Thanks for the suggestion. -noted. While I think I said you smiled, and I truly believe you did... You seemed pretty satisfied after posting this:

And let this board be overrun with classless fans taking satisfaction in a student-athletes injuries? Thanks, but I think not. I'd have to stop being a fan of UNT by your estimation too. Something I am not even near ready to do. I like being a sane fan of this school and poster on this board. If you think that pointing out to a couple of posters how incredibly unsportsmanlike it is to constantly diminish another schools accomplishments that we (UNT) would be more than happy to have is ban-able offense you can read the Forum Rules again. They're at the top of the page.
-
It's a mystery. How does that happen?
-
FAIL. Every school has these fans. I want UNT to have more of them. We have a kind just as bad, if not worse. We have the kind that actually did go to UNT to get educated, that go the opposite direction of the above and go out of their way to hate UT and, in Emmitt's case, smile at the result of a student athlete getting knocked out of a game that we (Mean Green) weren't even playing in. And we want to talk about class and lives being pathetic? But at least we can hide under the pretense that they kept us out of the SWC, made us lose 10 games this year, and continue to mock and hold UNT back in a year we didn't even play them... which justifies our fans acting like idiots. Sometimes I'm ashamed to have the stereotype of "UNT fan" and "GMG.COM Poster" assigned to me - and not for anything the team or school has done.

Cycling is the one thing I like about Craig Miller bringing to the Ticket. He had pretty good comments during the Tour de France and pointed me in the direction of some very good stories and media outlets of the tour that I otherwise would not have known about.

You're right, there it is plain as day... I thought it was odd that they only finished with 11 games... Got the info from ESPN on this page... http://espn.go.com/college-football/bowls Which includes all the bowl wins in their final records except for OU... Odd.

here's a link to his blog where he rants about this subject. http://juniormiller1310.blogspot.com/2010/...-fix-bowls.html I want him to be more specific on who doesn't need to be there. I want him to say, "OU does not deserve to be in a bowl game." I want him to prove he can do research and really know what teams he's talking about getting rid of. He says, "No Trash Teams". I want him to specify what "trash teams" those are. He's also looking at a bowl as a reward... It's not really a reward for the teams. It's a reward for the fans to see another out of conference match up that isn't picked by the schools themselves. And an opportunity for ESPN and Bowl destinations to cash in on that. That's the allure of the bowl games. NCAA Fans get to see their teams game out of conference schedules to their advantage, whether it be for money or a win. This usually ends in a horrible match up and terrible game. The conference season brings the Rivalries, but might be boring year after year playing the same teams. The bowl game takes the match-making away from the schools' ADs and coaches and sometimes you get a truly interesting match up between 2 teams that rarely, if ever, played.. Ex: Boise St. vs Oklahoma. Or - Texas vs Ohio St. that just recently met for the first time ever on the football field. I'm for a playoff even though I think a +1 is a much more attainable and realistic goal and would normally serve the purpose adequately - this year included. I don't care if you eliminate another bowl to make that happen.

I will continue to listen to the ticket because it entertains me - but Craig is the one thing that is not like the others on there. Very rarely does he make a good, well thought out sports point.

I heard that rant by Craig Tuesday morning and couldn't believe what I was hearing. It sounded like he was trying to talk trash to the relatively unknown schools who do barely enough and get into a bowl game once in a blue moon and disappear the next year. I wonder if he actually knew what schools he was talking about. I took it to mean he was upset about: A Wyoming team that was 6-6. A Marshall team that was 6-6. I wonder if he actually knew he was talking trash about the following schools: Texas A&M at 6-6. UCLA at 6-6. Minnesota at 6-6. Iowa St at 6-6. Florida St. at 6-6. Michigan St. at 6-6. and his beloved Oklahoma at 6-5. I think what he really means to say is - there are too many bowl games/teams he could care less about because he's a traditional homer and he's never heard of some of these schools because he's a sad excuse for a sports personality. Somehow, I don't think was talking about how he was hanging on every throw of the 6-5 Sooners game at the beautiful Brut Sun Bowl in beautiful El Paso, TX. I'd be willing to bet he didn't have a problem with a Florida St. team that would let it's coach get one last win in Jacksonville before retirement playing in a bowl game they definitely didn't deserve to be in. Probably watched every second of Texas A&M get their ass kicked by Georgia in the destination city of Shreveport, LA in the Advocare V100 Independence Bowl. The only game I could see him legitimately upset about is a Minnesota and Iowa St. matchup - but probably only because they're not from around here and not because it might have actually been the worst match this bowl season. I'd be willing to bet he's ranting against Central Michigan (11-2) and Troy (9-3) and not because of their records, but because they are not perennial powerhouses. Probably was also not too interested in Middle Tennessee. It's not really non-AQ teams with horrible records in bowl games - its the AQ teams, with house-hold names that have the crappiest records and still get in. The Sun Belt, consistently said to be the absolute worst conference in D1A was only able to send 2 teams both 9-3, looking to go 2-0 to end with 10-3 seasons. Unfortunately, it's college football "fans" and "sports personalities" like Craig Miller who prop up the BCS and their auto qualifying teams with their comments. Craig is a great human being. He does a lot of great things with the small amount of fame the ticket has brought him for a lot of charities and good causes. I'm proud that he went to school here, even if he is not. But, very rarely do I consider something Craig says as funny. He tries to be cute with his moronic rants instead of leaving the shtick stuff to Gordon and Jub Jub. Most of his sports opinions sound like a 5 year old kid formed them, which may be indicative of the generic college football fan, but damnit - I guess I have a lot more faith in the intelligence of generic sports fans. This rant by him was one that definitely made him sound like an un-informed, whiny little boy. He's also recycled this bit for at least 3-4 years in a row - as all "sports commentators" do. Surely, he didn't realize he was talking down to a team like Oklahoma...

For everyone interested in hard hitting non nonsensical musings - there is another forum that you can visit on GMG that might be more helpful.

To be quite honest, Rick. I highly doubt our sources of funding for the new stadium will dry up with the departure of Mandy. That said, I wish her well, because she has always been nothing but gracious to me in all my encounters, and she probably has absolutely no idea who I am which tells me she treats everyone with as much respect.

and defensive... We are getting out rebounded again.
-
Odufuwa sure does fill every stat column, doesn't he?

Well, I'd like clarification on the rules too then... If someone calls himself an asshole, then is it okay for everyone else to call them an asshole too without violating a personal attack rule? Does this apply for the entire board, just that thread, when only quoting their post, or is the name asshole in general free game? I think we are taking things too seriously. If all we posted was serious posts, this board would be so boring and resemble the UTA basketball board. The fact is, there isn't much going on right now, and most of the threads that get high jacked deserve to get high jacked in my opinion. Rick - to answer your question, YES. This (high-jacking) does happen on other boards too. I don't know why we care what other schools/boards do, but it does happen. Here's my question: when an underling in any of those same schools leave, does anyone from that school care enough to actually post such a thing on the football section of the board. Mandy may have made some people angry, done good things for the program, may have been underwhelmingly friendly to fans and overwhelmingly friendly with certain coaches, contributed to the football team's demise, built the new stadium with her bare hands etc... but really, she's not a legend around here and certainly doesn't warrant her own thread to discuss what a huge or insignificant loss this really is... and certainly doesn't deserve the attention this thread is giving her. So IMO - high jacks away.

That one game stretch was the worst one game stretch in the history of one game stretches and was bad enough to call for Johnny Jones to be fired on the spot. That said, I hope we hire him back before Tuesday nights game, because we will need a coach, and he'd have experience of getting his previous school to the NCAA tournament, getting fired and then hired again. I think it would be a good character and resume builder.

Oklahoma City or New Orleans would be my pick -
It helped that FAU was able to defeat Warner South....on 12/10.... In 3 OTs
-
Agreed. No one in college football has been more praised and deserving of it than that guy all year.
-
Agreed with everything you said. I really like the potential of Holmen. For those who didn't get to watch this game on FSN, I really enjoyed this presentation.

Would have liked to have seen a better % from the line and definitely from 3 point range. A&M had crazy shooting tonight from FG and FT, and I don't think it was due to a lack of defensive intensity/effort. I'm not ashamed of losing to them like that. Good showing.

75-65 Ags Final line was 12. Those lines makers know what they do.

He has played very well tonight. Finding open men. highlight reel assists and just killed a 3. 73-63 :26 left.

71-60 INT foul? after waiting so late in the shot clock.
