  1. This thread is the reason I like basketball.
  2. It's fun for fans to realize that what they have an opportunity to watch this year doesn't happen very often. Let people get excited about it. It's nothing but good for the team.
  3. Baylor fans are more nutz for Perry Jones III than UNT fans over Mitchell.
  4. Still a complete embarrassment for the conference. Both coaches didn't say anything. The Refs didn't know what was going on until after the horn and when they found out they didn't give a damn. I'm more pissed than WKU fans because they've been kicked in the balls so much they stopped paying attention a long time ago, or just chalk it up as another kick in the balls. I know it's hard to make calls in real time, but you have to get the easy stuff right. Or at least correct it to make it right. It's like watching my nephew's tee-ball game where they don't keep score, tap their watches after Playing60 and pat each kid on the head and tell them they tried real hard. That's pathetic and a complete joke.
  5. I think MTSU is as good as advertised, but I kinda saw them as being a solid team top to bottom, not necessarily one guy who is just killing it. But, I've only watched them play a couple of times on TV.
  6. Fair assessment at this point, but I don't think UALR is really better than us. That game made me really angry.
  7. We just proved that we are.
  8. If you want a paint defender 4 inches taller than Franklin, you should be wanting Alonzo Edwards and Tony Mitchell. We get it -- If you think Franklin plays out of position because of his height, Niko and Holmen also play out of position because of theirs. Some people have the tools to play at their height in the paint, and others don't.
  9. The ones for Troy not named Tim Owens...
  10. A 6'7" 230lbs Alonzo Edwards is a damn good start. Franklin + Tony isn't a bad option. Tony stops with the stupid fouls outside the paint and he's fine. Like I said, Niko is a fine outside defender with quick hands, but I'm more comfortable with someone who won't get shoved around in the paint. There aren't many teams that are as small as Troy this year.
  11. I'm not the one you should be telling that to. Some of our fans can't take constructive criticism unless it comes with a check.
  12. 6'9" Tim Owens is averaging 5 points a game for Troy. I don't know who else they played at post. 6'6" Ray Chambers? 6'4" Steven Cunningham? There's a reason that Troy likes shooting 3 pointers. And it's not because Niko is an insurmountable inside presence. Don't get me wrong, I like Niko's active hands, but if he's going to be our best paint defender, I'm concerned.
  13. The pit is actually a pretty decent facility to watch basketball in. I was unimpressed with the Frank Irwin center in Austin. It has some things I wish we did like video boards and suites, but as far as seating goes, I feel like the pit has more seats right on top of the court with better viewing angles. Also, it won't be long before someone comes here to tell all of you to donate more money and stop making upgrade suggestions.
  14. I saw that at the top of the roster sheet too and laughed. I saw 7-16 over the last 5 from 3. Close, but still Not 50%. He's shooting no better than 14% inside the arc over those same games.
  15. His shot Finally showed up tonight. It's about damn time too. Hope he can keep that hot shooting going.
  16. Might have been an OSU fan. If I were them, I would have expected a lot more out of them.
  17. Word was we were in a game with TTU until they found out Tony would be available. Then they wanted to move the game back to Lubbock earlier in the year. It would have been their home game, so you can't really blame them too much for moving it up in the year and out of Dallas to play us without Tony. It's cheap, but a smart move. SMU has some really nice young players. Jalen Jones looked pretty good, but I want to say that might be the best he's played all year. Their inside presence, Cunningham, had some really, really nice moves and made a big impact, I thought. They were coached well, and performed surprisingly well especially in the crucial points. They just got Keeton Page'd. Something we should be all too familiar with.
  18. How much do you know about Niko pre-UNT? Specifically from outside? His stroke seems smooth and he shows the ball a lot from 3pt range, but usually as a ruse to get past a defender. (hardly ever works, because no one bites).
  19. Trying to get a point of reference to properly frame your expressed opinions. I'll read the bad posts with the good. It gives context to conversation. I'll continue to read them and ask for clarification if I don't understand them. Besides, where else am I going to get updates on women's basketball?
  20. Why do you gently, backhandedly, passive agressively hate men's basketball, or johnny jones, or it's fans? I don't get it.
  21. That explains your love for Holmen.
  22. It could be any number of things. Some worse than others. All we have is speculation.
  23. We have too many guys with a hole in some part of their game. Walton: Poor percentage, poor defense. Has earned less minutes. Holmen: Missed 2 wide open 3s against New Orleans and sat for it. Poor percentage. Good at Free Throws. Played his way into less minutes. J Williams: Looks like a freshmen still (turnovers) with flashes of Sweet Goodness. Norris: Highest 3pt% on the team. Needs work on defense. More minutes. Niko: Has earned more minutes. Split with J. Williams. Jones: Sweet Goodness with flashes of looking like a freshmen (turnovers). A Williams: 2nd Highest 3pt% on the team. Best Free Throw shooter. More minutes.
