I remember just a few years back a lot of us were begging for a schedule that featured teams like SMU, Tulsa, and La. Tech in the non-conference slate. I am looking forward to the trip to Tulsa. It can't be any worse of a game than last year...can it? Did we ever find out if La. Tech is still in fact coming to Denton next fall?

UTEP's and SMU's football facilities are obviously WAY ahead of ours...for now. I drove by SMU's stadium for the first time the other day and was absolutely blown away by how nice it is. UTEP's basketball tradition didn't hurt their chances at C-USA either. We desperately need this baseball team...but not as badly as we need a competitive basketball team in my opinion. This is just one more step in the right direction towards our eventual long term goal.

I plan on attending once this week...just not sure which day. Anyone see any of the new guys in action yesterday?

Seemed like I saw a picture of a different recruit somewhere that had been outfitted with a nice green polo with the new logo on it...maybe this kid just got shafted!

I'm still not fond of the use of the word "Middle" as opposed to "Central." UCT or the University of Central Tennessee...The Central Tennessee Blue Raiders...sounds a little bit better in my opinion.

That's kinda a bummer...he had great size.

I agree about Evan Robertson. He seemed REAL quick in two-a-days last year. There was another kid...Payne I think that looked pretty decent too. Don't forget about James Mitchell. Personally, I'd like to see a little more of Keronna Henderson at FB anyway.

I like it. This will be a good opportunity to make the first three Mean Green games of the season fairly easily. I swore I wouldn't go back to Austin after the last time...but I'm already craving football again, imagine what I'll feel like in September!

Sweet...it seems like having great running backs for a few years in a row is starting to pay off in the recruiting battles. Nice to get another one over other mid-major programs like Tulsa and Houston.

I'm surprised that we rarely land any talent from Southlake. I work with one of their wide receivers...Corbin Smiter...6'2", 205, 4.45...who just committed to Rice. A few other Carroll players committed there, but I guess with their new coach Rice is finally ditching that crazy option to run a spread offense very similar to what some of these players ran in high school. I don't know how hard we went after Renfro though.

Bumping to remind everyone. Here's a good picture of Pat from last year's ULM game (courtesy of Rick Yeatts at rjy.com). Notice that the crowd actually looks decent even though the weather was pretty cold that night if I remember correctly.

Did anyone else notice that the awesome safety (Harris, I think) from UL-Monroe last year was starting on one of the best defenses in the NFL this season in the Chicago Bears? It wasn't really a great defensive outing for the Bears against the Panthers this past weekend, but that kid seemed to be out there hitting pretty hard. Good for the Sun Belt to produce some NFL talent.

I'm sure that other bowl games involving BCS teams would ask the same of lowly C-USA refs...some people have too much time on their hands to come posting this junk.

I guarantee you that VERY few students even knew this game was taking place.

Stood in line for 30 minutes getting a West Virginia hoody for a gift...almost all of the North Texas sweatshirts are gone...only like 5 larges left when I went in there. There was, however, a TON of Texas State, Texas Southern, TCU, and even a few Eastern Michigan shirts... ?

Wow, that's classy of you. It seems to me that given the numbers posted above...you guys just weren't the team you were last year. Boley is no longer dominating the middle of the field (he's in the NFL as I'm sure you know), and you guys couldn't hang on to the dang ball. 31-10 vs. 31-19 when you guys were better last year, I'd almost call that a wash. Plus, ASU and class fans don't go in the same sentence in my book...just my opinion.

It's funny that in some of the worst times in our history (1999) we were able to beat Boise State and Texas Tech...what if we were to accomplish OOC wins like that these days?

Man, after the last trip down there...it'll be really hard to go back. I'll be there though.

The bookstore actually has some of those "the franchise" perfect fit hats with new logo combinations in about 5 colors. I like these kinds of hats, but Voertman's has a few new ones also.

After beating Arizona, it looks like Houston knocked off Memphis also. This will be a tough game.
