Post what you were referring to. Also, for such a Marquette follower, you sure seem eager to unload benford. Why?
-
Buzz Williams had head coaching experience prior to Marquette if I am not mistaken. I think you might not know how well thought of Fran is in the area and in the international community. In my opinion, both options are high powered recruiters. One has head coaching experience.

ESPN Blog: Fran strong candidate for UNT job
MeanMag replied to KoldBeer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Just relax fellas. Don't worry. Everything will come down and be sorted out real soon. -
Some of this may be driven by Afa thinking long and hard about their move. This might be why the last 2 cusa candidates are takin a while. I think we are fine no matter what happens.

Also that's the second article I've seen on sbnation that appears to be just wild ass guesses to me. I bet they pay writers per word like bleacher report too.
-
All of this is really conjecture and spitballing. I'm sorry too Cooley, I don't know much about mr maisonet but if we are linking to lists by someone covering either Houston or Atlanta basketball and former writer for bleacher report, I'm more apt to think there are people on this board that know better what is happening in this program. In short, I don't think that guy knows what he is talking about. If he had posted that he called those coaches and found out that's one thing... We are getting ourselves all spun up just like the conference realignment situation.

If we really want to be able to land recruits from the metro area like we say we do, him living in Dallas might not be such a bad thing...
-
Ok. Looks like you have to have espn insider. It's under the rumor central heading. It still looks like bullsh to me tho. Just a guess.
-
Ugh... Where's the Espn link? Right now it looks like we link to tiger droppings which claims to be linked to Espn which claims to have heard from a Lsu blog which claims to have read tigers droppings. Pretty flimsy at this point.

In terms of landing men's basketball coaches, SMU thumped TCU

Mac Engel sucks. -
You young whippersnappers are gonna make me change message boards... You and all your dang optimisms.
-
HAH! I guess we'll see. All we know is that Scott Cross can recruit the area. UNT, SMU and TCU are up in the air. I can guarantee right now that Larry Brown's record isn't going to be worth his money. He's still at SMU.

It does...

Friday Afternoon UNT BBall Coaching Update
MeanMag replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Vito writing a blog post is the equivalent of posting on a message board like this one. Lots of people post stuff. This information is tons better than other people posting about out of context twitter updates. -
This is twitter. http://bit.ly/I72xML

Stop worrying about players leaving. If they don't like it here they will leave. If they like it here and are having fun with each other, they have an opportunity to be a special team. And they might even like the new coach. No one knows right now. It Is an irrational fear.

Are we against going to other tournaments?
MeanMag replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Crazy, Texas already has a crazy good group of talent coming in... BTW isn't this the second year in a row that Houston has a Top 25 recruiting class? -
Bingo.

There's nothing that says we can't wait. If we are in this new conference, and something tells me we are, our tv package is going to be better than the sunbelt. So whichever one of these schools can deliver the most market share, should be the next one in. If they can deliver a bowl game, even better. Utsa is probably the only real choice. Hell, I'd rather drive to San Antonio or San Marcus than el paso.

Of course he has a short list and I'll bet he's working every angle he can.

Isaiah Thomas. Was fired for sucking and generally not giving a crap during his tenure. Probably also had people he did not get along with professionally.

Reached my quota for the day, otherwise +1. This board isn't as candy-heaven and sweet as some on other boards make it out to be. No one was happy losing 18 point leads, or to some terrible RPI teams. But, I think in totality, we understood there is always a chance with the teams he put together and with this program that he has built. I've liked some of the guys that post over there that used to post here, but I guess they couldn't express their true opinions here for fear of getting banned? Or perhaps, they just needed like-minded individuals only, and heads would explode if someone liked something. It just seems like a perpetuating spiral of depression over there, dwelling on the same things people have always had issues with. Doesn't mean they aren't issues, just some people tend to move past negatives and look at positives and it seems they support each others negativity. It might be a half-empty, half-full mindset, but some on other boards seem to be truly spiteful and venomous of some over here, and I just don't understand it. I thought we were trying to support and get to the same place as a fan-base. I will say tho, I am happy to hear some of the guys that slowed their posting here are still posting somewhere, because if they weren't, I'd be concerned that they stopped supporting, and that's not good for anyone, especially the athletes.

Tony's Mom says he is still staying
MeanMag replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I've heard the Strength of Schedule argument for a while from Coach Jones detractors. Even LSU JJ haters brought it up on their board when pointing to our records. The response was this from one of their fans: 2012: LSU #236 (11-6); North Texas #281 (9-7) 2011: LSU #336 (out of 345) (8-8); North Texas #300 (14-3) 2010: LSU #242 (9-6); North Texas #189 (11-4) 2009: LSU #252 (14-4); North Texas #204 (9-5) Now, I'm not going to debate that our strength of schedule has been bad, but if we were to make up for the in conference schedule with our out of conference schedule, we'd have gotten murdered. As it was, we held our own when compared to LSU. This shows how LSU schedules and what being in a decent basketball conference does for you. You can play real good RPI teams on our home floor, and they can't dodge it. It also shows just how far LSU had fallen, and how our success, JJ's success, however you want to diminish it wasn't a mirage. It also runs contrary to the belief that JJ only cared about Hot Springs. And, it certainly isn't meant to be an excuse for being just above .500 in conference many seasons. We've all been disappointed with conference stretches the past couple of years, simply because we know these athletes are better and can do better than the records indicated. We've set fairly high expectations on this program going forward that weren't there before, and it's because of JJ, not in spite of him. Our next coach needs to be a person that can continue and push past where we're at now. -
Great post. Well put.

Vito has already been putting in overtime on this stuff, I assure you.
