm. At least we've got a competitive series to watch now guys...with the Kings' injuries and the Mavs hitting shots...who knows. We've got a chance.
