I don't know him, and have no inside coaching info, but based on the game he coached this year, he seems like a bit of a Dickey Disciple. I think he did bring in some good recruits though.

I think Nate's comment on NT not paying enough was pretty funny. I guess it depends on the tone of the statement and the conversation, which I did not hear. But that doesn't come through when somebody types it on a message board, so a bunch of people start freaking out and bashing Nate Newton. If I was Tre Newton, trying to make my own way in football in spite of my dad's infamous legal problems, I wouldn't appreciate it.

Good deal. I'm glad to hear from someone that saw him play rather than a bunch of panic from people just based on his size/speed.

I am optimistic that at least one of our 3 QB's from last year will develop into a solid, serviceable QB. I think they have all shown flashes of ability.... Woody during the SMU game, Phillips for several half-games over the last 1.5 seasons, and Meager in various times over the last 2 seasons. I have let myself become convinced that DD's staff coached the confidence right out of those guys, and Jamario. My primary hope for this year is that Jamario returns to Super Jamario form.

I'm relieved to see an assistant with college coaching experience, and at the coordinator level too. Sure he wasn't in a spread offense, but a little diversity is a good thing here, I think. It seemed like we were stacking the deck with too many high school coaches.
