My expectation is a lot like Coach. We should consistantly be making it to the Tournament in March and advancing every once in a while. It'd be great to have a team that could win it all, but I really don't see that happeneing any time soon. We should win more than we lose against Non Conference teams.
-
I'd guess part of this has to do with a willingness to go after these recruits. I think our current group of coaches are hesitant to approach anyone over a 3 Star. Too big a shot of getting shot down I guess.

This is a pretty big win. The ULL women were also 11-2 going into this game.

Just heard on the radio

Ok - But other than dramatically changing the stadium, do you have any other ideas?

HORRIBLE HALF-TIME SHOW LONGHORN BAND
Mad Hatter replied to SilverEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Didn't bother me. I thought there band was great and the reenactment of the Beat It video was hysterical! Why can't the Green Brigade look like they're having fun like that............Then again, maybe they do, and I just can't see it from my seats 60 yards away. -
Great Idea!!! Does anyone know RV's email? Maybe we could send him a link to this thread? The ticket give awa to football season ticket holders is an awesome idea! Although true, they wouldn't be making money off the seats, they'd increase revenue of concessions, plus those people might bring non-season ticket holder friends, not to mention possibly gaining some new basketball fans. I'll try to make it with my family, even if NT doesn't do it, we ought to take it on ourselves to spread the word. I bet that would help with potential recruits as well.

Will we know how this recruiting visit went? I'd guess with 4.5 speed they'd put him at linebacker?

I like the chili cook off idea. I didn't know we already had one, so there's a good suggestion to our lurking admin friends.......Publicize the Chili Cookoff! I also likes the idea of auctioning off a spot on the sidelines to give water/ towels or something. I think that would be a great fund raiser. So there's another great suggestion. I knew ya'll could come up with some good stuff. What else?

I was in Collin Creek Mall yesterday, and while walking by the hat store, I glanced in and there it was. In the front window.......2 UT hats, and 2 UNT hats. They were using this hat in both white and black. I was so pumped that we were getting window time with UT.

Alright - I was driving home from work today and I had a couple of ideas about ways to improve the game experience at Fouts, and I thought, Man, I can hardly wait to post those on GMG to get some feedback. Then I thought, If folks from the administration/athletic dept really read this forum, then what a great way for them to get some constructive/innovative ideas. So I'll post my ideas, and ya'll let me know what you think, but if you have some ideas (other than "Fouts Sucks! Build a new stadium!") post them here. It could be like an alumni and student brainstorming session of ways to help. Maybe we could find some things that we as alums could work on as well. Ideas: Move the band out of the middle of the student section and put it on one of the edges. They have some of the best seats on the student side, and end up dividing the students in half. I think it would help to increase the energy level to have the students all together feeding off each other's excitement. Which brings me to my next point: Have some kind of student spirit section and come up with a catchy name for it, ie the Pit Crew for basketball. Technically you could say it's the Talons, but I was thinking of something less organized, that any Joe student who wanted to get loud and crazy could go to sit. Then the cheerleaders would know where to start to get the crowd into the game. Maybe paint the bleachers in that section or something. Which then leads to my last idea: While thinking of names for the student area/section I was trying to think of anything that has to do with the word "Green". First I came up with Greenbacks, or Greenbackers. But then I thought of the Green Zone.....I couldn't think of where I'd heard that until I heard a news story on Iraq and the Green Zone in Baghdad. So I started wondering to myself if maybe we could have an area (maybe in the endzone bleachers) and call it the GreenZone. Then maybe we offer any military personal a free ticket and halfprice to their families, and allow them to sit there. Maybe you paint that section Green, and encourage them to wear camo? So those are the ideas I came up with. Any suggestions? Or critiques? Also let's throw some other ideas around too. UNT Staff, if you're reading this, PAY ATTENTION! You might get something you can use! GMG!!! PS - Sorry for my very first lengthy post.

I don't have tickets, sorry. But what restaurant? I live in East Dallas, but work in Far North Dallas. I'd support an NT Alum if I knew where to go!

I was just on the DMN recruiting page, and the #88 recruit in the Local Top 100 is a 6'3" 334lb OL from Plano (East?). He has no schools listed. He runs a 5.3 40. What would be the reason to have no one going after this kid? Why wouldn't we? If he had grade issues would that keep everyone away?

Merry Christmas Mean Green Faithful! Here's to a Happy New Year for all of us! And especially Mean Green Athletics.

It's official 3 JUCO sign with NT, 4th coming
Mad Hatter replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
Nice to see that we actually WON a recruiting battle with someone, even if it's LaTech, that still speaks well for our program. -
Stupidity or Ignorance, not sure which it is?
Mad Hatter replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Nice to hear it's selling well though. -
Football: UNT picks up JUCO OL Stanley
Mad Hatter replied to MootPoint's topic in Mean Green Football
But have they "signed" yet? Still makes me nervous until they put it in writing. -
I know we're expecting a couple of big ones to sign. Anyone heard if they have?

I have an idea. How about we get the university to allow alcohol in the area around the outside of the Superpit on gamedays? Then we can allow people to set up tents etc... in that area and have a tailgating type atmosphere right outside. IF YOU HAVE BEER, MORE STUDENTS WILL SHOW UP!!!!!! Take that to the bank.

I was at the Galleria Mall a few weeks back and they had several of the One Size Fits All hats with the new logo AND in the new color green. I didn't need a hat but went in and bought one anyway. Hopefully they'll keep them stocked.

Superdome ready for football by Nov 1 '06 ?
Mad Hatter replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Seems like it would cost more to build a new one because of the foundation issues they have in NO. Didn't they have to keep digging down until they hit be drock to lay the support pillars? I bet that gets pretty expensive. -
How's the Pit Crew this year?

If UNT Schedules a 12'th Game for 2006 FB Season
Mad Hatter replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
If we can schedule a regional home game, our attendance gets a boost. See Baylor, Tulsa). I'm convinced that part of our attendance issues stem from the casual fan not caring about the Sun Belt Teams we bring in, so you only get the true fans for those games. Give us someone local or high profile, and we'll get our attendance numbers WAY UP. GMG!!! -
