Good article. Everyone who's irate about FIU should give it a read.

The last winning season was 8 years ago. That's 8 recruiting classes that have not known winning at North Texas. These 8 years have been, historically, the worst stretch of football teams this school has ever fielded. You already know this, but there is hope. Temper your expectations. It's not more of the same. It's a start. No coach is good enough to go through practice and off-season the only way a National Champion knows how and erase those 8 years in the first game. No coach is going to be able to do it in 2 games.

George has to be in the NT Sports Hall of Fame if he quit broadcasting games tomorrow. It'd be very easy for that guy to be like Craig and distance himself from athletics. I really don't know how he goes and sits through a delay in Florida getting dumped on while lending his voice to the broadcast under a tent in the rain, and then shows up for the morning drive show at his regular job. And, he does it all with no drop off in enthusiasm and talent. It has to eat him up sometimes to watch some of the garbage that happens on the field. It must be pretty special and an added bonus for him and his son that they can make those trips together.

They probably should have been studying their play book more. That would certainly fix everything.

Your answer is: It really isn't bad for Dallas, though no one said it was. But, SMU joining the Big 12 probably wouldn't make much difference for Dallas depending on who leaves or is left in that conference.

This is what I saw. I thought Thompson had better decision making. Osborn could have really made the game even uglier had the 1st string defense been in. I don't think there will be any change in starters anytime soon.

Yep. I thought our game plan should be obvious to everyone going into the game. Get Dunbar going. Everyone on defense was watching the run, and FIU dared our new QB to make throws and he overthrew the entire game. That's a sound defensive game plan against us. Credit FIU. I also thought our play calling adapted well when FIU was able to execute in the 1st Q. Receivers dropped balls, but Chancellor made some great catches and got YAC. We had missed FGs and a questionable TD called out of bounds.

I don't know what game you saw last night. This game might be our lowest point of this year, we started a QB with no experience, a brand new head coach in his first game at NT, and a virtual no-show by several of our starters. Coach Dodge is still gone. We beat WKU last year, a team we regularly beat, even with Dodge. And we beat the MUTs last year. The closest team we have to a rival in this conference. FIU sees us every year, and has beaten us every year with Cristobol. They know how to handle Dunbar for whatever reason. Derek Thompson didn't play in any of those 6 games at the end of last season. Darius Carey is gone for not following rules. Playing a defending conference champion in the 1st game of a new coach and season that has beaten you fairly easily going back to 2007 is a tough way to start the season. TY Hilton was a monster, and their coaches make up ways to get him the ball. I don't think we give them enough credit for having become a team that represents our conference well in bowl games. I'm just as disappointed as anyone else here. We all aren't happy this happened. But, to say that I am surprised just isn't true because I have seen nothing to indicate yet that we should win a game like this. I'll be surprised when we win a game like this. Coach Mac has said it himself, this team still has to learn how to win. I know everyone likes the way we played against K State and we did some good things, but we lost that game too. So please, move on from that one as well.

The last half of the year... Lets see 12 games in a year... divide by 2... that's 6.... last six games of last year... OH! Look! FIU! The first of that half of the season. Compare THAT game. Getting shutout on offense sucks. But, don't make it seem so dramatic. It was a 10 point drop from last year. Would you have been satisfied with 3 or 10 points? You could have been upset with that too. It's allowable. We did lose.

I always expect to be competitive against whoever we play, but quoting point totals to the last 5 games and intentionally leaving off the 6th (FIU) in which we scored 10 points and expecting a huge difference is naive. What's really changed since last year? Almost nothing. We played them in the 1st game this year instead of the 7th, like last year. We even had the same offensive coordinator in that game. How is any of this surprising?

Uhm... Last 5 games huh? That would mean you left off the game against the team we played tonight. Want to know how many we scored in that game? 10 points. 10. At least try to come as close as you can to comparing apples to apples.

I'll compare to the team that we play every year. It looks a lot like last year. In fact, just like last year. It was embarrassing last year too if you recall. The difference: MacCarney has been on the job less than about 9 months and hasn't coached 1 game... Dodge had been coaching at UNT for 3 1/2 years. I'm willing to give MacCarney at least 3 1/2 years before I start calling it embarrassing. Did it cross anyone's mind that maybe Kansas St. had a bad defense? Or that that team in Miami that we play every year has a pretty good one? So yes, I agree to beat FIU, we need better recruiting classes and better O-line and D-line. And, I agree that it will take time.

Interesting? Maybe. Surprising? Not really. Maybe the reason they are not "highly regarded" is because it is early. I am assuming "highly regarded" is interchangeable with, "Being recruited heavily by Autobid 6 schools".

CBL also failed to mention that we play in the Sun Belt Conference. Short of nearly running the Out of Conference table, our conference mates RPI will not help us to get a bid outside of the one we get in Hot Springs. The road to the NCAA for the Sun Belt at this time rolls through a 3-4 game winning streak in Hot Springs.

Appears to be a nice Camera. Good tour of the stadium. Good documentary footage of it being built. Looks to be a good time investment. There are 2 positions that touch the ball every play on offense. Center and QB. Not surprised.

At least get rid of that stupid logo if you didn't go there. You'll be trying to hard to fit in at UNT. Grab a UNT shirt or hat, and become college football's cubs fan. It's a shit load more respectable than being a "'canes" fan that never went there. I used to be a UT fan when I was little and grew up in Austin, until I went to UNT. I'd like to see Texas do well until they became too hard to root for, not unlike Miami now. Just some Words from the wise.

Any advice from anyone remotely associated with Miami is likely bad advice. The glitz and glory of Miami is gone. It's obvious those championships were a sham. I don't know why anyone wants to hang on to it.
