  1. As you say “those in the know” think that Woody needs to be moved to another position. Woody is a spectacular talent that needs to be on the field as much as possible. He is a playmaker, is it at QB, I don’t know, but NT needs his ability on the field as much as possible. Is that at QB, RB, WR or DB? That is for Todd Dodge and his staff to decide. I hope this issue will, die a peaceful death once a decision is made on the starting QB, be it Woody, Phillips, Tune, Meager or Vizza. Heck, I’m for moving anybody and everybody to another position, if it will help the MEAN GREEN win. And from knowing you, I hope that is your opinion as well. So I'm not accused of hiding behind an internet board name Brett Tulloss

  3. California bound: Georgetown, Houston Stratford David McNabb TexasPrepXtra.com Staff Georgetown defeated Houston Stratford, 41-24, Saturday afternoon at Texas A&M for the FSN Southwest 7-on-7 State Championship. But both claimed berths for the first annual adidas National Championship in Los Angeles. Georgetown and Stratford leave Tuesday for a Wednesday-Thursday tournament at the renowned Home Depot Center that will include four teams from Florida and two each from similar Texas-style tournaments at UCLA, Notre Dame and Tennessee. Georgetown got a near-flawless performance from senior quarterback Morgan Mickan, who didn't throw an interception in the all-passing competition. Micken, a speedy 6-1 outfielder who signed to play baseball at Texas on Thursday, used a bevy of receivers to win its first summer title. Georgetown, though, defeated Stratford in the first round of last year's tournament before losing. Georgetown receiver Ben Youngblood caught a last-second touchdown pass to edge Arlington Bowie, 32-31, in a semifinal. Georgetown was led by Michael Rocha and Rees Crosby on defense. Crosby is the younger brother of former Colorado All-American kicker Mason Crosby. Stratford was led by senior quarterback Andrew Luck, a recent Stanford commitment. Stratford held off a late Arlington Lamar rally to win, 35-34, in a pair of nail-biting semifinals. In a talent-filling quarterfinal game, Stratford linebacker Charlie Jackson broke open a close game with Hebron by returning an interception for a touchdown on the first play of the second half. 5. Does anyone know how many invited walk on freshman are coming? Does anybody know who is coming? Is Blake Tomin a preferred walk on? I hope so, this kid can play. He's just a little undersized (6-1, 170), That was about the size of Johnny Quinn as a freshman, when he left he was 6-0, 202.

  8. Todd Dodge sighting at 7-on-7 He wasn't wearing University of North Texas gear, or even any of his old Southlake Carroll green, but that was former Carroll coach/new UNT coach Todd Dodge sitting in a folding chair in the end zone during one of his son Riley's games Friday. Per NCAA rules, colleges coaches can't scout the 7-on-7 state tournament. I'm told even the Texas A&M coaches have to stay away from the intramural fields where the games are played. Dodge gets a pass because his son is the Carroll quarterback. During one game, Dodge spent much of his time conversing with his replacement at Carroll, Hal Wasson. I asked Wasson if he was giving Dodge lots of good advice. He laughed and said, "No, but I'm a very good listener."
  9. That's not surprising, since NT is an Under Armour school. How much? Green or White? Can anybody take a picture of them and post it?

  17. I heard rumblings of the PAC 10 going to the PAC 12, adding Colorado and Colorado State, a few years back, but I haven't heard anything in the last couple of years.
  18. This story is from the 1997 Sports Illustrated football preview. It is on Koy and Ty Detmer, son of Sonny Detmer, who just took the job at Class 3A Somerset. They are both six-foot or smaller. Ty Detmer spent the 2004 and 2005 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Up until Koy Detmer's release in August 2006, he had played his entire career in Philadelphia. Neither are on an NFL roster at this time, but neither have retired. Take the name Todd Dodge and put it in the place of Sonny Detmer and replace Koy and Ty's names with Riley's and you can see what NT has in store. Story
