While I agree that Mendoza needs to go, a small PART of the discrepancy in the defensive statistics between this year and last is a result of a quick-strike offense that passes the ball as much as ours does. In Dickey's run-based offenses of the past, our opponents had less time to put up as many points (although sometimes we did give up 50+). Even a three-and-out in years past would take more time than some of our drives in which we achieve 2 or 3 first downs. Think about it. Regardless, this is not an excuse. The defense still lacks adjustments, technique and discipline. I wouldn't be sad to see Mendoza go.

The one area that makes me feel better about this coaching staff is their ability to recruit, and even that will have to be proven over time.

Crazy stat of the season so far: North Texas is 0-4 when outgaining the opponent on offense. WTF?

I guess I should have used the word "fans" instead of the word "faithful." All I'm saying is: we've got a lot of good things going on at the University right now with higher school spirit being shown, more students on campus, etc. that I wouldn't want all of that stuff to be diminished by a terrible football team. I was there tonight, and I'll be there again and again. Again, I'm just disappointed in the lack of growth and improvement throughout the season. In fact, I'd say areas such as team discipline and special teams have gotten worse. We can be the most patient of fans because we'll be there for this team through the lowest of lows (and I mean LOW). However, with our dedication also comes the right to criticize, overreact, and pretty much just bitch and moan on a fansite after a tough loss.

I'm just hoping we're not bad for so long that we lose some of the faithful we picked up during the Bowl years.

With all due respect, players like Holman, Jamario, Fitz, etc. are not bad athletes and are on par with anything else the Belt has to offer. I know Dodge will get this thing turned around, but right now his staff is getting schooled. Welcome to college ball. I was being hard on the O-line also until I heard that two starters were out (Bailey and Menard), and then we lost Drake later in the game. This is when Rose moved over to center. In my opinion, our QB wizard coach needs to teach our boy Vizza not to force the ball so often. He looks really good at times, but I don't like that I now EXPECT 3 to 4 picks a game. MTSU's freshman QB stayed calm under pressure...why can't Giovanni? Anyway, I'm still a little bitter. I'm not mad at Coach Dodge, but I thought we would see slightly more improvement throughout the season than what we're seeing here.

Wouldn't miss it.

There's really nothing for us to lose here. The pressure is all on Troy to stay perfect in conference play. I say we go out there and just play hard, and this one will be closer than most expect.

I just watched the TV broadcast, and the environment looked ten times better than what I saw at ULL last weekend. I almost forgot I was watching a Sun Belt game for a minute (shots of full stands during punts and kickoffs!).

We'd win all the time if we cheated too! Just kidding.
