Like I've said before, college football is very cyclical at this level. We will be good again. I just can't convince you (or myself) that it will be under the current coaching regime.

The reason we hate the new look is because we have SUCKED the whole time we've had it. The "script" helmet holds a place in our heart not because of it's cool design, but because the winning the team was doing while wearing it.

This is honestly the worst football I've ever watched. I just have to keep reminding myself of what our conference brethren use to say to us when we were dominating the Belt: This is all cyclical, so enjoy it while it lasts. Good times will happen again for North Texas football. It just won't be any time soon, and I'm starting to think that it won't be with Coach Dodge. Oh, and if any FIU fans read this, which I doubt, because I've never encountered one...ever...the cheap shots to the head were tacky, and what goes around comes around. Karma is a bitch.

For a disturbing reminder, just watch the Tulsa game highlights located on the right of that page. I couldn't make it all the way through. The stadium video is incredible though.

I honestly can't see it getting any worse this season. We might lose to Troy or Ark. State by 40, or ULL or MTSU by 35...but 77-20 to Rice...who is a team we are SUPPOSED to be competing fairly evenly with, is the lowest point I've seen as a Mean Green fan.

They say alcoholics can't make a serious lifestyle change until they've hit absolute rock bottom. Maybe we can finally start our 12-step program now.

No way in hell does our supposedly "improved" team beat their obviously improved team that beat us last year. We will lose that game by 3 touchdowns.

Trying my damndest not to knee jerk here, but I can't remember ever being this embarrassed about our football team. Todd Dodge would make a solid non-BCS offensive coordinator...I'll leave it at that.

Not bad, was hoping for more. I think even in the "glory years" we were rarely, if ever, getting crowds like these.

I'm not too bummed about the game, but I would like to agree about the stadium video. The following things just scream "SMALL TIME" to me: 1. The drumline playing over the extremely important stadium video 2. All the lights not working on the scoreboard for the home opener...I guess we are now the Mean Gre 3. Fireworks going off after we score a field goal 4. Cheerleaders leading stadium-wide cheers while we're on offense. Wow.

That's great news. The ball might finally be rolling. We haven't seen this kind of attention to the stadium in the past.

Saw on the Tulsa board that they're only expecting to send around 1,000 or so. I say 20,150 but I hope for more.

I will say that their QB was a bad ass. There were at least 4 or 5 times I remember that our defense got some heavy pressure on him (or even got a solid hit on him) and he still made a play. That guy will give the Big 12 fits this season.

We said it couldn't get any worse than last year's opener, and it didn't. We will be competitive with a chance to win againt ULL, ULM, FIU, WKU, and possibly MT and FAU. 5 wins is still a reasonable goal. 45-6 is better than 79-10, 56-7, and 65-0...a little better anyway.

Also, UCF is beating themselves up for beating Sacramento State 17-0. They were up 7-0 going into the 4th. I bet they miss Kevin Smith.
