  2. SMU is the only one. The savings on the uniforms would not come close to covering the travel cost or the cost of funding a women's sport to make sure NT stayed in compliance with Title IX.
  3. By GREG BEACHAM, AP Sports Writer Reggie Theus' mercurial rise through the coaching ranks has propelled him all the way back to the Sacramento Kings. The Kings reached an agreement in principle Tuesday with Theus to become their new coach, ending a meandering two-month search for Eric Musselman's replacement. Kings spokesman Troy Hanson said the club plans to introduce Theus, the New Mexico State coach and a former Kings player who twice led the team in scoring, at a news conference Wednesday. more
  4. I second this. Greenminer, the only reason you care because of where you live. The Miners are the only game in town.

  7. New 2A power in making: Mesquite Sunnyvale by Dave McNabb Tue, Jun 19, 2007, 09:31 AM The fallout from May's election _ at least in North Texas sports terms _ is the creation of a potential Class 2A athletic power capable of having the same kind of success Celina enjoys. Mesquite Sunnyvale High School was approved and is hiring coaches. Mike Krone is athletic director and football coach while Tim Arden has been named baseball coach. Krone has been running a spread offense at the Sunnyvale Middle School and will have a ninth grade team in '07, a junior varsity in '08 and a varsity for the '09 season. Sunnyvale, whose athletes have gone to high school and North Mesquite and Poteet in the MISD, will petition the UIL to be included for the next realignment beginning in '08. Arden, a former assistant under Tommy Sigler at North Mesquite, has been head coach at Krum the last three years. Former Mesquite Poteet coach Ted Nowell was the leading candidate to coach Sunnyvale but wasn't tabbed as the new coach. Nowell lives in Sunnyvale and his oldest son Teddy Nowell led Poteet to the Class 4A state final. Nowell also has a younger son, Beau, who is a right-handed pitcher and standout quarterback. Sunnyvale projects its enrollment to stay in Class 2A for several years and it will have the same athletic and academic demographics that has helped Celina dominate in 2A and then reach the 3A state football final last year. Sunnyvale athletes, like Celina's, grow up competing against the highest level of Class 5A and 4A athletes around North Texas youth sports and that makes for a great transition when competing with lower UIL classifications.

    Numbers

Only two schools on NT's 2007 schedule do not have duplicate numbers on there roster. Arkansas State and Florida International do not have duplicate numbers. FIU's roster was from 2006. Every other team on the schedule has at least one duplicate number: Oklahoma SMU FAU Arkansas UL at Layfette UL at Monroe Troy MUTS Navy WKU
  9. I hope we can talk about the Mens & Womens basketball teams getting ready for the NCAA tournament. At least the mens team.
  10. The second song is pretty cool. NT is a music school and needs to have music student write and record an original song that the athletic department can use like this or to play at the games to get fans fired up.
  11. Coach, I hope you like those five trophys, because the SPURS will win at least 3 more before the Cowboys win another NFL ttle.
  12. Thought you Mavs fans might want to see what the NBA trophy looks like and a look at the Finals MVP.
  13. I listen to The Ticket for entertainment, with some sports thrown in.
  14. ESPN and Bowl officials announced today that the 2007 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl is officially set to be played on Friday, Dec. 21, at 7:00pm in the Louisiana Superdome. Here is the link to the official New Orleans Bowl website.
  15. Darrell was not a bad recruiter. He was a good evaluator of talent, and he made recruits feel wanted. The major problem was the turnover in coaches. Some of them were not good recruiters and did not recruit their assigned areas worth a hoot. I don't know any inside info on this subject, this is what I believe from what I've been told.
  16. Magic camp: Dodge packs 'em in at UNT by Dave McNabb Thu, Jun 14, 2007, 02:46 PM Todd Dodge's 16th annual QB/WR camp remains one of the Southwest USA's top draws for young talent. Dodge started the camp as a North Texas assistant and after leading Southlake Carroll to four state titles in the last five years, Dodge and his camp moved back to the University of North Texas. Dodge was named North Texas coach last December. The camp drew 600 players this week from as far away as North Carolina, Mississippi, every Texas border state and hundreds from around the state including San Antonio, Smithson Valley, Katy, Austin Westlake and Allen.
  17. YOU are correct RV does not like it when he's challenged by people who accuse him of not doing his job (I was one of the main culprits), but once information was disclosed, I backed off my stance. He appreciates this board and what its members do for the program. Does he do everything that this board reccomends? NO, but he shouldn't. This is a FAN message board, and if you remember FAN is short for FANATIC. Would you want the CEO of a company you owned stock in or were employed by thaking direction from a bunch of uninformed FANATICS. I think not. So people don't accuse me of hiding behind a screen name, Brett Tulloss
  18. Only reason I ask is because the kids from Port Arthur. Think Dodge could help this young man get his life turned around? That and we need DB's!!
  19. Suspended UT football player to transfer 06:12 PM CDT on Monday, June 11, 2007 By CHIP BROWN / The Dallas Morning News chipbrown@dallasnews.com AUSTIN – Texas sophomore safety Robert Joseph said he will transfer to another school two days after being suspended indefinitely by coach Mack Brown. Joseph's suspension came after he was booked into the Travis County Jail early Saturday morning on two misdemeanor charges of burglary of a vehicle. "I've really enjoyed my time at Texas, but I think it's in the best interest now to transfer and get a fresh start," Joseph said Monday in a statement released by Texas. "I don't know where I'm going to go yet, but I hope to continue working towards my dream of playing in the NFL." Joseph, 19, a product of Port Arthur Memorial, was considered a rising star before his arrest. He appeared in seven games last season, recording 14 tackles and a pass breakup before an injured shoulder sidelined him the final six games. Joseph is the second Texas football player to be arrested in the last two weeks. On June 1, junior defensive end Henry Melton of Grapevine was charged with driving while intoxicated.
  20. Now that's impressive!!!! Especially for a 16-year-old girl.
  21. 22. If you want Abner Haynes in the Hall of Fame become a voting member. I am going to join at the $25 level and if more people like me join and nominate Abner, then the nomination committee will see how much support he has and he might make the list. Here is a link on Membership.
  23. This is simple. The SBC champion goes to the New Orleans Bowl. How many New Orleans Bowls has Middle Tennessee State been in?
