Why not build a financial fortress around Littrell now?
Mad Hatter replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
We should adjust his contract this year for he and the assistants. Doesn’t have to be huge but we need to show we’re willing to go higher for what we have. Weve got the top rated recruiting class I’ve ever seen for UNT and the highest in CUSA. If we can push his departure another year we have the opportunity to build on this for 2020. -
Ugh. Thinking of him and his family.

Clearly, the people on this Board are invested in the program. Financially. Emotionally. Intellectually. We care enough to search out extra info and discussions about our program. We (royal) need to figure out how to get the other students/alumni/local sports fans to “buy in”. The coaches, players and ,finally, the Administration are all pulling in the same direction. We’ve got big donors coming out of the woodwork. We are waking the sleeping giant but it’s a DEEP sleeper. 15 years ago you had MAYBE a 1,000 people at Fouts for that same game. It is getting better, but I feel like everyone is expecting Lucy to pull the football away from Charlie Brown. Really, I feel like if we could just get more folks on GoMeanGreen.com we’d turn them into fans for life. Kinda rambling. We’re bleeping 6-1!!!! GMG!!

UTSA’s new Cannon is ferocious we should fear them

But.......it’s just a box......? -
Rain was the only reason ones there today. Softball games for one of my kids was cancelled. I won’t be at Homecoming because of another daughter playing volleyball. I’m in my early 40’s with kids. We came to ALL the games in the mid 2000’s before our kids got involved with stuff. I won’t be able to make every game again until my kids are out of the house s long as they’re still involved in stuff. Some of the older alumni (my dad for example) never cared about NTSU football and I can’t convince him to change now. It just wasn’t ever a priority when he went to school there. I know we could have had more students there today, but I was happy to see as many that did show up. It’s getting better. It’s just slow. It’s frustrating that more don’t “jump on the band wagon”.

Oh yeah! This one too. Who’s supposed to call for the challenge? The coach? The booth?
-
Agreed. Both calls were crap.

Great write up.

We are 5-1 on the season. I was disappointed with the UTEP win last night but started to question myself and my expectations. I realize now that I didn’t just want a win, I wanted a blowout. I wanted to show the college football world that we were as good as everyone talked about after the 4-0 start and SMU/Arkansas dominations. After years of following this program I fell victim to believing the “miracle” season was here. We were going to elevate ourselves to the upper tier of college football. We’d be considered a powerful program that really should be playing in a higher tier conference. No longer would be little old North Texas. No longer would our Alumni send more time/money following UT and A&M instead of their own school. They’d have to believe. LaTech was just a hiccup. By coming back and beating the crap out of UTEP, maybe we’d get back some of the mojo. These were my thoughts and why these last 2 games have been so disappointing. I fell for the hype. I wanted it to be true and for the whole world to see UNT the way I want them to be. We are 5-1. Regardless of the scores we’re still in a great spot. This may not be the year we thrust ourselves into the national spotlight, but the culture is changing at North Texas. We’ve got record large donations coming into the program. We’ve got an awesome recruiting class waiting to make their mark. Things are changing and I (and maybe others) need to enjoy the good without worrying about living up to the hype. This has been a great way to start the season. I have no doubt we’ll be in a bowl game somewhere. We’re making progress.

Tough win. Hope this helps build confidence. First, close, come from behind win this season. Still leaves some questions.
-
I guess that’s one way to “catch” the ball and get receptions.
-
I’m an idiot. I’m sitting here switching back and forth between the SMU game and the Liberty game hoping they win so our wins look better, when in reality we’re like UTSA last year that started out 3-0 and was trying to figure out how they’d be kept out of the National Championship game. Maybe we’re still North Texas. Ugh.
-
And furthermore, WTF with all the MF’ing drops?!?!? We’d be blowing the doors off if some of our “sure handed” receivers could catch the bleeping ball!!
-
Seriously. WTH is that play calling??
-
they’re not worrying about us running. At all.
-
Needed that!!!!
-
Well crap!
-
Can't bring myself to watch it yet.

Muffed punt, blocked field goal, missed field goal, offensive line not blocking for 2 quarters, and some questionable penalties that kept LaTech drives going in the first half. Coaching ? Lack of concentration?
-
Will the La. Tech game be a sellout? (POLL)

Orange is filling up fast. Big line of cars to get in. -
Ha! My wife and I had a discussion about him not using a cutting board. Great episode! Was kind of disappointed Coach pulled back on the “getting after their ass”.
-
Is it possible the whole team wears 75? Like they do in baseball where everyone is 42? i guess it’s almost impossible for the refs to get the penalties assigned to the correct player.

It seems like I read somewhere that we’ve finished this year’s recruiting class, and I know that just about all of them are 3 star recruits. My question is this: with the season we are having is it possible that a 4 Star might look at us and say that’s where he wants to go, and if that happens is there a way that we find room for him? I realize this scenario isn’t likely but could we make a spot if that happened? This is more my recruiting ignorance, but fun to speculate!
