  1. A normally reliable poster over on 5ATexasFootball.com is reporting that Dodge has three Lufkin Panthers in his sites: Dez Bryant: 4 STAR WR - 6'1 195 4.5 (listing LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and others) A. J. Penson: 2 STAR ILB - 6'1 215 (listing Houston, Iowa State, Nebraska, UTEP, and Texas A&M) Ralph Thomas: 2 STAR CB - 5'9 180 (listing only Rice right now) Again, just a rumor right now...but the poster over there has been pretty accurate on things in the past. If we have no shot at the WR, so be it...at least Dodge is recruiting him. Never know, with his system, we might be able to land a WR of that caliber. http://www.5atexasfootball.com/forum/vB/sh...4438&page=4
  2. With Padron, Johnson, and Walker...that will be 3 First Team All-State players. When was the last time we landed anything like that?
  3. Evan Walker anyone? Apparently another impressive recruit on the verge of orally committing...anyone have any info? Stay tuned.
  4. Check out the thread on the 5A Texas Football Forum: http://www.5atexasfootball.com/forum/vB/sh...ead.php?t=14438
  5. I've watched this guy play a few times...this is exciting news. 1st team All-State? Arguably the best player on a defense shutting down some of the best teams in Texas? I'll take this guy any day. Welcome!
  6. Wow, this discussion is going to go nowhere. Notre Dame has more money and resources than probably 98-99 percent of the programs out there. Yes, they deserve it based on their history, tradition, record, etc. HOWEVER, I am not willing to drop to my knees, worship their greatness, and ASPIRE to be like them someday. There was a time in our history when North Texas was on the same level playing field as Louisville (played in the same conference) and Boise St. (played in the same conference and BEAT them frequently). Some of the decisions and tactics used...which we won't get into without starting a 10 page thread...by the administration during the years in between have led to the different levels those respective programs play at today. In other words....coulda been us. Besides, North Texas fans are a different breed. We are truly passionate fans. And although we may be few in number, we don't jump on a Notre Dame bandwagon because it's a "cool team" to follow like so many around the country do.
  7. The stat is was it is...a meaningless stat. I agree with Rick though, Notre Dame has one of the best program's money can buy.
  8. I remember the day that the Dodge hiring was announced, some of my high school staff from Carroll were saying that he would bring both of his coordinators with him. I passed it off as rumor then, but maybe next time I'll listen more closely to the mumblings coming from the halls of SLC.
  9. Keep in mind that when we scheduled teams like La. Tech, Tulsa, Akron, SMU, Arizona, Air Force, etc...we were going to bowl games and most of those teams were cellar dwellers or mediocre at best.
  10. I heard this morning that 87 teams have won bowl games since Notre Dame last won one...including North Texas and Troy.
  11. Thanks for making that happen so quickly, Harry. We appreciate everything you guys do.
  12. It's a no go for me as of right now. Harry, let me know what kind of info. you might need. Thanks in advance!
  13. I am a Recreation Supervisor/Program Coordinator for the City of Southlake Parks and Recreation Department. I plan, implement, and evaluate youth and family based recreation programs for the citizens. In other words...I get to have fun for a living!
  14. Awesome graphics...nice job! Question, how do I display the avatar at 64 x 64 instead of 100 x 100 so that it does not distort?
  15. I agree with the post above about the copyright and logo stuff. HOWEVER...just for fun, NOT for a t-shirt:
  16. LOVE that script helmet...but not for the look of it necessarily. It takes me back to a better time in Mean Green football. Although seeing it again, it doesn't look half bad.
  17. For old time's sake... And for the MTV generation...
  18. Thinking about it more and more...and I see I'm not the only one ...I think it would look really sweet if the wings wrapped around to the back of the helmet to almost meet with each other. It's a great logo...USE IT!
  19. Sorry for the quick "cartoonish" mock ups...there is a good image of the new eagle on a helmet floating around here somewhere. I would take either of these over what we currently have. I think the wings of the son of worm logo could curl around the back and almost meet at a point with the wings from the other side. I might try a white helmet variation...but I just think we'd look too much like SLC or Marshall.
  20. That would be the kelly green that folks keep describing. I agree that the helmets/jerseys should match the school color. I think a kelly green with metallic flecks would look just fine for a helmet. But now that you mention it, every team that I can think of that wears kelly green wears a white helmet. Who knows. I'm NOT a fan of three colors between the pants, jerseys, and helmet.
  21. Anyone think some of those shovel passes and quick slant crossing pattern plays will be exciting to see at North Texas? Personally, can't wait. The North Texas gear got a few funny looks, but most people I've talked to are very understanding. This situation just makes too much sense. The team ran through a huge "Dodge, thanks for the memories" sign after half time...very cool. If you looked just at the stands on each side...it looked like a North Texas vs. SMU game. Same colors.
  22. Not a layout...but there is a Mean Green myspace profile. Just search Mean Green. Needs to be updated though.
  23. Sweet. Nice to see some of those out there.
  24. I would personally like to see the uniform/helmet switch to match our actual school color...that is top priority for me. I'd love the new eagle to be on the helmet, eventually, if we stick with it long enough...people will know that it's North Texas. By the way, Southlake has a hideos fire breathing cartoon dragon head on top of the state of Texas as their helmet logo. Love the colors though!
