My observations on the SMU game last night
PerryG2480 replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
I did hear Randy Galloway and Brian Esteridge talking about the SMU football team and the fact that they are almost bowl eligible. The end of the conversation mentioned that SMU was "flat out embarrassed" up in Denton against that North Texas bunch. Brian said it would probably come back to bite them in the end. No mention of fluke or anything like that. The way I see it, most of the metroplex has no idea if we lost against Troy or Tulsa, but whoever was listening that day knows that we beat SMU. -
No problem, just be sure to vote for our girl on the spirit contest thread a couple spots down the page!
-
It'll take a pretty expensive costume to have anyone believin' that one!

The last game of the season last year boasted a very generously counted attendance of just under 8,000. DD came back. I see an even worse drop off for the end of this season. I'll be at every game that I can...but the paper bag thing is starting to seem like a good idea.

Found the pattern on the UNT website...a couple different ones to choose from.

I think we've all agreed that we'd like to get the Fouts out of Denton.

I use a service called Mixxer.com. I think it cost me like 10 bucks for a 6 month membership. You can upload your own pictures and send them directly to your phone. You can do the same with MP3 files...record the 30 seconds you want of any song in your collection and send it right to your phone. Not too bad. I think it works with most carriers and most phones.

Cast your vote to send UNT dancer to final round o

Wow, she definitely holds her own against those SEC girls (although the one from Florida is gorgeous). She's in the lead right now...everyone vote! -
Simply painful watching the O-line and the D-line play. Our secondary is in on FAR too many tackles. Someone should put together a highlight reel of the stompings we've put on the MUTS in recent years though...to help us remember the good times.

Ark State has passed you by.....

Seriously, go back to Hattiesburg. I'll be sure and come on over to your board and stir things up if you lose to ECU this weekend. Oh, and we are only 2 years removed from our streak of 4 conference titles. My opinion of Southern Miss fans just dropped. (How would ASU have done against Michael Boley who accounted for a huge portion of USM's defense that night?) -
Hell, mediocrity would be an upgrade at this point...I'll take paper.

And by the way Southern Miss people, would it be polite for me to come over on your board and point out how many of the teams in your conference have "passed you by" ??? Because I'd actually have a point. You have your misery, we have ours. -

Give Jamario a break...he was juking and cutting into the secondary all night long. The only times he wasn't successful were when ASU had two or three guys in our backfield right after the hand off. Lineberry is really good, but the rest of the line is below average. I remember one of the early run plays where Lineberry pulled and absolutely tossed a LB out of the play (and out of the camera shot). As for the rest of the SBC passing us by...I will remind everybody that college football is for the most part very cyclical. Look at the fall off of Memphis, the rise and fall of UCF, the rise of Tulsa, etc. in C-USA. Okay, Southern Miss...you've been consistently decent, but even you are far removed from winning your conference titles. The Sun Belt was probably the least cyclical conference for years. You can't be at the top forever. I do feel that we are very similar athletically to most of the teams in this conference. But when you can't even get a decent play call in AFTER A TIMEOUT, and the QB and center are tripping over each other in the 7th game of the season, something needs to be corrected. Last thing, not that it mattered...but how can the officials explain late flags on two huge plays (one a TD) that seemed to be thrown a good 5 seconds after the play was over. Maybe the TV coverage made this seem worse than it was, but it was terrible. Then, ASU's QB throws the ball at least 2 yards past the line of scrimmage with no flag...they went on to score. Again, not that it mattered ultimately, but it was frustrating none the less. -
The O-line was blowing people off the line in the first quarter...but then stAte made the proper ADJUSTMENTS...and then it was feast or famine. Jamario was cutting and juking like he used to though, best player on the field tonight.

Don't expect to show up on OUR TEAM'S fan forum and not be offended by some of the things we say when we're down. If it's the terminology, I'll change it...otherwise, go have your moment.
-
Wanna feel better AND worse at the same time...pop in that 2003 or 2004 highlights DVD and think of better times. Man, how I took those for granted.
-
Dang, would have been nice to have arguably our best player in their returning punts instead of Muzzy tonight...that fumble turned the momentum for good.
-
That 4th and goal pretty much sums it up for me... We have to burn time outs down in the redzone to get a play in, so okay...fine, we'll get a good creative play called or we'll hand it to Jamario and let him do the work...but no, we run some broken a## play that looks like a high school JV squad. Give me a freakin' break. I've been relatively quiet for the past season and half on this topic...but I'll say it now. Athletically, we are not that different than Arkansas State. However, their coaches...along with every other set of coaches we face...put our staff to SHAME. Clean house, RV, please...before you have nothing but an empty house to come home to.
-
Maybe we should install the "let the QB run for his life on a broken play for a first down" offense...seems to be working for stAte.
-
Another tough year guys... Will anyone on the defense make a play? Will we stop looking undisciplined, tripping over our own feet, and making bad decisions? Ever? Their one-sleeve wearing QB is making us look bad...and he thinks he's Kobe Bryant or LL Cool J. Give the Indians (why did ULM have to switch but not these guys?) another year to talk lame pathetic smack...also remind them to win a bowl and run the conference table a few times before they feel like they've completely passed us in Sun Belt prestige. Last thing...did our PA announcers have lunch and decide to use the same schtick? Or did their guy just steal everything our guy does?

don't even waste your time comming to Jonesboro

I bet Jamario could read the scoreboard just fine while he was kicked back watching his back up run for over 160 yards in your mud hole of a stadium last time. Oh, and I like the nice shiny (almost Photoshopped looking) pictures of your stadium that were posted while you dug through the archives to find the ugliest picture of Fouts ever taken. By the way, we make fun of our stadium all the time...it's just more fun to make fun of yours. -
My Advance Apologies to the kissin' kuzins
PerryG2480 replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, we were rolling along like usual...3 out of 4 stAte fans were spelling words incorrectly in their posts, and all was right with the world. Thanks for ruining it Arkstfan. Seriously though, North Texas: 20 Ark. State: 17 -

Well hell, if we're going to talk about the past...how bout we discuss the games from 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004...three of which were total a** kickings! Or...I know, we could discuss the comments of some of your classless fans regarding our running back Jamario Thomas. Ahh..the stAte game makes for good smack each and every season. -
I'll say one thing...it's hard to complain about Fouts after seeing the stadium that FAU plays in. Wow.
-
Regardless...the Sun Belt is hanging well with C-USA this year with wins over SMU, Houston, and Memphis.
