  1. I've never checked but have been told we're the only High School with 2 Heisman Trophy winners, but 3 would still be cool.
  2. I was surprised to hear he graduated early to go down and start practicing with the team, but it's smart. The High School coaches all raved about how hard he worked and pushed the rest of the team to get better.
  3. Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas - Class of 1993 Famous Alumni Davey O'Brien - Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Brown - Heisman Trophy Winner Trammel Crow - Real Estate/Business Tycoon (just wanted to say Tycoon) Jerry Haynes - Mr. Peppermint Carroll Shelby - Engineered the Shelby Mustang Dusty and Rocky Hill - ZZ Top guys with beards Former US Congress members James Mattox Sam Johnson Sergio Kindle - #1 football recruit from the state of Texas this year- signed with UT. He was in the Top 5 nationally. He was recruited as a Linebacker but we're all hopeful he'll switch to running back and win the Heisman.
  4. Nice article......But what's the plan?
  5. Maybe the week before the NT-SMU game, someone ought to go down to their campus and put UNT stickers on all of their cars. I bet they'd be pretty ticked.
  6. Can we please get some Denton recruits now? Maybe a little more home town support?
  7. I still think UConn and Duke will be fighting it out. Who knew UCLA and Florida had basketball teams? Tha's like picking a team like George Mason or something to make it to the Final Four. It'll never happen.
  8. Look at the attendance vs. Baylor. If we played Big schools all the time our attendance would be closer to 30k on average.
  9. How much of it has to do with our "All Star" teams that have no chemistry because they never play together. Some of the other teams we face will have more than a week or two to practive together and get a feel for the play of those around them. We can throw out the best of the best, but if they never play together, they're impact isn't as strong.
  10. Is it sad that this thread isn't 5 pages long with people saying they're going? When will they learn that they can really market this game and build excitement for the program by having it on a weekend?????? Even coming from Dallas, I'll be hard pressed to make it up tonight, and I'm a pretty big fan. For the average fan? First, they don't know about it, and second, they're not going to make a trip during the work/school week. I hope there is a good turnout, but don't know if I'll be able to go.
  11. I had to leave around 11:30 as well, but here are my thoughts: I liked Wilson the best of all the quarterbacks, and I thought he was in a little more than the others. His passing isn't as strong as Phillips, but I didn't think the difference was significant. They were throwing a LOT more short routes and dump offs, which I liked to see. I just thought that whenever Wilson was out there, the offense was more likely to move the ball. The traditional running game didn't do nearly as well as I've seen in the past, so either they have issues or our run defense is getting better, but when Wilson ran the "veer" (sp?) he'd almost always make about 4 yards, and had some that broke for more. J-Mo and the other running backs had a tough time though they did break a couple of big runs. All in all though there were more 1 and 2 yard pick ups when they ran. All the QB's threw at least one interception that I saw. They tried the option twice that I remember with Wilson at QB and the defense did a good job getting in the backfield and both times the toss was off...I'd guess with more reps that will get cleaner. It was great to see Quinn, out there. He had some grat catches and some runs after the catch. On one running play he came over and absolutley leveled one of the defensive players that allowed the play to develop.. The whole team reacted on that one. No use talking about how great he is, because we all know it, but he's fun to watch even when the play isn't comig his way. I agree that Muzzy had an off day, dropping several that were there for the taking. If the season was tomorrow I'd take Wilson, the "veer", J-Mo and the renewed emphasis on the short/mid yardage passing routes, and I'd like our chances. I worry that by splitting the time of the QB's in practice that no one is getting enough repititions to get really comfortable back there. Even if it was Phillips, I'd say pick one before 2-a-days and let him go. There were more runs after the catch by everyone on those shorter routes, which is something we haven't had consistantly in the past couple of years. We'd almost alway go with a longer sideline route that IF caught would almost immediatley be tackled or run out of bounds. Who's number 89? Is that Burress? he seemed to make some defensive plays pretty much through out the day. I don't remember seeing Gilmore, but I didn't have a roster. I'll post more if I remember.
  12. Here's the story from the NT Daily: Fowler tosses no-hitter for Mean Green NT sweeps doubleheader from Louisiana-Monroe By Lindsay Williams Staff Writer March 02, 2006 NT is undefeated against Louisiana-Monroe after facing them this past weekend at the Tulsa Festival and in a doubleheader last night. The Mean Green went 8-0 in the first game, and struggled to come back from behind in game two. Pitcher Kristina Fowler had a perfect game one holding Monroe scoreless and giving NT their first no-hitter in the history of the three-year program. Houston junior Moncia Garcia put NT on the boards in the second. Austin junior Danielle Rupp hit a fly ball between the second baseman and center fielder. Monroe missed the catch allowing pinch runners Taylor Johnston and Jonna Williams to score. The Mean Green was three runs away from initiating the eight run rule, the momentum seemed to be fading going into the fifth. Left fielder Kadie Platt bunted to get on base and Sarah Jones advanced to second. Katya Muller was hit on the left thigh, walking to first, and loading the bases. After Kelei Walker struck out, Susan Waters stepped up to the plate. Waters had three foul balls before straightening the ball out and making solid contact to complete a triple. She had three RBI to close out the inning and end the game at the early after the fifth inning. The tables turned in game two. Monroe started their freshman pitcher, Talyor Call and proceeded to put up a fight. Things were looking grim going into the sixth as NT was down 0-3. Platt stepped up to the plate and livened up the game with a long double to left field. Muller followed her lead and hit a triple to bring Platt in a put the Mean Green on the board. Walker was walked and dove to steal second while Waters was at bat. Waters had a double to tie the game 3-3. Fowler bunted and was tagged out at first. This allowed Waters to advance to third and get in scoring position for Heather Bostic’s at bat. Waters scored putting NT up 4-3 when Bostic hit a fly ball to right field. Garcia had a single to right field before Rupp ended the inning when her fly ball was caught in left field. The Mean Green held Monroe scoreless, ending the game 4-3. NT will be in Austin March 8 to face No. 2 ranked University of Texas.
  13. I probably wouldn't buy that one, it looks like a girls softball jersey........and that's just not my style. Oh, you mean in a men's version........then maybe.
  14. Can Brandon Irabor catch a football?
  15. So one of his ex high-school coaches is now at MTSU? That answers some of my questions.
  16. 89 Blake Burruss DE 6-7 252 Jr. 2L Oklahoma City, OK (Westmoore HS) I guess I didn't realize we had somebody that big on the Defensive Line. What's his story? Is that skinny for 6'7"?
  17. I went to Galveston this past weekend and Mardi Gras was going on. I think they were expecting the crowd to be bigger than normal because of folks not going to New Orleans for whatever reason. I was on the Strand and overheard some folks discussing maybe going back to New Orleans next year, but were surprised at the celebration in Galveston.
  18. At least they're honest
  19. I didn't realize Dodge coached here in the early 90's. Any chance he'd come back? Probably not, if he turned down a gig with the Cowboys.
  20. I'm excited to see Gilmore get more involved. He's a big guy, and it sounds like he plans on getting some playing time.
  21. Jamario Thomas CAN and DOES squeeze blood from a turnip. That way people will believe he's human instead of a machine. If Johnny "F'n" Quinn can catch anything that comes his way, and J-Mo can't be caught, what would happen if the two came together? My guess? The end of civilization as we know it.
  22. Jamario Thomas CAN stand the heat, but wouldn't be in the kitchen anyway because he's not mortal and doesn't have to eat. Moses didn't part the Red Sea, it was J-Mo.......He was running and the water was afraid to be in his way. Moses just took advantage of the situation.
