Anybody notice that on its roster Midland had only two players taller than 6-7. It seems as if these guys are just a bunch of athletes, who can score, play defense and rebound. Sound-like a team that made it's first tournament appearance in 19 years? I say get this guy and invite some of these other kids to walk-on, if they don't get 'ships elsewhere.

Woodinville's 64-0 Victory
GreenBat replied to GreenBat's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
A few years ago, I covered a HS baseball game, Rockwall vs. Wilmer-Hutchins, that could have ended like this. Rockwall scored 16 runs in the first inning and WH went down in order on 3 strikeouts against Rockwall's freshman pitcher. Rockwall scored 9 runs in the next inning and WH went down on 3 Strikeouts. Rockwall's coach had already emptied his bench, but he told the players to swing at every pitch and when they hit it, run until they either scored or were tagged out. He told the freshman pitcher to groove fast balls down the center of the plate. Rockwall scored 6, 8 and 3 runs and won 42-1. In the fifth inning the leadoff batter for WH hit a legit homerun over the right field fence. The Rockwall pithcer ended up with 15 strikeouts in a five inning game. I interviewed the WH kid who hit the homer and he was like. "We finally got a bead on the guy. It was a fastball right down the center of the plate, like he was begging for me to hit it." Little did he know, he was! -

Under Armour And Cat Osterman Visit Lovelace Stadium
GreenBat posted a topic in Mean Green Athletics
Under Armour And Cat Osterman Visit Lovelace Stadium DENTON (3/28/07) - Lovelace Stadium has only been open a couple months, but it is already receiving national exposure. On Wednesday, three-time national player of the year Cat Osterman was at the North Texas softball stadium shooting a commercial for Under Armour. Rip Lambert and his company, Producers Video Corporation, selected the University of North Texas and Lovelace Stadium for the site of a new Under Armour commercial featuring a top female athlete. “We looked at a lot of softball fields in the Dallas area for this commercial,” said Lambert, who directed the production. “This field stood out for me and our marketing people. It’s a top-notch facility. The field is pristine and had a real Texas feeling to it. The place is suited for the spot we are doing.” The North Texas softball complex was transformed for the day into a television shoot filled with trucks and camera equipment. Under Armour signs were placed on the field fence and across the scoreboard. A banner proclaiming Under Armour’s slogan, “Protect This House,” was stretched across the bottom of the scoreboard. Under Armour is the originator of performance apparel, gear engineered to keep athletes cool, dry and light throughout the course of a game, practice or workout. Osterman, the former University of Texas standout softball pitcher and Olympic gold medalist, is one of UA’s featured athletes. UA has been involved with team sports and is now focusing on top female athletes, said Lambert. “Cat portrays the UA female athlete model. She is a real competitor.” Decked out in complete Under Armour attire starting with the sunglasses and down to the softball cleats, Osterman was filmed doing what she has done best on the softball field: pitching. While a camera crew rolled around the pitching circle, the 6-3 former Longhorn threw across to an empty batter’s box. And repeated the action many times. “It’s exciting,” said Osterman about the shoot. “This is my first commercial. It’s great that Under Armour is helping put softball on the map.” Osterman was making her first appearance at Lovelace Stadium. She recalled that the North Texas softball team always came to Austin to face the Longhorns. “It’s a nice field,” said Osterman about Lovelace Stadium. “It gives a nice professional touch to what we are doing.” Osterman has received almost all the awards a student-athlete can receive in college. In 2006, she completed her senior season at the University of Texas leading the Longhorns to the NCAA World Series for the second consecutive year. She was also named to All-Women's College World Series team and was the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, becoming the only three-time winner. Right now, she is training with the national team, preparing for the start of the professional softball league and getting ready to graduate from Texas in May. In the commercial, Osterman is all by herself pitching. The premise is that she is working out on her own after practice, after everyone else has gone home. Lambert and his crew will use the entire day on Wednesday to film the 30-second commercial. There will also be a 15-second spot and a web version. The commerical will air during the softball College World Series. The director intended to shoot a lot of different angles over the course of the day. They will shoot high-speed in order to slow down the action. “Our goal is to make a mini-movie with this rather then a commercial,” said Lambert. “Every nuance will be made to engage the viewer.” -

Twisters Open Camp with New Defensive Coordinator 03/13/2007 3:39 PM 03/13/2007 3:39 PM - (North Little Rock, AR) – The Arkansas Twisters have announced that former NFL Pro Bowl player J. T. Smith will be the new defensive coordinator for the upcoming season. Smith was the head coach at San Angelo of the Intense Football League where he coached new Twisters players Davon Vinson and Barrett Dallmeyer. Dallmeyer was the league’s defensive lineman of the year last season. The former NFL standout played 13 seasons as a kick returner and receiver for Washington, Kansas City, and the St. Louis/Phoenix franchise. His best season as a receiver came during the ’86 and ’87 seasons when he logged back to back 1000 yards receiving seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals. The former North Texas standout first worked with Twisters Head Coach John Gregory when they worked with the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League back in the mid-90’s. Smith coached under former Twisters defensive coordinator Art Haege while at Iowa. “I’ve been associated with Art (Haege) and John (Gregory) for a long time,” says Smith. Smith takes over the defensive coordinator position after former coach Haege suffered an aneurysm and passed away. Arena football has stayed in the family for Smith, as his son Torrey Prather played with the Twisters and is currently in camp with Laredo of the af2. The Twisters start spring camp today with player physicals and issuing of equipment. Actual practice starts on Saturday, March 10th with two-a-days at Pulaski Academy High School thru Monday. The team will move into Alltel Arena for practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. A complete schedule for two-a-days is listed below along with time and location for media day. Arkansas kicks off the 2007 season on the road at South Georgia on March 31st. http://www.arkansastwisters.com/news/twist...?article_id=378

State Of The Nation: Basketball In Texas
GreenBat replied to Objective Aggie's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Jerry Stone went on to coach at UTA, a failed bit. He then went to some NAIA school in Oklahoma, before he resurfaced at Rockwall High School for a few years. Made the regional finals two years at Rockwall. Got to know him when he was at Rockwall. He was a great coach. Reminded me of Bobby Knight, but not as big of an Ass. -
Who is going to name their next child Dodge or Green? Couple name sons for team, new head coach

Collegiate Skins For Your Ipod.....
GreenBat replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
We need Smitty or Austin Talon's talents now. I'd love an NT skin for my laptop. -
I've had Florida all season long. They've got the best coach (Donovan) and the best chemistry.
-
The problem is both will cost more thna NT can afford.
