  1. Such a beating! It's like KNTU doesn't really want you to find the button so they hide it at the bottom, so in your phone you've got to keep scrolling down and hope you don't accidentally hit an advertisement in the way.
  2. My original post turned into another topic, so I wanted to hear your feedback on this. Can we/should we move the band down another section or two towards the endzone? It breaks up the student section a bit, and with the band going down to the field before the game and at halftime, it takes some of the student/crowd energy away. Plus on TV games when they show the crowd during those times it's a big hole. I know the good part of having them there is the large crowd in that section even when the students don't show. Are we not there yet? If we could consistently get more students there would it be time to move them? Or will they always be in that spot even if we were selling out games every week?
  3. At the game tonight. 2 thoughts. It looks bad when the band isn't in the stands before the game, and at halftime. It may be time to move them closer to the end zone. Also - Alumni who reserved seat backs behind the visitor sidelines and in front of the students....if you're going to reserve those seats, get your a$$ to the game!! I'm sure the students would love to be closer and be able to heckle the opponents.
  4. They've got PR problem now. We have a HUGE laundry list, made public, of all the stuff wrong with the program. If I were Wren I'd take the same approach he made with the game surveys. Get someone to start writing up all the stuff that has been done already to fix stuff (tell us you've mowed the grass and cut the weeds) and lay out some plans to fix other stuff. Right now we're all wringing out hands about stuff that may or may not have already been fixed. Make it public for a while. Create a section on Meangreensports.com to post that info and assign a staffer to update it every few weeks. Maybe include a link to make donations for specific action items? Probsbly wouldn't have to continue it for more than a few months. The Mean Green faithful would see that the easy stuff had been addressed and would know the other stuff was being worked on. This doesn't have to be NEGATIVE! They can use this as a huge positive to say "Look at all the stuff we're doing" and "we're active", "you don't have to worry about the same old mentality any more".
  5. You think this is one of the reasons Wren hired a CFO for Athletics??
  6. It kind of feels that we, who've been the die-hard fans of the program, have been kicked squarely in the junk. We, who have been to the games, who have given to the program with the hope that if we just kept up our support, if we just took a friend to the game, we could move this program to another level, while behind the scenes was just a bunch of suck and no one being held accountable for the level of suck-ness. Always wondering why other schools could make the transition, and the jump to the next level, while we were stagnant. Ugh. I'm glad we spent $20k on the report. Why not? We've finally paid someone to pull the curtain back and expose the man behind the curtain playing Oz. You can't truly build for the future if you don't know your starting point. It really looks like RV could tell we needed to allow Tailgating and we needed a new stadium, and the administration said "Yep. Sounds Good." and all the other problems were just attributed to "it's just UNT. The fans don't support. The Alumni don't care." and everyone just accepted that. I'm going to get a bag of ice and sit with it in my lap until this afternoon when Beyond The Green comes on. Then I'm going to get pumped about our win over Rice, and I'm going to make plans to be up in Denton on Saturday that I wasn't making before.
  7. I'm hoping for great crowds and support for these 2 games, and I think we split 1-1.
  8. I listened to the game on the radio and thought, multiple times, that it sounded like a Home game. Great crowd noise compared to Rice, and our band was great. At one point my daughter came in to listen with me and she said "It's in Denton? We should have gone." Props to everyone who went. Go Mean Green!!
  9. Pumped! At 17-0 I was wondering why I sit and listen to this crap, and then it got awesome!!
  10. UNT 24 Rice 17 Let's double our number of wins over last year!
  11. It is difficult explaining at the water cooler why we feel the need to get our a$$ kicked every year by a Top 25 program. The "at least we're getting paid $1mm" argument makes the program sound pretty weak.
  12. I noticed the announcer stopped saying "Like an Eagle" after he said "Let it Fly". That was such a beating. Also noticed in Game 1 the stadium was playing fun/hip hop music after every single play, much like you would get at a basketball game, just constant music. I think it interfered with the band playing what they wanted to. Game 2 there was still music on the sound system, but they did a better job of allowing the band to play a thing or 2. Love the Big Screen and patio atmosphere behind the Wing, just think they should also show the UNT game on another monitor instead of just the Alabama game. PS - I was late going into the game, but noticed that the Greek tailgating area was almost a ghost town compared to years past after kickoff.
  13. Yep. No idea.
  14. Florida 63 UNT 10
  15. Baylor with 5 turnovers?
  16. We started parking on the street that runs behind the Pancho's shopping center. Never any problem with availability, plus it's free. A little bit of a walk over to the stadium but not awful. We walk over to the Budweiser tailgating area.
  17. Ugh. Just not convinced it'll be a quick turn around. SMU 42 UNT 30
  18. Joe Mama
  19. Fun to think about, but I don't think we're going anywhere for a while unless we start winning at something.
  20. Had a great time at the UNT Alumni mixer last night. Met some great alumni from the area, as well as some good folks from the University. I thought it was nice to have an opportunity to just mingle, not have a set agenda or presentation. There were around 60 of us, lots of folks wearing green, on a Tuesday night in Fort Worth. Very encouraging. I know they have several of these set up in other areas over the next several weeks. I'd encourage everyone to go if it's in your neck of the woods. Other "big time" schools can do these on a regular basis, lets at least prove we can do them once. Go Mean Green!
  21. I'll be there! Tell your friends. A strong alumni group is part of what builds a loyal, proud fan base. We need these to gain traction! Go Mean Green!
  22. I went to the Fort Worth event and had fun. I had never been to one of these before at any location, so I'm not sure if we had a good sized crowd or not, but I was very impressed with the accessibility and outgoingness of all 3 coaches. Litrell went out of his way to come talk to me, and a couple other guys, who were holding up the wall at the back because we didn't know anyone. He seemed like a really good guy who's ready for fall to get here.
  23. I'm signed up for Fort Worth. Excited to hear from this group!
  24. Anybody remember the Todd Dodge era, when even in games where the offense started moving the ball (not go 3 and out on incomplete passes, running no time off the clock), our defense just didn't have the ability to keep the other team from scoring 1 more touchdown than we could? Good times.
