  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?i...000000000000000 Updated: Feb. 12, 2007, 10:03 AM ET Cuban says openly gay player would clean up ESPN.com news services Mark Cuban might be the Mavericks owner, but he thinks an openly gay NBA player would be a trail blazer, and a rich one at that. "From a marketing perspective, if you're a player who happens to be gay and you want to be incredibly rich, then you should come out, because it would be the best thing that ever happened to you from a marketing and an endorsement perspective," Cuban told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for Monday's edition. "You would be an absolute hero to more Americans than you can ever possibly be as an athlete, and that'll put money in your pocket. "On the flip side, if you're the idiot who condemns somebody because they're gay, then you're going to be ostracized, you're going to be picketed and you're going to ruin whatever marketing endorsements you have." Cuban was reacting to the announcement by former NBA player John Amaechi that he is gay. The controversial Mavs owner praised Amaechi. "When you do something that the whole world thinks is difficult and you stand up and just be who you are and take on that difficulty factor, you're an American hero no matter what," Cuban told the paper. "That's what the American spirit's all about, going against the grain and standing up for who you are, even if it's not a popular position."

  5. Oklahoma to face NCAA Infractions Committee Associated Press NORMAN, Okla. -- The NCAA alleges Oklahoma failed to adequately monitor the employment of several athletes, including some football players who worked during the academic year. The NCAA's findings came in an investigation after Oklahoma self-reported violations and dismissed starting quarterback Rhett Bomar and offensive lineman J.D. Quinn in August for taking excess pay from a Norman car dealership where they worked. Oklahoma disclosed Monday that it had received its notice of allegations from the NCAA and is scheduled to appear before the NCAA's Committee on Infractions on April 14 in Indianapolis. Oklahoma also appeared before the committee last April following an investigation into hundreds of improper recruiting phone calls by former basketball coach Kelvin Sampson's staff. "We are eager to move forward toward the conclusion of this matter," Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione said in a statement. Oklahoma claims it did not detect the football players' employment because the players did not complete required forms. The university also claims it was transitioning duties at a time when the NCAA alleges that Oklahoma failed to collect some of its monitoring forms in a timely manner. "From our perspective, any allegation related to our monitoring activities, no matter how limited, is not warranted," Castiglione said in the statement. "The NCAA does not appear to be contesting the speed of our response or the action that we took." "I think any school would agree that monitoring practices can always be improved, and we constantly seek to improve our practices, but we also recognize that it was our staff that originally uncovered and reported the violations that had occurred. Upon completing our investigation, the university took action above and beyond what was required under the NCAA rules." Bomar and Quinn were both dismissed from the program and transferred to Division I-AA schools -- Bomar to Sam Houston State and Quinn to Montana. Bomar was ordered to pay back more than $7,400 in extra benefits to charity, while Quinn was told to pay back more than $8,100. Oklahoma has also banned athletes from working at the Norman car dealership where Bomar and Quinn were employed until at least the 2008-09 academic year and has moved to prevent the athletes' supervisor at the dealership from being involved with the university's athletics program. The dealership is now under new ownership. Oklahoma also will reduce the number of football coaches who are allowed to recruit off campus this fall.

  10. This is a project for GMG.com. Let's try and sponsor 1000 or 2000 from the Reserve Base in Fort Worth to come to the game. Put them in the endzone. We would need to handle it, because the kids day a couple of years ago was such a disaster.
  11. 2007 Official Invite NFL Combine List No Johnny Quinn or Dylan Lineberry on invitation list to NFL Combine on February 21 - 27, 2007 at the RCA Dome. How are players selected for the NFL Combine? Participants are determined annually by a Selection Committee. The Directors of both National and BLESTO scouting services, which combined represent twenty-six NFL teams, are joined by members of various NFL player personnel departments to form the committee. The participating NFL executives can rotate on a yearly basis, and remain anonymous. ALL eligible players are reviewed and voted on by the committee members. Each athlete receiving the necessary number of votes, by position, is then extended an invitation. While it is not a perfect science, the goal of the committee is to invite every player that will be drafted in the ensuing NFL Draft.
  12. I'm proud of you Keith, you finally figured it out.

  21. My pick is Meager, with Tune #2. He was something special in the all-star game and he only had a week to learn the spread offense. I think Todd Dodge makes all 4 QB's better and it will be a battle thorugh spring training. Vizza's experience in the spread will benifit him, but I think the maturity and experience of Meager makes him the choice. But my opinion means nothing, as do all of yours. The only opinion that matters is the GREAT "TODGE"
  22. I couldn't find Elley Font, So I did TODD DODGE manually.
