COWBOYS WIN!!
PerryG2480 replied to green_goblin's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
It was a great game, very entertaining. Julius Jones is freakin' awesome...I wish we would have had him all season. We STILL have QB issues. I don't want to rain on the parade, but we were up by 15 in the 4th quarter and let them come back. A lot of that had to do with interceptions (where was he looking?). I still give the Boys props for keeping it together and coming back and getting the win. I'll take any win this season, and this one felt especially good. -
I also had to listen to it on the radio. I caught the last 2 minutes and overtime driving home from work. Wow. The Goodfellas mentioned that Dirk is inching closer and closer to taking that step up to the next level...the same level that Iverson and Garnett stepped up to when they started winning MVP's. Still love the green uni's...I think I want one for Christmas.

Can't make it until after work...hoping to catch the second half.

If you would have told me that we would still be partying in New Orleans and playing in a Bowl game this year after the UT, FAU, Colorado, and Baylor games...I would have told you you were crazy. Be happy we turned this thing around and salvaged a decent season.

Mavericks get it right!
PerryG2480 replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I loved the way the colors stood out on those jerseys. The road uni's now look like they're almost black on tv. Mavs green throwback uni's: Good Mavs play minus Dirk and Fin: Bad -
Any team getting into the NCAA Tournament is HUGE news for North Texas...good job!

WE WILL BE TEARIN DOWN FIELD GOAL POSTS
PerryG2480 replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree. We've all been there and seen it done...but we've got a bunch of students who haven't caught the fever yet. If some freshman climbs up on the goal posts and rides them to the ground on his way to being a die hard Mean Green fan, let it be. Personally, I'd rather storm the field and throw beads around as we accept our 4th straight invitation to New Orleans(unless we go somewhere else) and leave the goal posts alone. And remember, NO BEADS until the game is over...we don't want to jinx this thing. -
It's harder to hate the Queens without Divac and with Christie sitting on the bench, but hey I'll take it. I think Dampier played well in the first half, and the rookie PG Harris impressed me as well. The team looked a little bit more tenacious on defense, and the blocked shots were nice. Dirk is still the man. I miss having Nash here, but I think with Harris, Terry, and Daniels we'll be alright. Good start to the season, we'll see how the chemistry comes along.

Seriously, there are some students that request off from work the day the schedule is released. Not everyone can pull that off though. The students that stayed for the entire game were few and far between, but we were rowdy and out supporting the team in the cold rain. Many of us ask people in our classes all week long if they're going to the game and how many people they're bringing. If they say they're not going, I tell them they're missing out. After the Homecoming game, one of my teachers asked us (a class of 75 people) how many went to the game...two of us raised our hands and everyone else laughed. Mumblings of "no one cares" and "don't we suck?" could be heard throughout the room. I felt like it was 2000 again. I hate to say it, but most students are like sheep...if something becomes popular and "the thing to do" they'll do it. The athletic department needs to exploit that. Other Sun Belt schools are doing that, why can't we? Show the highlights DVD on the TV's at school. Put up banners bragging about having the nation's leading rusher for the second straight year. Get a little competition going between Peterson and Thomas. Have Playstation 2 NCAA Football tournaments in the parking lot before the game...give the winners free concessions and send their butts into the stadium. Just do something. The culture is slowly changing, but this weekend made me feel like we've regressed. We can't lump all of the students into one lazy group though. Let's get as many people as we can for the Idaho game...and move on.

Not looking good for my Cards. -
I second that, and welcome to the board.

World Series

Great effort by the Astros...that was a heck of a run they went on at the end of the season. I'm a long time Cards fan though (my favorite player as a kid was Vince Coleman ), and I want them to pull this one out. Stl in 7. -
Baseball Playoffs

The Twins seem to get here every year...weren't they supposed to be contracted? -
Baseball Playoffs
PerryG2480 replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Twins vs. Yankees...gotta say Yankees in 5. I hate it, but the evil empire strikes again. Red Sox vs. Angels...Anaheim came on strong at the end and has solid pitching. I think Schilling loses one..Angels in 5 Dodgers vs. Cardinals...St. Louis has been my favorite National League team since I was 4, too much firepower on offense, Cards in 4 Astros vs. Braves...I would love to see Houston take this, but their record in playoff series makes me wonder if this year will be any different. Braves in 5. -
ESPN article about Dirk
PerryG2480 replied to a topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
If Dirk comes back stronger and hungrier this season, I'll be very excited. He's always been a scorer, but we need him to start developing his defensive game. Should be an interesting season. -
NCAA '05 Hall of Fame
PerryG2480 replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I'll have to dig up the stats on my guy...with 18 hours of class this semester I haven't gotten to play a whole lot. I like the 3-3-5 defense as well, it's good to throw in a formation like that every few plays...you can actually see the confusion it causes. Of course, with NT...I run a lot of cover 2 out of the 4-3 and nickel formations. -
NCAA '05 Hall of Fame
PerryG2480 replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Interesting thread...I've got a D-lineman that's like 6'9" 340 with good speed. I'll have to look up the stats when I get home though. Oh, and any chance of another shot at a GMG NCAA 2005 tourney? -

I like to think the fact that Mike Vanderjagt is no longer my fantasy kicker contributed to him finally missing a kick! -
GPS advice needed
PerryG2480 replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
We sell the SporTrak PRO at Radio Shack, and it says that it comes with 9 MB of pre-installed maps and 23 MB of extra space for downloaded maps. It comes with the PC connect cable, but no software is in the package. It looks like you'd have to buy one of the MapSend programs in order to transfer new detailed maps into the unit. -
USA to play for bronze
PerryG2480 replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
The game was delayed because the U. S. showed up with the wrong colored jerseys. Someone had to go back to the hotel to get the right ones. That pretty much sums it up for me...U. S. A. Basketball...be prepared. <_ -
USA sweeps men's 400 meters
PerryG2480 replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Agree, very cool. Total domination of the event by the U. S. -
This is getting me excited, and I really can't wait for football season to start. I think there's a game on in like 6 days if I'm not mistaken. I just watched the Arkansas/Kentucky 7 OT marathon. Now I'm watching OSU vs. Tech. Tatum Bell was having a monster game, something like 200 yards and 3 TD's on 19 carries so far. The fans in OSU's stadium are so close to the action, it's just not fair. Bell ran for a touchdown, and slid into the padding where the stands start...maybe 5 yards out of bounds. <_< Cobbs could turn a 20 yard TD run and take it 20 more yards before he'd be in danger of running into anything. Anyway, if you're bored, check it out...it's on all day.
