Literally every person I told this week that we were playing Incarnate Word said “who?”. No name opponent and crappy weather. I was pleased by how many students DID show up. Keep winning. Takes time to change the culture.

OFFICIAL INCARNATE WORD vs UNT GAME DISCUSSION
Mad Hatter replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Here at the game. Seems like Incarnate Word guys are getting “injured” a lot, conveniently when they need a time-out or a breather. -
Loved yesterday's episode!

SB NATION/Underdog Dynasty: Apogee Welcomes The Word
Mad Hatter replied to Talon90's topic in Mean Green Football
Interesting question of whether we allow the score to run up (assuming we can) to get Fine more recognition. You would think the Coaches would say "no" because it's not seen as being sportsmanlike, but if big stats for Fine bring more attention and excitement to the program, will they go for it? -

UNT has record crowd for 2018 SMU win
Mad Hatter replied to DeepGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Rewatching now and you are spot on! It’s really loud. Great job crowd!! -
Rewatching the game this morning. The new turf and the end zone look great on tv! Always bugged me on tv the turf had a brown tint. This shade of green is perfect.

UNT has record crowd for 2018 SMU win
Mad Hatter replied to DeepGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Had to watch it on tv. Pissed that I missed it. Crowd looked great. From what I hear the beer lines were long and we didn’t sell beer for Houston. talked to several friends who went who have been borderline fans over the years. They said the tailgating was awesome, game atmosphere (and outcome) was fantastic, and one said it was by far his best UNT experience ever. I think folks will come back for more. But will they come back for Incarnate Word? -
Good grief. Weren’t they getting Top 25 votes at one point?

Send me your questions about Mean Green Football
Mad Hatter replied to Matthew Brune's topic in Mean Green Football
Seems the level of recruits has improved this year with the number of 3 Star guys who have given their verbal commitment. Is this all because of SL? Hiring of a Recruiting Coordinator? Better looking uniforms/helmets? What's different now? -

Do stars matter in recruiting? The data says they do
Mad Hatter replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
At the individual player level, stars matter less. Meaning you will always be able to pull examples of Stars that were wrong (better and worse than their Star ranking), and Stars that were right (Higher star players that are good, and lower rated players that aren't as good). When looking at a large group however, it gives a much better indication of the overall talent being brought in. Of course there will always be exceptions at the individual level, but there will be fewer Classes of players that are wrong.- 16 replies
