  1. Since this post is directed at my question about the Mustain thread I will respond. A. Awesome, that should bring us at least $250,000 and I'm guessing if it falls throught GOE will make up the difference. B. I missed this announcement. Again I'm depending GOE deeep pockets to make it come true. C. Again, this is great. And will mean millions to the athletic department. But if it is not true, I'm depending on our No.1 fan GOE to make good on the cash that this would have generated. D. Nice to see that a possible future president believes in North Texas athletics, but I'm wondering how GOE believes posting ridiculous things that take away from a REAL fans passion about North Texas athletics.
  2. And Mustain wanting to transfer to U$C is relevant to North Texas football how? If he was transfering to a conference rival then I can see how North Texas fans could be interested.
  3. I like both No. 5's over the 4's. Houston (5) over Utah (4) isn't really an upset because they've got a better record. Chicago (5) over Miami (4) will be a battle, but I think the Baby Bulls are better than the Heat.
  4. Harker Heights' high jumper Jamison signs with North Texas Posted on: Wednesday, April 18, 2007 By Matthew Girard Killeen Daily Herald Harker Heights standout Jermaine Jamison is taking his high-flying act north – the University of North Texas to be exact. Jamison, a senior high jumper for the Knights track team and the 2007 District 13-5A high-jump champion, signed his national letter of intent last week and said North Texas was the right place for him. "I had a couple of options, but I thought North Texas was the perfect fit for me because of the environment and because they have a very good business program," Jamison said. Although Jamison had football scholarship offers from Texas-El Paso, Mary Hardin-Baylor and New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M., he said we wanted to continue to high jump at the next level. "I'm excited," Jamison said about jumping for the Mean Green. "My coach left me last year and my coach this year has been doing her best coaching me, but at the collegiate level the coaches are spic and span with everything they do. They make sure that you are on the right diet and doing the right weight training." Despite turning down the football offers, Jamison said he will walk-on to the North Texas Football team, but his main focus will be the high jump. "I expect to be able to become one of the premier jumpers coming into my freshman year," he said. "I want to try and beat out the jumpers that are already there and make a name for myself." Before heading off to Denton in the fall, Jamison will try and advance to the state track meet for the third consecutive year at the Class 5A Region II track meet next week in Waco. "It all comes down to this part of the season," Jamison said. "You either do it or you don't. You have to get over that certain height or you go home. My goal is get over that height and go to state." Contact Matthew Girard at mgirard@kdhnews.com or (254) 501-7569
  5. Already posted sorry. The game is going to be live on the internet. Is it going to be free or just for MeanGreenSports.com premium members.
  6. Is this the school that got into a brawl with Florida International? If so what happened to the discipline after that incident!!!!!!!!
  7. Has anyone heard how many of the rcruits we signed will be there. I'm hope Padron & Russo will come. But I'd like to see the local kids at the Spring Game.
  8. The blame for this tragedy is soley on this POS crazy man, who had no concience. I'm just thankful that this POS was a coward and killed himself rather than be caught alive and survived off the taxpayers for decades.
  9. And someone said NT would have no chance at Arrow if we replaced JJ. He loved A&M CC and wouldn't think of leaving. Guess they were wrong. USA is going to be really tough with him at the helm.
  10. Cooley what do you know about these 3 players? Are they D1 players and does NT have a chance at any of them? Leonard Donnell 6-5 Dallas Lincoln Murray Shaw 6-4 DeSoto Kevin King 6-5 Schertz Clemens
  11. Sounds like Dodge is going to use a scoring system like OU used in its televised Spring game on Easter weekend. I hope the offense wins handily.
  12. I like the latest Jamrio Cover the best.
  13. From the story He won't be on scholarship, but I agree it probably won't help game planning against the Todge offense.
  14. Order a case over the internet. A case of shaving cream should last you at least two years.
  15. That's what I'm worried Rick V is going to say because the fan base is too worried about an F'n video game.
  16. Wariner's team wins relay, 200 has to wait Olympic champion doesn't risk it with cool conditions at UNT 11:40 PM CDT on Saturday, April 14, 2007 By C. ANTHONY MOSSER / Special Contributor to The Dallas Morning News DENTON – Cold and windy conditions kept Olympian Jeremy Wariner from competing in the 200 meters at Saturday's North Texas Classic, but Wariner did anchor the Waco All-Stars to a win in the 4x400-meter relay. Wariner, the 2004 Olympic champion in the 400 meters who attended Arlington Lamar and Baylor, ran a 45.79 for his anchor leg of the 4x400. It was good enough to run down Baylor's Kevin Mutai in the final 150 meters and win the event for the Waco All-Stars in 3:13.28. The Waco All-Stars were comprised of Wariner, 2005 NCAA outdoor 400-meter champion Darold Williamson, Jamacian Olympian Sanjay Ayre and Joe Shelton. Baylor finished second in 3:13.60. "I had hoped to run in the 200 but with the weather and the wind I didn't want to chance it," Wariner said. "We were just out there having fun. Baylor is probably the top college team in the 4x400 so running against them helped us and it helps them." The lead oscillated between the teams through the first three legs of the relay. Baylor's Mutai had about an 8-meter lead at the final exchange. Wariner quickly cut that in half but didn't overtake Mutai until the final stretch. "I always run my relay leg the same," Wariner said. "I always kick it in at the final 150 meters." The teams could meet again Saturday when Baylor hosts the Michael Johnson Invitational. Wariner is planning his season debut in the 400 meters at that race. "I'd like to go under 44 [seconds]," Wariner said. "I did last year to open up the season." Baylor track coach Clyde Hart, who continues to train Wariner, was pleased with Wariner's performance Saturday and thinks next week's 4x400 relay should be even better. "Jeremy need a good race and he got it," Hart said. From DRC Despite unseasonable weather, North Texas garnered another pair of regional qualifiers for the 2007 outdoor season at the Boathouse Sports North Texas Classic on Saturday at Fouts Field. Senior high jumper Mark Lee used the third of his jumps at the regional qualifying mark of 2.1 meters to clear the bar and punch his ticket to the regional meet. Lee is the fourth UNT qualifier for the regional meet along with Heath Smith, Heather Wood, and the women’s 4x400 relay team, and will now have the remainder of the season to improve upon his mark in preparation for regionals. Sophomore Brandi Stanfield also qualified in her first attempt of the outdoor season at the triple jump. She managed to drop in three jumps that were not only long enough, but also under the wind validations, topping out with a leap of 12.59 meters in her fifth try. The regional-qualifying mark stands at 12.32 meters with less than 4 meters-per-second. However, Stanfield encountered a stroke of bad luck, as well. She surged off the board for a long jump of 6.28 meters, good enough to take first in the event and 0.28 meters past the regional qualifying mark; however, a wind reading of 4.4 deemed the mark invalid and forces Stanfield to wait another week to qualify. She also had another qualifying mark deemed invalid due to wind, and a mark that would have been good enough by wind factors but came up only 0.01 meters shy of qualifications. The Mean Green also claimed a number of gold medals on the day including another in the women’s high jump. Ryan Hill cleared 1.65 meters with ease to take first, while Brooke Hewitt came in fourth with a leap of 1.60. Heather Wood and Alana Tyler also took a pair of firsts in the women’s throwing events. Wood, the reigning Sun Belt Conference shot put champion, checked in with a throw of 14.26 meters for first after passing the regional-qualifying mark two weeks ago in Arlington. Tyler also inched closer to the mark, taking the hammer throw title with a throw of 51.31 meters, shattering the old school record of 47.77 meters. On top of that, Tyler took a second gold medal in the discus with a toss of 40.21 meters. Senior Josh Rogers took first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:54.30. Christal Brewster finished fourth in the pole vault, but tied the school record by clearing 3.35 meters. The evening finished off with a pair of Olympic gold medalists making appearances. Jeremy Wariner, a former Baylor All-American and dual-gold medalist in the 2004 Olym-pics, anchored the Waco All-Stars team. His former teammate at Baylor, and the anchor for the 2004 Olympic 4x400 relay team, Darold Williamson, ran the initial leg for the squad; however, it was Wariner that overcame an 8-meter deficit on the last leg to overtake a stingy Baylor group for first place in a time of 3:13.28. The Mean Green track team will be back in action on April 21, traveling to Fort Worth for the TCU Invitational. 2007 NT Classic results
  17. No, that's why the statement Oral commitments are nonbinding appears in every story on recruiting before a recruit actually signs. A school can offer and a recruit can commit, but it means nothing if the school doesn't send the paperwork (i.e. the debacle in football with the kid from Abilene Cooper). A kid can tell a reporter that he has committed to a certain school, but might not have an offer. Normally you won't see anything unless an offer has been made, but a kid might want to go somewhere so bad that he gives an Oral commitment to the school, but hasn't received an offer yet. G.J. Vilarino is apparently a great prospect and doesn't want to go through the recruiting process anymore. Either that or BCG and Kentucky are sending envelopes with cash to McKinney for the next two years. (The last sentence is a joke)
  18. That's our crack media relations department for you.
  19. Has BCG even offered him? You can commit to anyone, but that means nothing if the do't offer. There was a kid at Arlington St. Alban's who committed to NT, but he wasn't offered. He didn't walk on so his commitment meant nothing.
  20. Huge for his age Amobi Okoye is getting his ass chewed. The Louisville Cardinals are fresh off their first loss of the 2006 season, and Bobby Petrino thinks his players have loafed through this long, brutal workout. He also thinks it's Okoye's responsibility to fix it. Staring into the 19-year-old's maple eyes, he yells, "You're not doing your damn job!" Okoye gets an earful about being too timid and too relaxed and not getting in the grills of his teammates like a damn captain should. Minutes later, Okoye calls a meeting. But when he starts to scream at his almost 60 'mates -- nearly all of them older than he is -- Okoye does something he's never done before. He stutters.
  21. At least the booze told you it was a hit.
  22. This Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway, Stone Cold Steve Austin, whose real name is Steve Williams, is scheduled to serve as Grand Marshal of the Samsung 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race. Williams played linebacker at North Texas under Corky Nelson, I believe. Speaking of Steve Williams, AKA STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN, WWE have released a plaque for his film "The Condemned”. The plaque also features two bullet casings shot by The former NT FB player when he filmed the movie. "The Condemned” will be released nationally in the United States on April 27th.
