  1. Awesome news. I hope I can get off work!
  2. Can I just reiterate how awesome that stAte logo is compared to their newer one?
  3. Man, I'm gonna miss that this year. I for one never took for granted the fact that I had a chance to go party as my team prepares to play in a bowl game.
  4. I agree with this somewhat. If Boise St. jumps back up into the top 25 after a slightly down year...will anyone really remember the down year? UCF is having a good season; and if you ask around, the average fan still thinks of them as one of the worst teams in the country. I agree with the poster that mentioned geography and non-BCS teams. Fans around the country aren't discussing North Texas around the water cooler. Eventually they may, but not yet. Teams on or near our level have noticed our terrible season. Everyone else will just be a little surprised to see a different team in the New Orleans Bowl. It is vital that we bounce back with a decent season next year. Not only to climb back to the bottom rung of respectability around the nation, but also to win back some bandwagon jumpin' fair-weather fans of our own.
  5. From mumblings I heard around campus, the coaches and most of the players packed this season away after about the seventh game.
  6. A down year is expected and allowable. However, there is no way we should have been THAT down. I hope this doesn't set us back too far.
  7. Cobbs had over 140 yards rushing in the first half and finished with just over 180. Did the O-line get tired? Did ASU make the correct adjustments? I kept thinking "this is where our seniors will win the game for us. Cobbs will march us down the field and Baz will seal the deal as time expires." That was the old Mean Green. A three and out? Please. ASU had some rowdy fans, congrats on the win. A couple of people in particular were loud, obnoxious, knew nothing about football, and were bragging WAY too much for their first win over us in 5 TRIES. I hope they make it back to the boondocks okay.
  8. Running game seemed to get going again which is what it seemed Parcells was going for. Pretty good game...probably have to play a little better to beat Denver on Thursday though. 7-3 is awesome though...keep it up!
  9. ULM: 31 North Texas: 14 Happy Homecoming.
  10. Unreal. Get the guy the hell out of here. This incident pushes the problem far past poor play calling. Why is RF so obsessed with trying a play, someone missing an assignment, lining it up again, and running the same play (with the same negative results). He did this twice in the fourth quarter...and once Meager was so keyed in on getting the ball to the tight end on the roll out that he completely missed a wide open Quinn downfield. I've seen flag football teams in the City of Southlake league with better offensive creativity. Cobbs had a great game though, and the defense played well despite never being able to quite figure out that crazy option offense. We just needed that one stop...couldn't get it.
  11. Jamario goes for 150 plus on Saturday...mark it.
  12. On a side note...went to the Pat Green concert out at TMS tonight, had a great time. He played mostly our beloved Texas classics with only one or two from the new album. They had the jumbotrons set up so you could send a text message from your phone that would be scrolled across the video screen during the concert...saw a "North Texas football rocks!" a "Mean Green football in the house" and my own simple "GO MEAN GREEN!" Good times. By the way, Kenseth wins and jumps a spot or two in the Cup Chase standings on Sunday!
  13. Just reminds me how special those defensive units from 2001 to 2003 really were.
  14. Hey, Ball State beat Northern Illinois on the road...would we be able to do that this season?
  15. I don't know if we'd be favored against Rice right now. To defend Tulsa...they did go to Hattiesburg and beat Southern Miss. SMU is improving...sadly, we are not.
  16. They did a shirt really similar to this for the Troy game also.
  17. Depressing.
  18. "Supports UNT's renewed emphasis on a competitive athletics program" Come on people, make your voices heard.
  19. It's not a question that the fan base is growing...it's a statistical fact. Our exposure overall is growing as well. Fans of other schools around the country have actually heard of us now. We're 2-3 right now on our way to what could be one of the first losing seasons in a few years...are we "fan enough" to ride it out? Are you telling me that even if we don't win another game this season (which we will), you won't be excited as hell when SMU comes to Denton next season? You thought the Tulsa crowd was good...just wait. I'm not being overly sunny here, just keeping the optimism. I am a relatively new fan compared to some of these guys, but I watched all of the home games in 99 and 2000...we've come a LONG way in just the few years since. Now, on the slightly darker side of the coin...will all those fans who showed up for the Tulsa game pack the stadium again for SMU next year if we aren't coming off a bowl season? The Athletic Dept. might have to work on it, but that game will be well attended no doubt. Lastly, did anyone catch the last few minutes of the Musers yesterday morning? Norm was transitioning in talking about Coach Dodge out in Southlake and the idea of some mid-major program picking him up as a head coach as opposed to a powerhouse program picking him up as a coordinator. Norm mentioned UL-Laf. and UL-Mon...Junior mentioned that we'd take him...that's the worst offense in the country.
  20. North Texas: 17 Louisiana Tech: 38 Man, I hope I'm wrong...but I have to go with what I've seen so far this season from the team...which ain't a whole lot.
  21. I think Carroll is 3rd in the nation, but point taken.
  22. Also, if anyone cares...Rick Yeatts has his shots updated from the Tulsa game on his site. www.rjy.com Remember how excited we were? Remember the anticipation of returning the past two National Rushing Champions? Still Green, I'll still be at all the games...but man, the wind sure got sucked out of the sails of this season. Maybe we can bounce back. Doesn't this say it all:
  23. http://fiufootball.blogspot.com/ Here's one good one. At least the defense is getting fired up. I know that FIU turned the ball over a ton, but it sounded like we were getting some decent pressure on their QB. These guys did put up a couple of TD's on K-State if I remember correctly.
  24. Saw that replay...looked like the guy hurdled the entire line, landed, gathered his balance, and blocked the kick. Amazing.
  25. Wow, that was one of the sloppiest games I can remember watching. The defense played well though considering NY's ability to score. Just like the win over FIU, I'll take it. DeMarcus Ware is turning into a real play maker, and Roy Williams just keeps reinforcing the fact that he is a stellar run-helping safety that is average at best in coverage.
