  1. Why? You're maybe the only person that read that post. Everyone else didn't bother reading it because they're tripping over their big strong at the thought of playing THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON!?!? Are you kidding me?!?! Everyone just assumes it's Houston because of a "well placed source" and the title of the damn thread is so declarative. It could not be, and from what I've heard - it isn't. I'm not saying KRAMs sources aren't reliable, but he's the only person I've heard conflicting reports from. Just don't be disappointed if it's not the nationally acclaimed Houston Cougars is all I am saying. I don't even understand why that team would want to play in DFW. They already play at SMU. We can do better.
  2. Ask not, what your AD is doing about the turnout, ask what you are doing about the turnout.
  3. I don't think they were bluffing. But, I do think Texas knows what got them to the position they are in now. Texas couldn't have gotten to the point they are now without A&M and OU. If either of those 2 schools wouldn't follow Texas, I think Texas has reason to reconsider. It doesn't surprise me that the Big XII is trying to hang together now that it seems its core is getting pulled in every direction. The Big XII is going to be unable to cherry pick SEC, PAC 10, and BIG 10 teams, but they could have their pick of the litter on the rest. And it makes absolutely no sense (to me) that the establishment of the Big XII, wither autobid and everything, would be the one to disintegrate before the Big East, MWC, CUSA, WAC, MAC and SBC.
  4. They are working on restricting the type of bat used. This year they got rid of the composites. I think next year it gets even more restrictive.
  5. I see it as a great opportunity for A&M to separate themselves from UT to a recruit who doesn't want to leave the state of Texas. It gives A&M something to market that UT can't. It's possible that they are a contender in the SEC because they are the only school in Texas that can get a player who might leave for an SEC school.
  6. It's damn cool to watch college baseball. This really is amateur sports. More than half these players will probably not even get a shot at the bigs. It would have been cool if we could have fielded a team since CUSA turned us down. I don't care if we even built a facility for them, they could have played somewhere in this great metro. I will buy baseball season tickets if we get a team. I seem to recall a large donor offering to bankroll the baseball expenses, but was turned down until we added a football stadium and another ladies team.
  7. But all dudes LOVE chicks with upgraded facilities.
  8. Damn Emmitt, There is something you and I can agree on. A&M is the one school in this state that doesn't have to suck off the nipple of UT and be better off for it.
  9. Has it ever occurred to you that Waters gets paid to be the commissioner of a conference? That includes trying to make it better, whether fans of a member school (UNT) want to help or not. What's hilarious it the short sightedness of your posts. Part of the problem is idiots talking crap about the conference we are currently in, when we're still a member and have an opportunity to make it better. I could certainly see an issue if we had won 8 straight conference championships, but it's simply not true. We fans have a responsibility to want our school to get into a better conference. But, we also have a responsibility to make the most out of where we are with what we've got, because we're here.
  10. Get real. You, like many other fans of UNT, wouldn't fly anywhere to go see us play any school unless it were a bowl game. If I had gobs of money coming out my ears and could - I'd much rather fly into Miami and drive 1hr max to get to where I need to go.
  11. You and I don't agree on much, but you are dead on in this case.
  12. What has the SBC done to us that makes everyone want out so badly?. Dead last choice is the current WAC if they didn't expand east. Which might happen. CUSA and SBC are so close right now, it won't make a difference. MWC is top preference, but I think Baylor will end up there.
  13. That's speculation. Don't you think it has more to do with being the only D1 program in a 300 mile radius?
  14. If Troy and MTSU were playing each other on TV here, would you still watch Arkansas-LSU?
  15. MWC isn't done expanding. Wouldn't be surprised to see Baylor get an invite. TCU + Baylor delivers TV sets in DFW. Add Kansas and KState and what you have is the second most watched conference in DFW. We really should be talking with Baylor.
  16. Nebraska fans in DFW will have a tough time finding their team on TV.
  17. This means that fans in this part of the country now care about Arizona and Arizona State (to a lesser extent CAL/UCLA/USC/WASH/WASH ST) and will watch any game they play, whether it's against a team they care about or not.
  18. You can't admit that. If we go west, it better be to the MWC. I am hoping we hitch our wagon to Baylor. Our 2 teams could deliver a DFW market to some conference, and you have to admit that's what this is about right now. 3 (adding SMU or TCU) teams would deliver even more. The reason OU, OSU, Texas, and Texas Tech were a package is because of the markets they deliver. DFW is included in that. It wasn't because of politics Tech was included. If you split any one of those teams off by themselves they gradually lose market share, because the fans of the schools could care less about each other. The PAC 10 just became a fact of everyday life in this part of the country, much like the BIG 12 was.
  19. It's like you're in my head. Mark me down as one of the people that doesn't want to join a WAC, much less a Boiseless one. I'd rather be in a conference that shares the same footprint as the SEC. LaTech won't be in the WAC for long. There should be no other person on this board who should be wanting into the WAC.
  20. So true - Baylor was very public about their desires and that forced Colorado to move earlier than everyone else.
  21. Agree with everything you said, except replace Longhorns with Cornhuskers. Edit: or you can blame Notre Dame
  22. The best thing for NT to do right now - is keep our heads down, work, win, buy seasons tickets, have fun and go to the games and cheer for your teams. It really makes no difference what conference we end up in, we still have work to do.
  23. In 1969, the College separated from Baylor University and became an independent institution, which allowed it access to federal research funding. The institution's name changed to Baylor College of Medicine. That same year, the College entered into an agreement with the state legislature to double its class size in order to increase the number of physicians in Texas.
  24. Anyone who doesn't think Baylor is in a better position than us is high. Now, will we change that? Things certainly are getting better around here, but we need to tap the brakes on this thing. We don't have a law school yet, and Baylor has some friends in very high places in this state.
  25. I say SWTXSTU-SM and UTSA needs us a hell of a lot more than anyone thinks. They can go it alone in the WAC if they want, but a move up without North Texas or the other FCS school and I think it may be a disaster. Also, the WAC is more than ready to let La Tech leave to the East. Why would they want to add 1 Texas team at the FCS level? It's going to take a combo of FCS teams or 1 FCS team along with UNT to make that work for the WAC. They'd be taking a huge hit, letting new no-name teams into the league. It seems as if they don't consider themselves no name. No one who's never stepped foot in texas has heard of SWTXSUSM. Adding a plethora of Div1-AA schools just gives Boise more fodder to crash the BCS party year in and year out.
