  1. There was a kid in Denton that played under the same circumstances. Might have just been middle school/freshman football. My brother knew him.
  2. If Troy beats us, we'll be on it. I can't believe USF beat the hell out of Louisville.
  3. Yeah, he really dropped the ball when he pushed the Civil Rights Act through.
  4. There was a post by a user on this board that I believe might be Thompson's mom or dad indicating some unrest in the player-coach relationship. This is probably fallout from that.
  5. Blowed out? Is this post about Kate Moss or about Monica Lewinsky? I'm confused.
  6. Agreed. Please note that I'm not hypothetically advocating a permanent change in strategy. I just want to see a damn gametime adjustment. A reaction to stimuli, if you will.
  7. There's a huge difference. There was a time not too long ago when even Texas and OU couldn't score more than 35 points on us. 54-2 is WAYYYYYYY worse than 35-10 or 27-0.
  8. Let's say you're the coach of a non-BCS college football team. One that has had some pretty reasonable success in recent years. Your bread-and-butter is running the football. Old School. You've been blown out in 2 of your last 3 games, with your rushing attack either slowed or completely stopped. Both of the 2 winning teams used the same strategy to do it. Now you have a road game against a pretty good BCS team. Just by this you know you're somewhat outgunned. At halftime, they're up 31-0. Your running game has gone NOWHERE. Their defense is completely ignoring the fact that you even have wideouts. You evaluate your strategy for the second half. Do you: A. keep running into the pile of bodies for no gain. Three and out every drive, strand your poor defense on the field because you are so G-D stubborn. B. realize that you are getting killed, and decide to take some risks. Tell your freshman QB to throw on every single down until the defense backs off of the RB. Incompletions and interceptions be damned.
  9. Something not to be taken seriously? You mean like suggesting that we lynch someone who jokingly favors an increase in the price of beer, or do you mean making a reference to an old-ass Pace Picante Sauce commercial starring the legendary Burton Gilliam?
  10. Get a rope.
  11. At least the officials reviewed Neally's TD. They initially called him down at the 1. I was pretty sure he made it to the pylon. BTW, I think the announcers were actually ATM's radio guys. They were saying something about it being a "simulcast," and I noticed the sideline reporter was wearing an ATM shirt.
  12. Yes, yes, yes. If you sit anywhere in the eastern half of the pressbox side, you probably heard me yell at Dickey on every personal foul. Well, every one until the end of the third quarter, when I LEFT. I did read a quote from his post-game press conference saying that he needed to do a better job of "teaching the rules," as well as a few other strong words about it. It sounded good enough that I'm giving him a 1-game reprieve from getting yelled at by me(*), but if the personal fouls continue, I'll let him have it again. (*) --not that he cares. Some 12-year old girl down the row was making fun of me about it though. Pretty funny.
  13. I may be alone on this, but I think it's a good move. Mendoza seems to get the most love on this board, but other than a couple of well-timed (and easy) interceptions, I can't think of a lot of big plays that he's made. Monroe seems to be faster and is at least as sure a tackler. Mendoza is good, and should play, but I think Monroe is the starter. Still waiting to see Travis Thompson in action too.
  14. How can I put this gently.... !@#$!@#$^%#$^&%$&*$%&*#$%^!@#$% NO.
  15. We'll pour one on the ground for you, bud. Won't be the same without you. I do promise to yell at Dickey for you if we get any personal fouls.
  16. I thought that only applies to a defender. Not arguing, just trying to learn something.
  17. Those look great.
  18. Looked like a good block to me. What was illegal about it? The clock running thing was totally wrong though. Typical TCU officiating.
  19. I'll be coming all the way from north Denton. My tailgate should be around 25 strong with people coming from Arlington, Pottsboro, Colleyville, Round Rock, and Galveston.
  20. Wow. I can detect some hints of humor in there, but I really only get about 25% of it. Maybe I'm not as sharp as I thought, or maybe it lost some formatting in the copy-and-paste?
  21. Last year the "Bend but Don't Break" defense sucked because we couldn't tackle an old lady in a phone booth. If the MTSU game is any indication though, we have apparently learned to tackle, so maybe it will work this year.
  22. What he said. As for when we have the ball..... Peterson had 220 yards rushing against Tulsa. Maroney had 160--- in the first QUARTER. That, in itself, doesn't guarantee a win for us, but be prepared for a world-class display of rushing prowess. Cobbs and Thomas should have a great game.
  23. Well, his team did beat us..... As for the CFN guy's comments, it's just his HSO. Don't read too much into it.
