Did Shorter get hurt, he only played 4 mins and normally gets a LOT more.

We did last year, but this years' team doesn't have what last years' team had.

I think it's obvious that TT's defensive effort was a liability.

now let's hope we can get it to work with all the extra fans trying to watch...

Anyone else see the FREE: in front of the MG Premium live feed?

Hmm, interesting. I get an email almost weekly from them to join the engineering masters program with waivers for GMAT scores. Not really waiving the scores as much as waiving the entire test itself. It's probably because they are struggling to fill classes. Trust me when I say that I didn't have the highest GPA at UNT and I could be a student at SMU tomorrow with all bills paid and not have to take a test, or submit referrals, or letters. They are BEGGING people to join their empty classes.

Played Ball With Tony Mitchell Last Night
MeanMag replied to sparkmank's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Last year, Jan. 30 was the last time we lost before dropping the tourney game to KState. It would be great to see another run like that. FAU is a huge 1 game stretch. Big confidence/momentum builder. -
Played Ball With Tony Mitchell Last Night

I hope that's the case. Don't lump me in with the haters (not many on this board anyway), but he can prove me wrong. The team had an opportunity to finish with a god like record in the conference. I don't know how you can look past that. It's pretty cool to see the bar being raised on almost a weekly basis around here. Expectations are growing as well. The outlook is not bad for the team, but some (myself included) would love to see this team nut up against sun belt competition. National Television is coming and now would be a great time. Thanks for sharing, pretty damn cool. Wish I was still in and around Denton. I remember spending quite a bit a time the the brand new rec center as a student. -
What kind of R-Tards do they produce over there? What's the point in enrolling if in a few months he intends to declare for the draft or go to europe? Man, they're stupid.

To be honest, I thought he was what Vito's post was all about. I really don't understand this news having to be football news to be happy in UNT-Land. I mean, we just got a stadium for the football team, and a DI coach to go with it. Throw basketball a bone when an NBA lottery pick wants to at least attempt to play here. Give a golf clap. Snap your fingers. Have a natty lite. Don't go overboard if you don't want to. But christ, to write a post with doodoo as the words is perplexing.

Tony Mitchell In Process Of Enrolling @North Texas!
MeanMag replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I'm considering giving you a -1 for not having them already. That Ark St. game was as complete a game as I've seen played this season. -
You are acting like there are 2 options, this way or the old way and maybe some other way. There is not. College football has succeeded in spite of the BCS because at the core college football is a great product. The BCS is squandering opportunity, and college football is succeeding anyway. Add 1 game. Just one.

I think you all are focusing too much on one or 2 teams from a conference. To be a better conference, the teams at the bottom have to be better than the teams at the bottom of another too. Every conference has 1 or 2 more teams that push the top 10 every year. Except the Sun Belt and MAC, that is. The difference comes in the other teams. If you guys want to argue about one or 2 of the top teams, they've already answered the questions. TCU was better than the Big 10s best, which is probably also better than the ACCs best as well.

I'll be sick if USU and SJSU get in, but not because that means UNT can't get in. I wasn't crazy about joining the WAC before, and the MWC would basically be the WAC with more of a name. I'll be sick for NMSU, TSU, UTSA, LA Tech and Idaho. They're going to have a tough go of things with that lineup. I really hope they end up somewhere. The worst case scenario would be to not be in a conference.

Less Filling?

OH, I agree that something needs to float JJ's way and I'm sure they will extend or give some kind of compensation (like in the past) to JJ in the off season. RV goes to every game, so I'm positive he know JJ is producing. I haven't seen one detail posted from his current contract. For Now, JJ would probably agree that the focus needs to be on getting the team getting the highest possible SBC seed and making it back to the NCAA. Florida Atlantic is looking good, WKU might be figuring it out, and we have to go through the Pioneers twice still. Let's focus on that and enjoy the ride. I'm sure RV is taking care of that stuff, because that's what he's paid to do.
-
Haven't they redone his contract a couple of times already? Extensions, etc...

I understand those rankings. But, I think the PAC 10 is a little high. Thread

There are 246 teams in FBS and FCS. That means half will be in the FBS. The Auto bid conferences are already in their own league, the Auto Qualifiers League which happens to be a subset of the FBS subdivision. There is no reason to leave the same division as non-AQ teams because there is already a separation. The absolute only way that a team will be able to get noticed going forward and change status is if the fans force it. It takes either tons of fans, or tons of money, and some combination of both. Currently, UNT needs both to change the status.

You will never, ever hear me bad mouth Dickey on this board or in writing. Those teams are the only reason I got interested in sports during my time as a student at UNT. That said, I will never defend his attitude off the football field, but I will defend what he was able to accomplish here on it.

Re-uploaded for your viewing pleasure. A treat for some of our newer, more recent members and a reminder of how good things can be at this school for the rest of us. Jamario Thomas Story

Odufuwa had a terrible night at the line. You can't expect him to hit them all, but half would have been nice. I don't think it's the reason we lost. We had no answer defensively and missed some key possessions jacking up 3s. If we had a better % from 3 it's a different game. It's as simple as that.

Thanks for the correction. Again, no knock on how Troy played. They looked good tonight. Just can't believe that team mailed it in for half the season.
-
Loss to SFA on the road and now Troy. This is a BAAD loss, but not because Troy played badly. It's because of who Troy has chosen to be this year. Troy shot the ball extremely well tonight. They played better than us and deserved to win. What makes me mad is Troy's record. If they can play that well against us and WKU, they shouldn't have just 3 wins. They've been laying on their backs all season taking it from just about everyone they've faced. Utah state beat them by 40+. They've underwhelmed everyone this season, and decide to turn it on for conference. It's teams like them that really make this conference horrible to be in this year. But alas, it's no excuse to lose to them. Now for the constructive criticism for our team: - Too many turnovers - Press came a little late in my opinion, it should have come after their 9 point run to start the 2nd half. - We have to work on the breaking down good zones. A good zone will frustrate the hell out of any good offensive team if they don't figure it out. - I thought we did a good job getting to the line and making our points there.

Our sphere of control as fans can be widened with influence $$ wise. I agree that a better conference is important for growth concerns. But, I believe that building the belt, winning games in all programs, upgrading facilities and adding baseball will make the conference affiliation deal take care of itself. The stadium was a large component. I think the next major component before conference affiliation is our football program winning games. If the conference affiliation thing comes first, it doesn't mean we can lose sight of the next major liability. As a smaller liability, our womens basketball team needs to kick it into gear too.
