  1. Hmmm...that won't make students want to take advantage of their T3 lines to illegally download music will it? Crazy.
  2. Has anyone encountered a game that the computer will just not let you win, no matter what? For instance, I played 7-5 Houston in the New Orleans Bowl, and Heisman candidate JaMario Thomas fumbles on three of the first four drives? I hit reset (got TOO mad) and beat them 42-17...crazy. It appears that there is a random game that the computer will just not let you win that pops up once or twice a season.
  3. Hey, Laettner is gone, Dampier is here...we're better off. And like Coach said, two late first round draft picks might be worth it.
  4. I'm in guys, I'll miss the draft, but it should be fun anyway. Thanks for the spot.
  5. Trolls are funny. We'll tune you up for another scoreless half of football, sound good? Your QB had a great tune up last time we played. And the most overrated RB in the nation couldn't break 50 yards? You'll have to do better than that to call us a tune up horn boy. Sorry to respond, but it livens things up a bit.
  6. Those look freakin' sweet...can't wait to see them play in those.
  7. Prepare for the obvious...but I was watching ESPN Classic (great channel) the other day, and they had a '92 Dream Team game on. I tell you what, that tells you how different the NBA that I really like now is different from the NBA that I LOVED growing up. I mean come on...Stockton to Malone, or Stockton to David Robinson, or Stockton to Drexler on the alley oop, or Magic to Barkley, or Magic to Bird open from three. Oh, and don't forget about goofy Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, and a guy named Jordan. Hey, and the MAVS have Laettner now...wasn't Laettner an original Dream Team member?
  8. Man I hope so. I long for the day that I turn on the radio and hear: "This summer was quickly going down as the weirdest, least productive off-season in recent history for the Dallas Mavericks...until today..."
  9. Wow, guys...I decided to wait and post here after I had heard everything that the media had to offer today. That had to have been the most vague press conference I've ever heard (like Rick Renner said). Confidentiality sure makes it tough to pick a side in this whole thing. I can't make a judgement on Carter's personal issues. None of us really can. He apparently made some bad decisions, and he's obviously paying for them now. As a player, he wasn't great, but he showed promise. With some pieces around him I honestly thought he was going to be a successful QB. His stats last year as a whole weren't too bad, but ESPN had his game-by-game stats scrolling across the bottom of the screen, and wow. Lots of 200 yard games with 1 TD and 3 INT's. The only great plays I seem to remember him making were running plays, but I don't have a photographic memory either. Let me say that I WAS looking forward to seeing what his 2nd full season as a starter would have been like. I'll have to trust in Jerry and Bill that Quincy's problems were no longer worth it.
  10. If nothing else, it helps us out at PG...I would also have liked to have gotten more for Walker though.
  11. True, but I try to limit my roster from 2nd receivers if I can. If I do have to take one, I'll probably take an established one like Reggie Wayne or Isaac Bruce.
  12. Wayne Chrebet is a good sleeper, but if I'm not mistaken, Justin McCareins will be playing for the Jets now. Add him in with Santana Moss and Chrebet's numbers could fall a little. I got good use out of Trent Green last year while my starting QB (Culpepper) was hurt for a couple of games. As for rookies, I don't know how Larry Fitzgerald is going to do, but I think the fact that he'll be in Arizona drops Anquan Boldin out of my top 8 receivers. I don't see any rookie RB's being instant big-time contributors...MAYBE Stephen Jackson in St. Louis if Faulk is hurt as usual. Possibly Jones in Detroit, but I doubt it. Also, the Denver RB situation is interesting...they always seem to field good numbers, no matter who's carrying the ball. They've got Tatum Bell, Quentin Griffin, AND Garrison Hearst...I see RB by committee going into effect there, which is never good for fantasy owners.
  13. You can't pass up Holmes or Tomlinson...LT basically doubles as a RB and a WR. I had Faulk last year, and due to injuries he let me down big time. Ahman Green, Peyton Manning, and Daunte Culpepper are all good choices too. I think if I had to choose one, I'd take Priest.
  14. I just beat NMSU at home 17-10 in overtime after being down 10-7 late in the fourth quarter. I converted a 3rd and 10 on a draw play to Cobbs where I was able to juke and get out of bounds to stop the clock and keep the drive going. I completed a pass across the middle to Howard to get down to the 25 yard line with less than five seconds left. Called time out, and let Bazaldua do the honors. Cobbs scored in OT, and Early had an interception on 2nd down to seal the game. So much fun...scored over 1100 points on the greatest games score! Tonight I'll take on a 6-1 (ranked 59th in the nation) UL-Monroe team, should be a good one. They're ranked 5th in the nation in total offense per game.
  15. I know it can be discouraging. I just now found a set of sliders on All-American that I like. I don't play on Heisman because the kicking is too hard. I just soup up the All-American level so that it's difficult. A lot of you guys are way ahead of me, I'm just now getting into the third game of my first season on my dynasty!
  16. So far I'm still trying to adjust sliders to get the game to be more realistic. I also bumped the defensive sliders down a little, I was holding the other team to under 20 yards rushing every game. Also, too many passes were getting deflected on both teams. I played Memphis and won 24-17 with Cobbs going for 145 yards and 2 TD's. They only handed the ball to DeAngelo Williams 8 times and threw to him twice??? Strange. I adjusted the sliders a little more, played Southern Miss, and won 17-10. It was a defensive struggle, which was fine. I then adjusted a little bit more, played Arkansas in Fayetteville and lost 20-14. Most of the stats were pretty realistic at that point. I will probably play a couple more, and then start my dynasty. Anyone else not seeing their created signs when they play?
  17. A couple things I've noticed: On the GC version, I don't think they ever call us the Eagles. They just say "North Texas" and "the home team." Cool enough I guess. I can't get the signs I've created to show up when playing Exhibition...do they only show up in a dynasty? Anyone else having this problem? I made sure to play under the same profile I created the signs under. Otherwise, freakin awesome...I was up until 3 a.m.
  18. I say get him here...injury prone or not. As Steven A. Smith said, he's "box office." It's not like we need to put on a better show or anything, but he does attack the rim unlike anyone else on the Mavs currently. Shoot let him play the 3 and he can kick to our strictly shooting guard Finley. I assume that getting rid of Stackhouse would be a part of this deal, at least I'd hope so. I think they said that one of the pieces would be Walker, another good thing in my opinion.
  19. Who are ya'll going to start at FB? Also, who will your top 4 WR's be? Quinn, Howard, Muzzy, Culberson/Covington/Stickler?
  20. I just picked mine up at the EB games in Denton, they now have only one left for GameCube. The problem is...I have to wait 8 hours until I get home to play it. Okay, so we're called the Mean Green on the screen but the announcers still call us the Eagles? What's up with that?
  21. Thanks for the pics, e-bone. I can't wait to get my hands on this game. The Green uni's look great, Fouts looks really accurate, and they use the slant lettering logo...which is the least of all evils in my opinion. Oh, and I don't know about 2004, but in 2003 Scrappy had a really weird tale. I'm glad that's gone. A guy on MaddenMania already simmed a whole season. From what I could gather, North Texas had a nationally ranked top 20 recruiting class, and PC went for 26 touchdowns!
  22. I know I was an advocate of the Shaq to Dallas idea early on, but I'm kinda relieved. Dirk's got 10 good years left in him. If we could have had them both, that would have been cool though. Good deal for the Heat.
  23. Shoot, I go out of town for a week, and I miss out! No big deal though...I'll just have to dominate my work league.
  24. With the option on for the 6th year of Nash's new contract in Phoenix he looks to bring in close to $70 million. Chuck and Newy (man, it's good to hear them together again) just said that the best the Mavs could have done was about $50 million over 5 years. Nash never sold his house in Phoenix, and it's freakin' $20 million more! What player wouldn't have done that? He will be missed though...now my bobblehead is a "throwback."
