  1. Dickey wasn't horrible, I believe he never really wanted to be at North Texas. He came off as someone who could not be bothered with the little NT fans. It appeared he thought he was better than the job. I might be wrong, but that is how he came off to me and many other alum. I was one of the few DD supporters on the board for the past three years. The biggest problem I had with him was his bunker down mentality that came across to me as "IT'S DARRELL DICKEY AGAINST THE WORLD." It seemed he passed the same mentality to the players. I liked Coach Dickey when I dealt with him, but I never thought he believed he could turn NT into a dominate team. Even though I have had no personal dealings with Coach Dodge, since his days under Dennis Parker, I beleive he presents a confidence that many of our alumni need to support the University. Am I glad that Todd Dodge is at NT? Yes. Was I sorry to see DD go? No. I respect Dickey as a coach and a man, but I am not sorry he is at Utah State. I feel bad for you Coach Archie, because I think you are an upcoming coach, who is still loved by the MEAN GREEN family and fans. I just hope that your short stint with Coach Dickey did not derail your path to coaching greatness, which I saw in you when you were a player at North Texas. Brett Tulloss
  2. Because his dad is a employee, Riley gets a free tuition, if he can get enough academic scholarship money to cover books and room and board then NT won't have to give him a scholarship. That means would mean North Texas can still sign 25 players to letters on intent and still have Riley come to school here. I'm sure Coach Todge has already figured this out and he is licking his chops at having one more ship available.
  3. AWESOME OBSERVATION, it is now in my signature with credit given of course.
  4. David Mcnabb, the dean of DFW HS sports writers, will be in College Station at the 7 on 7 State Tournament starting Friday morning. He'll have updates on the Big School program. Just check http://TexasPrepXtra.rivals.com for a report on both Friday and Saturday night. He will also post the local highlights on DallasBlog.com. TexasPrepXtra has a 7 on 7 State Tournament preview up right now. It mentions Riley and Tomlin and their North Texas commitments.
  5. Just found this website. Has some cool stuff. Shirts & Stuff
  6. Come on, in unison now GREEN GRENADE GREEN GRENADE GREEN GRENADE
  7. It's an in state game and a big rivalry for them, back to their 1-AA days.
  8. Charlie Brown - 6'4, 239 - Soph.--Too good of hands not to see some playing tme. Ryan Davenport - 6'2, 228 - Jr. --Probably switch to LB or RB Brandon Dixon - 6'1, 195 - Sr. -- Won't see the field on game day unless there are a lot of injuries Evan Fentriss - 6'1, 195 - So. ( x-fer not eligible 'til -08) Casey Fitzgerald - 5-11, 186 - Jr. -- Can you say STAR. Will equal or surpass his career catches in the SMU game. Victor Gill - 6'5, 235 - So. -- Good hands, but not fast enough for this offense. Probably be used in goal line situations Jonathan Ieans - 6'5, 230 - Sr. -- Unless he's gotten about 3,000 times better, he won't play at all on offense, maybe a kick or punt blocker Brandon Jackson - 6'1, 208 - Sr. -- BJax is set for a good season. Isiah Smith - 5'8, 170 - Jr. -- Good kid, had worker, but no chance at being a contributor. Brock Stickler 6'3, 219 - Jr. -- Fans have been waiting for Stickler to shine. He'll get the opportunity this season. Arthur Stubblefield - 5'10, 180 - Soph. -- Will get a chance at slot receiver, but will continue to be a special teams stud. Kory Washington - 5'10, 186 - Soph. -- Time to see what real speed can do, if he can catch, watch out. Sam Dibrell - 6'2, 205 - Fr. -- Will play both slot and on the outside. Could shatter Johnny Quinn's records by the time he's a junior. Breece Johnson - 6'1, 175 - Fr. -- Second leading receiver in the Metroplex. Should help on the outside. Roderick Johnson - 6'1,190 - Fr. -- Graduated in 2004. Had pedestrian numbers at Garland Naaman Forest, will have to work to make travel squad. Marcus King - 6'3, 200 - Fr. -- Had more than 500 yards in a run-based offense. Think Marcus Camper, only taller B.J. Lewis - 6'1, 190 - Fr. -- Another slot man that will be a threat. Eric Lichty - 6'1, 175 - Fr. -- Was a decent HS receiver. Made the team as a walk-on, will be lucky to make the travel squad. Sam Roberson - 6'4, 210 - Fr. -- Big and fast. Will help spread the field. Evan Walker - 5'11, 185 - Fr. -- Led Metroplex in receiving as a senior, has the talent to break the freshman receiving record. Please take these comments for what they are worth, which is not much. But I have seen a lot of football in my job as a sports writer.
  9. Glad to see the town where the university is located is selling NT stuff. This is all they have online. Mean Green Tote
  10. Here is a card I made last year, the only thing it doesn't have is Patrick's autograph.
  11. He takes the NBA money and has a two year NBA coaching career befor he's canned. He ends up coaching at some back-water JUCO and is never heard from again. I'm sorry, but I don't believe in happy Hollywood endings.
  12. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good joke.
  13. DD are you a member of the WINGS? That would explain alot. They swing their towels all the tie including KO's and they try and get the crowd to cheer when the offense needs to hear the signals.
  14. I believe he meant 37. 0, 00, 1-5, 10-15, 20-25, 30-35, 40-45, 50-55. There are also 100 in football. Don't forget about 00. Maybe 101, but I've never seen 0.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if UNO gets investigated by the NCAA within the next year. Something does not smell right here.
  16. Governor gets hoax arrest warning Police say Perry, others received fake notices 07:40 AM CDT on Saturday, July 7, 2007 By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer Gov. Rick Perry isn’t a Denton citation scofflaw, but he recently received a notice purportedly from the police that a warrant has been issued for his arrest. So did the Carrollton city manager, a Lewisville city official, a Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce member, and no one knows how many others. Someone replicated a postcard the city sends to people who have outstanding warrants through city court, put it into a letter format and placed an unknown number of them in the mail. City officials are not amused at the hoax. for more click on headline
  17. Corbin Montgomery (Epps), aka Umar Muhammad played on the defensive line at NT, end I believe. He played in 1997 and 1998. He was built like a fireplug. Short but strong and impossible to move. Benny Cherry played safety in 1993 then Linebacker in 1994, redshirted in 1995, played linebacker in 1996 and 1997.
  18. In 1997 he was Corbin Epps. In 1998 he was Corbin Montgomery. He converted to Islam after he left NT and became Umar Muhammad.
  19. Link to NT Daily stories on Troy
  20. Get ready to bow down and pray & maybe even have your dirty bits go wild!
  21. Byron Gross, Hell they named the outstanding linebacker award after him.
  22. In what sport? Talking smack and not backing it up!!
