  1. No, He's not referring to us (UNT) vs Charlotte. He's likely referring to a florida school or someone else in the east. Our division (assuming there is 4) probably wouldn't stretch much past Louisiana. The schools involved in that would probably contain some of the following: Rice, Tulsa, La Tech, Tulane or perhaps UTEP. We really need to stop assuming that our position in this thing is in question. UNT is in a vastly different position than it was 9-10 years ago when CUSA expanded last. Not everything everyone says about this merger has to do with UNT, especially from a team as far East as ECU. There are a LOT of moving parts in this deal. My assumption is ECU is frustrated because a lot of those Eastern teams close to them are just not viable options currently to be in the same conference as ECU. And ECU has no one to blame but those schools which they campaign for that cannot impress the search committees.
  2. I'm going to throw up if Petrino gets the Saints interim HC job for the year.... Some other names that were thrown out by GoMeanGreen1999, who is very interested in Arkansas Football: Butch Davis, Randy Shannon, Derrick McGee.
  3. I dunno, you think he would leave Missouri?
  4. 3 month buyout? Is that what's left on Petrino's contract? Wouldn't that contract be breached by him having a prohibited relationship with an employee? If you are talking about the buyout clause for Ark. St and Mahlzahn's contract, I don't know if Mahlzahn will be the replacement. But if he is, I'd imagine the buyout would be for the rest of the length of his contract. I'm not sure what was signed, but probably closer to 3 years rather than 3 months.
  5. I don't know how clearer anyone on this board can be: For there to be an offer from Kentucky or some other "better" school than LSU, there has to be an opening. Syracuse, Kentucky, Louisville, Duke, North Carolina, Michigan State, etc. already have coaches, and coaches that they are very content with. There's no possible combination of records Johnny Jones can get next year, short of a Final Four appearance and one of those schools winning a total of 5 games all year, that will make one of those teams ditch the guy they have and offer Johnny Jones a contract. It's just not happening. I see Johnny Jones being 1 of 2 places in the next 5 years regardless of his record. North Texas or Louisiana State.
  6. If I had to guess, all invites and announcements would come out on the same day. There's just too many moving pieces involved to do it any other way.
  7. I'm a pretty big college football fan. My college football consciousness started somewhere in 2001-2002. Until I heard we were interested in Mac, I had no idea who he was. 97and03 can look down his nose at me all day long, and I am nude to his accusations. I'm an idiot and a terrible fan. I'd be willing to bet most college football fans still don't know who coach Mac is. It's a big world, and for some reason, players are more notable in college football than coaches.
  8. There's no talk because there's really nothing to talk about. Decisions on UNT have probably already been made. There is no need for UNT Athletics or the administration to talk about seeking out a new conference, and plenty of reason for them to keep their mouths shut until there is a clearer picture of the MWC/CUSA landscape. Does Vito need to ask questions? He could be, and no one's talking. And when no one's talking, there really isn't a story to be written.
  9. Seriously... Some people aren't hearing whisperings of UNT moving, because they either aren't listening or aren't listening to the right people. Perhaps they aren't evaluating us, because we are already in...
  10. I really hope he has somewhere to land. Regardless of whether this staffer or Bobby Petrino gets fired, I'd be looking for the first ticket to GTFO. This guy is on the rawest end of the deal.
  11. Fox 4 reported it was done. LSU board "insiders" saying JJ is done? I guess it's still early in this process, and we'll have to wait and see.
  12. Who is, honestly? There hasn't been anything happening in this whole mess for close to 3-4 months now.
  13. I'm willing to bet this thread isn't close to the creepiest thing to have ever occurred.
  14. Is there really still any doubt we'll get in?
  15. Welcome to the board. The post you quoted is dripping with facetiousness and sarcasm. That said, you drink no matter what happens? Oh, the horror.
  16. After thinking a little more on this, I don't think he was necessarily encouraged to leave, but he may have been under extra pressure in the coming season or 2 considering how long he had been at tcu. Couple the tougher conference, with losing a couple components to this years' team and he may have felt that he had to make the first move with an opportunity to take over a program like Ohio and his wife being from there. It makes sense to me now.
  17. Bah, good catch. Makes more sense to me now... That's what I get for trying to read quickly.
  18. I'm really surprised. - Comparable money. - TCU was just getting good in the MWC. - His wife went to TCU. He's a good coach, I just don't know what sent him to Ohio. - Fan support? - Fear of the Big 12? - Wanted to get back to Ohio?
  19. Tons of seniors and upperclassmen on that team next year. Sultan, Knight, Massey and Cintron will all be seniors. It might be like us losing Tramiel and having all of our seniors returning last year.
  20. I knew it'd be tough to keep him, but I was real interested in seeing him here. I know he will do well. He'd have to wait it out a year here to get a scholly.
  21. Been there. Really nice arena. Surprisingly tiny for how much they spent. Anyone who has been to summit, it's like that, but with the second level stacked on top of the first if you brought the walls in to the walkway. I bet that place gets loud. Pit feels more big time tho.
  22. Keep in mind that we may be missing 3-4 starters from next years team right now. Any lineup tweaking and chemistry building may have to be redone to start next season.
  23. Somehow wku gets by us after we have a 13 point lead on them and everyone wants to model them? They went to the sweet 16 with some terrific 3 pt shooting, but that was 4 years ago. The past for them doesn't mean anything to me. They are still in the belt and still had to get by us. I don't want to model them, I want to beat them. Our worst enemy when trying to "schedule up" is our own damn conference. To find winnable games in ooc we try to get tech (our worst loss this season for rpi) and lsu at home. We can't control how much better lsu got or how bad tech got. All we can do is beat them, and we didn't. If we had, then I could see complaining about the out of conference scheduling. We got into a tourney with loyola and Columbia. Played Texas, miss st, uta. All stout but we should be competitive and beat one of them if we are serious about improving SOS to include more teams like them. Nothing kills momentum and programs like losing. Against anyone. Sam Houston is normally better than they were this year and we struggled to beat them. Look at western. They lost to iupui. You think their fans were upset about having iupui on the schedule, or that they couldn't beat iupui? They are dancing with a bunch of freshmen, and it should have been us, almost was. With a bunch of freshmen and new comers. Having to play Jackson state, gambling, and st Gregory's didn't help, but what ultimately kept us from advancing where we are this year from where we were last year was losing to wku with an entirely different team than last year. It's not bad but it was a disappointment. And I don't want any 2 for 1s just to get big names in the pit. Because then you end up with a schedule like football has this year, when absolutely every commitment you have comes due in the same year. The best way to get good teams to have to come to the pit on a regular basis is to change conferences. God bless, I hope that happens, I can't take anymore of ulm. Probably close to 10% of our rpi is just because we had to play them twice.
  24. Heading to Houston next weekend. Have a brother that has a house in the heights. Always a giant party no matter if there's a football game or not. I'll be there for sure. Maybe Monroe. Probably not going to make any other road trips unless we make a bowl.
