  1. It's not proven that if a team goes undefeated in the Sun Belt how high they'd go, largely because it hasn't happened. To be quite honest if there were a 16 or 32 team playoff, if it weren't for an autobid, you'd have a tough time convincing me that a Sun Belt team deserved to be there. We'd have the same problems we do now with the NCAA tourney with Sun Belt teams having to play the top 5% of teams in the playoff system. They'd always be playing the #1 or #2 teams in the nation. Boise and TCU seemed to have success going to a higher bowl, even if they didn't play for the national championship. A +1 would have solved the majority of the 2 undefeated teams at the end of the season.
  2. Basketball has a large enough sample size to do the playoff seeding. I don't know if colleges play enough games against outside competition to accurately seed a playoff system of only 16 teams. We'd have about 50 disappointed "bubble teams". Put me down as a fan of the +1 game. It could mean money and a return to prominence for the cotton bowl and a true national champion.
  3. Veteran play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun, analyst Tim Couch and sideline reporter Kristina Akra will call every SEC game on FSN this season. Article
  4. Although the revenue distribution is reportedly left unchanged — leaving it based on television appearances and weighted toward Texas A&M and the universities of Texas and Oklahoma — the new contract could equate to a major boost in revenue for Tech once the contract takes effect beginning with the 2012 football season. Tech’s president Guy Bailey declined to comment on the financial details, but he sufficed it to say Tech’s piece of the Big 12 contract will be “significantly more” than the $10-12 million the university receives each year under its current contracts. Bailey said the gains, when coupled with fewer schools getting a piece of the pie, within a few years will begin to yield “enormous” dividends for Tech — particularly after the league enters similar contract renewals with ESPN/ABC in 2015-2016. 5. I seem to recall Texas A&M, OU and UT all got the better of the Big XII payouts in the new contract. Those 3 all get a larger, similar payout than the rest.
  6. Missing a vertical scroll bar on the right side with firefox 5.0.1 on mac. Chrome has the scroll bar, but the advert oversteps the lower border. I can send screenshots if you're interested in fixing it.
  7. Rebuilding for UNT will hopefully mean reloading, and ideally, only last 1 year. With the crop of recruits we have coming in, that might very well be the case. I don't believe UTA would have any advantage in the near future on the recruiting or having a better RPI because of those 2 factors you mentioned. UNT has been Top 150 and top 100 RPI consistently over the last few years. UTA is really not that far off from being right there. Now, as far as on the court performance against each other the last few years, there have been some very exciting and fun games to watch. The contests have proven that UTA can compete and beat UNT, but I think that the consistency that UTA lacks is what UNT has. I really don't see that changing anytime soon. Any advantage one team would have over the other would be equalized at tip-off when playing each other as both teams essentially are at home no matter where we play in DFW. I really like the look and layout of the new arena you guys are building, and am really looking forward to watching some contests there. Living a couple miles away in Fort Worth, it's a really easy drive for an away game, so I hope this series can continue. Does the new arena include auxiliary practice courts and basketball offices?
  8. Are you talking about UNT or Winning? Changing a couple letters is not going to raise a profile.
  9. I'm with you.
  10. NTSU doesn't bother me, it tells me those people payed attention to North Texas when we were good. UNT doesn't bother me, it tells me people payed attention to us when we changed our name. I went to North Texas, because it's the University of North Texas, and everything else sounds dumb to me. Putting a "U" on it is understood. Everyone does it.
  11. Ditto. Thanks for bringing up the CBA point too.
  12. Don't most draftees hold out until they are more of a sure thing in the 1st round if they have remaining eligibility? If I remember correctly, there's quite a pay difference from 1st to second round.
  13. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am happy for UTA. They clearly got the better of that deal. Same goes for UTSA and UTSWTSUSM. They all got the better of the WAC. I'm happy that UNT isn't a part of that. I'm happy that our conference shares a footprint with the SEC. In no way is any of this a bad thing for UNT, because for UNT, it's irrelevant.
  14. I don't want to overuse the new logo. At home games it will be visible at the center of the field. That's enough for me for now.
  15. This is why I don't understand why team USA wasn't stacked with guards who could hit a 3 pointer. It seemed this was the M.O. of our team thru out this run.
  16. I could see Mitchell moving around a lot, but I have to agree that he looks efficient at the 4/5. I haven't seen much of Mitchell, but I've seen enough of Holmen to think that last year defensively, he came up short. Holmen could be getting better and bigger this off-season for all we know. And, for all we know Mitchell could be more comfortable at the 3. I have no doubt that Jones will play him where he has the best shot at making the NBA.
  17. I'm okay with that too. I don't know if putting Mitchell at the 3 will keep him off the boards. He seems to have a knack for rebounds.
  18. Well, if I understand the format and Mean Green Matt's posts correctly, Team USA can no longer win Gold. Please correct me if I am wrong. Edit: Or any medal for that matter. Recap
  19. FIBA Stats The difference in this one was all beyond the 3 point line. Not surprising when you look at the exhibition losses to Lithuania. The international game has some sharpshooters. If you aren't prepared to keep pace or at the very least make one, it's an obvious loss. I know there's another game left, but that's a disappointing way to close out the run. On a UNT note, Tony Mitchell will seem to soften the loss of Odufuwa from last season. His rebounding, blocking and defensive intensity appears to be consistent. His Defensive ability is going to be important as this young team puts things together offensively. Hogans + Mitchell clogging the middle... Really, Really looking forward to next year.
  20. I'm with you. Although, I'd like someone more, "in the know" than I to comment on MTSU's class. I'm not convinced that this was that good of a recruiting haul for them. It's good to have them up there. MTSU and every other team in the SBC doesn't exactly scare me. I know we have a young team coming in, and we lost a lot of seniors, but expectations will be almost as high as they were last season with what the other SBC teams have coming in/back.
  21. You have to be a GMG.com P1 to get that line of humor.
  22. I get what you're saying, but Kansas doesn't leave their court hardly ever until January. Certainly not for a mid-major that has been decent. Players love playing big games. It's real tough to schedule these days, I'm sure.
  23. I'm pretty sure Texas knows that we graduated a whole bunch of seniors this past season. I don't know that there will be a 2012 game against Texas.
