  1. I'm not attempting to be negative, just pointing out the truth. What have I said that has been negative and not truthful. As a former journalist I believe you present the facts and let the public decide, unlike some who want to present the picture as rosy & no work needs to be done.
  2. Biggest crowd of the season and it still isn't 50 percent of the seating's capacity (10,000).
  3. Rick, I believe that "the writer" made it clear that "the number he used for this year included games up only up until now which included all games over the holidays when everyone was gone. The number was lower last year for this period." I also believe that the number of games is quite a bit different. I would have been there on Thursday, but my attendant's sister had a stroke. To get to Denton from Lancaster in my wheelchair I would have had to leave on Tuesday. My plan is to be there on Saturday. And in answer to your question, No I don't think it's funny that people who examine the facts come up with the same conclusion.
  4. Be real! If we somehow make the tournament, we'll be a 15 or 16 seed. And Duke will either be a 1 or 2. We were 1 and done last year, when we hosted the tournament. To expect a win in the NCAA Tournament is F'n ridiculous. Expecting to make the tournament is almost as ridiculous.

I agree, see what the Pizza Man says about promoting this game. There might be enough time to do a decent promotion.
  6. Hell, I'll sell my NT - UT tickets for $60 a piece.
  7. And Rick thinks he promtes basketball enough and did a good job of promoting the SBC tournament. Numbers speak louder than promises.
  8. From the DMN recruiting Blog Coppell’s Sykes could be a steal for North Texas Staffer Brandon George had this to say about Coppell's Marquis Sykes: Coppell defensive end Marquis Sykes had a standout senior season after growing up over the summer. Sykes could turn into a great find for North Texas’ 2006 class after he committed to the Mean Green on Sunday. Sykes is one of those hidden gems in the recruiting game. Sykes didn’t start gaining much attention until his senior year, when most recruits these days start to make a name for themselves well before their last season in high school. Sykes went from 6-1, 205 as a junior to 6-3, 230 as a senior. His bench press increased from 215 to 305 pounds, and he dropped his 40-yard dash time from 4.9 to 4.7 seconds. Gaining size and strength while not losing speed turned heads. He was getting attention from Kansas, Wyoming and UT-El Paso early last season, but North Texas came through in the end. Jesuit coach Bob Wunderlick had this to say about Sykes after Sykes had two sacks and three quarterback hurries against Jesuit in Coppell’s season-opening win: “He makes plays. He has long arms and is a big, good-looking, athletic kid. He’s the real deal."
  9. From what I know, he's a recruited walk-on. He's not on scholarship this semester, but if he makes the team out of Spring Ball, he will get a scholarship. I could be incorrect, but this is what I've heard. But it's a good pick up no matter how he got here. If Super J's happy, then I'm happy.
  10. Rick, I don't think Allen is one of Flanigan's schools.
  11. I can't believe that DD's not going to offer Brent.
  12. Speaking from experience, on recruiting, you don't report commitments unless you hear it from the kid's mouth. Vito probably could not get a hold of Sykes. AS a reporter, you'd rather leave a story incomplete than report incomplete information.
  13. HONORABLE MENTION OFFENSE Linemen: Robert Ramirez, Galena Park North Shore; Corey Smithers, Copperas Cove; Rey Quintanilla, San Benito; Dimitri Lott, Marshall; Adrian Archie, Huntsville; Michael Sanchez, Sharyland; Kegan Carey, Abilene; Juan Martinez, Copperas Cove; Buddy Brumit, Garland; Bryan Ferris, Katy; Drew Chasney, Mesquite; Raymon Chinyoung, Spring Westfield; Jacob Posey, Hays; Kevin Winters, Jay; Roger Cantu, McAllen Memorial; Marcus Cannon, Odessa; Sean Trotter, Odessa Permian; Charlton Messer, Dallas Jesuit; Esteban Santiago, EP Coronado. Honorable mention on Offensive line, not D Line, where he is slated to play for NT. Still not a bad signee.
  14. This kid is Bengal's QB Carson Palmer's little brother.
  15. The story is no longer available, WHAT DID IT SAY?
  16. I'm still waiting on my 2005 mini from JoRo Sports.
  17. This team losing by 28 to Ark. State is inexcusable. FIRE Slinker NOW.
  18. Baz makes first PAT after a Brad Smith score
  19. Circumstances made the alteration of Robinson’s contract with the Navy beneficial for both parties. His height, 7-1, made it impossible for him to serve on a ship or a submarine. It also made it dangerous for him to serve at a Naval air base. The Navy went to David after his sophomore year, when it became evident that he had NBA-type talent and made a plea to him. If he would stay in the Naval Academy and not transfer to another school, which he still could do, they would work with him on his Naval service commitment if he was drafted into the NBA. The Naval Academy received a large amount of publicity and money from the NCAA because of Robinson and him leading them to the great 8 in his junior season. During Robinson’s career, Navy piled up a 106-25 record from 1983 to 1987 — the best-ever four-year stretch at the Academy. Included in that run was one Eastern College Athletic Conference championship, two Colonial Athletic Association titles and three-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. The Navy used Robinson’s unequaled popularity among High School age fans to increase the volunteer enrollment with the slender Naval officer as the center piece of the recruiting efforts. The Navy released him of his obligations after two years because he was a prime example of what the Navy can do for someone. Enter as a normal plebe and exit as a well-respected officer and gentleman. (I know that’s corny, but it’s true). David did more for the Navy playing his NBA career in San Antonio, a city whose life blood is the military, than he would of if served 20+ years in the service. Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but I wanted the record straight on Robinson.
  20. That's another reason to use a debit or credit card. Debit they get it immediately and you feel the sting instantly. Credit, they still get it immediately, and you get a grace period. If you use a credit card, pay it off every month. If not use the debit card. The interest will kill you.
  21. Still waiting on mine!
  22. I do believe Rick gets too much credit for what he has done while at NT. Do I think he should be fired immediately, NO. He has done a decent job, but he has taken us as far as his Pizza Man business approach can take us. We need an Athletic Director who puts the University first and is not applying for every lateral job opening that becomes available.
