Hawkins has 11 more wins at Colorado than Dodge has at UNT and Hawkins was 53–11 at Boise State. You have head of Boise State right? A little more competitive than Southlake

Only at UNT would a head coach with a career record of 5-31 have a chance of getting a 4th season.

If RV retains Dodge for next season and TD goes on to another 2 or 3 win season, what should happen to RV? Shouldn't there be some type of check on him for making the wrong decision twice?

Well what is Dodge going to tell them if he does get to keep his job. Come to UNT where you won't play next year because your a freshman and I have to win and if we don't win I will be fired. If Dodge is back the next two recruiting classes will be terrible.

If Dodge returns, he already is locked in for six losses and more likely seven. @Clemson, Kansas State, @Army, @Middle, Troy, @ Florida Atlantic. What magic potion do you see that will guarantee a win in the rest of those games?

Dodge would have to win 20 consecutive games to total the same number that Sam Houston just fired their coach for. In his tenure at Sam Houston State, Whitten has accumulated an overall record of 25-28, including a 16-17 record in conference play. Some candidates who could be considered for replacing Whitten include Abilene-Christian's Chris Thomsen, West Texas A&M's Don Carthel, and Blinn College's Brad Franchione, Jr. "I don't know," said Carthel, who has coached four conference champions en route to a 90-53-1 career record. "I'd have to talk with them and think about it."

I don't think this is all RV's decision. There is pressure from the administration at UNT because of the risk that Dodge was when he was hired. The risk being a high school coach with a coaching staff with no college experience. Now that we have the results of this experiment, RV is going to have to fix his mistake either because he knows it is the right thing to do or because he is told to do so.

Your right...the win/loss record speaks loudly enough by itself for that.

How many times has Dodge now been quoted this season or the last two seasons after a game talking about a devastating loss? Why does he keep saying that? Is he that out of touch with his team? A devastating loss is when you lose a game that would send you to a bowl game or win a conference championship. A devastating loss doesn't happen on a 2-8 team that turns the ball over five times, misses a PAT and has a field goal block after sideline chaos. And why would he even continue to mention "devastating" to his players. Players bounce back from losses very easily when they lose 30 games in three seasons. These loses are not devastating, this coaching staff is.

Anyone see the "miked" up segment on the MG Insider with Stephens? Wow this team is in trouble. It seemed like it was an intramural game. No way Capps would have lost to SFA by 30. SFA lost 14 games last season and finished 4th in the Southland conference.

Yea I am sure there will be offensive gurus falling all over themselves to join a staff that has won 5 games in three years.

What would be the mistake? We currently have one of the worst head coaches in Div 1A history. What does this program have to lose since any ounce of respectability has long been gone. Of course if RV is doing the hiring who knows.

39 - 67 I'm thinking who ever RV reports to may want to tap the breaks the next time a new coach is hired and is given a five year contract. I think RV also extended the contract of DD when it was not necessary and we ended up paying for that as well
