West Standings ULL 10-2 Denver 9-3 UNO 6-6 UNT 5-7 USA 5-7 NMSU (who cares?) We play UNO and USA at home next week. We may be able to slip into a 1st round bye in the tourney.

South Alabama - 68 UNO - 61

Great exposure! Only good things to come from this program.
-
Excellent win! Barnett & Simpson gave Nicholson fits all night long. He ended up 5-17 from the floor and fouled out. The Pit Crew & the Talons were awesome once again. I really think the two groups alternating North & Texas when we play defense is pretty intimidating for the opposing team. Y'all should do that more often. Heck, we can't count on our lame cheerleaders to do it. BTW, whoever thinks UNT b-ball is boring should have gone to this game!
-
That is true. We are a deep team, but our starters have to play the majority of the game. If Mike Jones can stay out of foul trouble, he can really cause some headaches on defense.
-
SBC player of the week, two weeks in a row. He averages 19 ppg and almost nine rebounds a game. We have 4 good post players that can get a body on him every time. Fouling him should not be a concern. He shoots 62% from the FT line. With Simpson, Barnett, Harris, and Williams we should be able play him tight without being concerned with foul trouble. On offense, Leonard and Calvin need to take the ball right to him. They are both very good at drawing fouls and could get him into foul trouble. That's my take. What's yours?
-
What I meant was that Hopkins has applied for a redshirt and could play next year. I think going to the hole is Leonard's strong point. He goes to the line probably more than anyone in the Belt and makes 85% of his free throws. I think shooting wild-arse three's is his downfall.
-
The way tickets are sold has no bearing on what I think of the game. The atmosphere could be better, but don't you think with more people in the stands that could take care of itself? That's why it is important for those of us that love the Green regardless, to attend these games to encourage others to come again. You're right Tony, it's not the best, but, we as fans, can make it that way.

will be good!! Players returning: Calvin Watson - G/F Jr. Isaac Hines - PG Sr. Jeff Simpson - F Sr. Ty Thomas - G/F Sr. Quincy Williams - F So. Michael Sturns - G So. Justin Barnett - C Sr. Ron Harris - F Sr. Coming in Next Year: Kendrick Davis - G Jr. (Transfer from Arkansas - averaged around 8 ppg in two seasons) Jared Ruffin - G Jr. Harold Stewart - 6-8 Fr. Justin Howerton - 6-10 Fr.
-
Actually, they called timeout before inbounding the ball. As far as a double-team goes, I'm not sure, but Isaac Hines was in his face when he shot the ball.
-
I think the thought on not guarding the inbounds pass is to have 5 defenders on four offensive players. With three seconds to go, this makes sense, because the man throwing the inbounds pass will not be involved in the play. Winchester made a very unlikely shot.
-
Winchester was just too much all game long. Man, that guy is awesome. Simpson,Watson, Hopkins, Barnett all played great!! Even though we lost, this shows that when this team is on we can play with any team in the league. Tough to swallow this loss.
-
What was wrong with Ty Thomas in the last game? Is he hurt?
-
We looked really good in stretches tonight. Simpson was a force on both ends of the floor. Hop was back to form. Hopefully, we play this well against MUTS on Thursday.
-
So, if the tourney started today.... The Men play at TWU vs. Fla. Int'l The ladies play the winner of Denver (3-16) vs. Fla. Int'l (13-6)
-
My back-ups would be: PG: Sturns SG: Thomas SF: Jones PF: Harris C: Williams
-
Coach, I agree that moving Jones to the 3 would be a much better fit for him. But, Williams instead of Barnett? Quincy is shooting 19% from the floor inleague play. Justin is at 62% for the season. Our guards and wingmen have been shooting so poorly, some sort of threat on the inside could open up better shots for them. Hopkins is shooting 32% in conference.

PG - Isaac Hines SG - Leonard Hopkins SF - Calvin Watson PF - Jeff Simpson C - Justin Barnett

We need a big rebound against FIU on Monday night. Games like this happen sometimes. During a game there are usually one or two guys that can't hit their shots. Unfortunately, last night it was our entire team.
-
I'm glad the conference schedule is finally here!! Tonight's games: Western Kentucky (10-2, 0-0) at UALR (9-5, 1-1) NMSU (4-10, 0-1) at New Orleans (6-6, 1-0) ULaLa (6-7, 0-1) at S. Alabama (3-10, 0-2) MUTS (11-4, 1-0) at Arkansas St. (9-5, 2-0) UNT (8-4, 1-0) at Denver (6-6, 1-0) Three really good matchups tonight, featuring six of the top teams in the league.

How can they make a race issue out of this? This article makes it seem as if he is God's gift to OC and the only reason he is not coaching at USC is because of the color of his skin. Geez, have they watched any of our OOC games for the last four years?
