  1. IF C-USA comes calling again any time soon AND we are selected over La. Tech...it won't be because of football results on the field (at least not our games versus each other). It will be based on facilities (I think we've got them there), basketball results (I think they have us there), attendance/fanbase (equal?), location/market (we definitely have them there), and unfortunately the opinions of current C-USA schools. This is part of the reason UTEP, who was ranked a good 30 spots behind us at the time of the last expansion, Rice, Tulsa, SMU, etc. were selected. I also heard that there was some kind of package deal worked out between the defacting WAC schools.
  2. "It's Not Easy Being Green" would feel more appropriate in recent times...
  3. Pig Sooooieee! What a crazy play.
  4. I'm no music expert...but the first time I remember hearing the "swing" version of the fight song was at a conference title and bowl game clinching win in either 2002 or 2003. It made me think of the type of music that is played in New Orleans, and the "jazzed" up version of the fight song made sense. Also, I agree with Rick..."Fly Like an Eagle" does get played over and over, but at least it's a consistent tradition.
  5. I actually wanted to see the run more. Each time Jamario would get going with a couple of decent runs in a row, we'd throw some hail mary lob down the field to get picked or incomplete. Yeah, Jamario might get stuffed for long portions of the game. But he won't be contained the whole time by MTSU or any other Sun Belt team. Our play action doesn't scare anybody. Why not let Jamario run the ball 30 times and see what happens...it has to be better than that lame excuse for an offense I saw last night. I'm pretty much done with Ramon Flanagan...will NOT miss him when he's gone.
  6. Wow, we hear very similar predictions from MTSU fans every season. Somehow, we just seem to own them. I say nothing changes (we were terrible last year and still won at their place). Middle Tennessee: 17 North Texas: 27 My optimistic attendance predictions lies in the numbers of the players people should want to come see... 20,818
  7. Man, I had to watch that Booger highlight about ten times. He absolutely demolished that double team...like they weren't even there.
  8. Which ACC team did Akron beat last weekend? I want to believe you, but sadly... North Texas: 13 Akron: 38 Again, please prove me wrong!
  9. I work for Southlake Parks and Recreation...and let's just say that we have a few former NFL players coaching teams in our 10 and under and 8 and under flag football leagues. They start 'em very young around here.
  10. Kinda surprised the Southern Miss folks aren't up in arms about that bird head.
  11. 54-2 last season...talk about ouch. I think we've got a shot, but realistically I predict... Tulsa: 34 North Texas: 17
  12. Here are a few that I got... I would have included the whole scoreboard on the last one...but some of the letters in "MEAN GREEN" were not lit.
  13. Patrick Handy Popeye Jones AND Shrek!
  14. Bobby Chase "My friends call me 'Nova..." Vincent Chase Donkey Lips..."Camp Anawanna...we hold you in our hearts..." Pace Doherty Uncle Joey..."Cut...it...out."
  15. Can I just say that that is freakin' awesome.
  16. That's actually not a bad deal...I wonder if we'll do something similar next year.
  17. That sucks...I wish they would have just stayed in Austin. We don't need them around here.
  18. There are game pics up on the athletics main page. http://www.meangreensports.com/PhotoAlbum....800&PALBID=4846 This one's kinda cool.
  19. I think this year will remind of us just how HUGE a signing Jamario was. From the UT board... "Ten bucks says that on th same team, w/ the same o-line, a fully healthy Jamario Thomas is better than Garrett Wolfe." Wolfe went for Heisman caliber numbers against Ohio State yesterday...nice compliment.
  20. Fine, I read it slowly. I just don't see an athletic director EVER saying..."Hey, when we win this game today, let's see if our goal posts are the kind that can be torn down." Congrats on the non-conference win though, the Belt needs all of those we can get. Your original back-handed comment still strikes a nerve though...we played the defending National Champions...you played one of the worst teams in 1-A.
  21. I'll let the fact that your last statement made no sense whatsoever serve as my comeback. Try again.
  22. Texas isn't exactly Army buddy, now go repair your goalpost...we'll see you later this season.
  23. -8 yards rushing...not Jamario's fault though. Before he started cramping up, he had about 4 or 5 good runs in a row. The fumble recovery for a TD hurt the most. For some reason, 49-7 or 49-10 would have felt a little better. Oh well. Bring on SMU, I think we have a great chance.
  24. Thanks Mag...and I could be wrong, but I thought that margin of victory had been removed from the BCS equation. Oh well, it's 56-7 now...Phillips had a good pass to Nwigwe and then coughed the ball up as his feet looked like they were stuck in cement.
  25. Fumbled in out territory, but the fact that our first turnover came in the 4th quarter is kinda reassuring. I agree, he looks like the solid starter.
