He mentioned Berglund about 3-4 weeks ago on the coaches show. I think it was after the Troy game. Was very high on him then too. It didn't sound like that to me, although the last time they spent this much time talking about the guys in the stables was after Troy.

I'd be more than a little surprised if berglund isn't the heavy favorite going into preseason workouts. If he's not, another qb has certainly stepped up their game.

Thanks for posting this. I was unaware this had been tied up. Last I heard this was a go and approved. -

Sooo are we still against coach Mac's rush heavy offense?
MeanMag replied to D-ry's topic in Mean Green Football
+1 to this. Our WR depth is a little lacking at this point. But, we are compensating well at this point in the season. TheColonyEagle makes some great points too. Our offense has changed a little bit since the beginning of the season. Backs: Our 3 play making running backs are being used in different ways. More screens, reverses and wildcat to get them involved more. They've been more involved in the passing game than they were before (maybe because of the lack of WR depth) or because they're just damn good backs that can make a guy miss and it's nice to have the WR down field that can block. Our TEs are at full strength and while they haven't been involved directly in moving they ball, they are very involved in moving the ball. By that I mean, their down field blocking is springing backs. It's really nice to have a bigger body than a WR in the midrange game and a faster body than a typical O lineman, but also someone that can sneak out with good hands as a WR as well. It makes the LBs respect them more, and they can block said LBs if need be from just about anywhere on the field a LB would be. Power coming back has been really nice. We use some of our TEs as very utilitarian Full Backs. Something that seems to be rare to me at the college level anymore. O Line: I've read for a while that pass blocking is kinda boring for O linemen. They like pulling, pinching, run blocking schemes that give them a chance to hit the defense. It would make sense then, to me, that good O linemen would want to play in a run heavy offense because there's more opportunity for them to take the fight to those defensive linemen that are trying to sneak past them. Those of you who have been O linemen can correct me if I am wrong on this point. Finally, Our Run Heavy scheme: As someone mentioned before, our run heavy scheme is something that defenses aren't accustomed to. Most defenses don't take into account a 3-4 TE set where a large body pass catcher is something to look out for. I can see a scenario in the future where a heavy running game will come back into favor. But, for now, it seems that if a team can do run well, they can catch some other teams outmatched personnel wise. -
Consistency is usually the last thing that comes to a young team. Hopefully when Mac told this team to grow up, they took it to mean for longer than 1 half of football. I really hope they can carry over what they figured out in the 2nd half of that Lafayette game. One aspect of our team that has been VERY impressive to me since coach Mac has taken over is the consistency in the turnover category. We haven't been screwing ourselves out of very many opportunities or giving the other team very many by committing stupid turnovers. With how much we run and the age of our young backs, they should be recognized for getting the most basic rule of football right; Don't let go of the football.

Congrats for doing what you're supposed to?

The other problem is that the chart is off topic since the school originally being discussed is not on it.

But, but but... UNT people can't go to TCU. Froggy dude is a boob with a hard on for UTSA. It's a good thing I've spent plenty of time at TCU and have friends from there to know they aren't all dumber than @#$%.

How bout a game of basketball?

I'd bet they go 100% in gym pickup games throughout the summer. These guys play basketball and dunk on the regular. It's what they do. Just let them do what they do with what they were given for our enjoyment and theirs. It'd be nothing more than bad luck if one got hurt. They could just as easily get hurt in practice. In fact, at least in a dunk contest, you don't have to worry about landing on another persons foot and rolling an ankle under the basket.

Work with a former Southwest Texas State basketball player. He still calls it Southwest Texas State and says it always will be Southwest Texas State to him. He was upset they changed the name. As he put it, he played for and graduated from a school that doesn't exist any longer. They offered to give him a new degree for $80. There are still people that call us North Texas State because there are people with degrees that still say North Texas State on them.

A couple of weeks ago Coach Mac on the Coach Mac Show who is our head football coach was asked about how good our quarterbacks were at quarterbacking and who he thought was going to start next year for the Mean Green of the University of North Texas. He really didn't talk about anyone but Brock and how well he thought he would press for the starting job next year. I'd say there's pretty much a tryout between him and DT right now, and that Brock is winning. DT needs to pick it up. A little competition can be a good thing for both DT and Brock.

It was very surprising to see how little fans turned out for that game. Can't blame the weather either. We've been not very good for a while and we get that many to a game.

What's the shoulder issue? I really hope that issue wasn't around a few months ago...

A little from column A and a little from column B.

This post is the cap to the best week I've ever experienced on GoMeanGreen.com. The internet is sometimes too powerful for me to handle.

I had a great time in Houston. Always do. The game didn't go how I wanted it to play out, but I don't know that even meangreener and the King of cougars could have out Houston'd me this weekend.

I'm not going to pretend that in this large world and the many football coaches of the past and future that there isn't someone better for the job than coach Mac, even with UNT's budget. The odds are simply against that statement. But, aside from him angering the piss outta me going into halftime against Houston, I do like the man and we aren't a school in a position to go through coaches like underwear because of our budget.

I was goin to let you buy me a beer, but you said you were 20, so you agreed to just give me money. I bought plenty of beer yesterday. Surprised you didn't get any.

Lol, what are you going to do? Write words on the Internet? Seriously, what more could YOU possibly do?

I don't. At all.
