LSU fan with a question about Johnny Jones

I'd take carmouche. -
Well, I don't know, but it looks to me support continued to increase during that time. I don't know if the growth would have been larger, but we've afforded it and moved conferences since then. Those years sucked.

Then are we having trouble switching from uptempo to slow tempo? -
Cj's game has some growing up to do, but I think he's top 30 in the country in steals. He's got upsides just needs to fix a couple things.

1 of our 2 wins over a team currently >.500

Someone cropped it too high.

Those numbers tell the tale. Offense: 300 in assists/game. 258 in assists/turnover ratio. 331 in effective field goal %. 19 in FGs attempted. 17 in rebounding Defensively pick a stat: Most on the high side of the 200s, some in the 300s. We are rebounding decently. We just don't have any defenders, which is very odd to me since we seem to be more athletic than any team we play. The only thing I can think of is we are out of position? Offensively, We are one dimensional. We have no one that can get the ball to the interior for high % shots with teams packing it in because of poor 3pt%. We take poor % shots (for us) and don't make the extra pass to get an easier one.

FIU is the one i reference. I've been to all of the home games sans a couple this year because of prior commitments, and will miss at least 1 more due to another. Went to them all last year. I've watched the MTSU, Creighton and WKU games. I think there may have been one or 2 more that have been televised on ESPN 3. I ask because I'm usually not able to judge effort if I am not there. Since you were talking about effort, I thought you could have shared what you saw. There is no way anyone here can absolve the players of poor effort. There might be reasons/things on and off the court that may be having an affect on their game on any given night. Who knows? I think it was John Wooden who said, "I can teach effort or I can teach basketball, but you guys pick which one because I can't teach them both." I think we are struggling with both right now.

Lsu Losing to an opponent on their home floor? Sorry about your winning records gamecocks and tigers. It must suck to be that bad. South Carolina is a D1 school still right? Question no info. -
UNT to be another player short tonight

Does it take a certified pilot to tell you that the pilot at the controls has been a career co-pilot or that an engine is out and his last few landings have been less than spectacular? I don't care how he does it or who does it. I just care about the end result and that I'm on the ground on time, safely, with no broken bones, and that my lunch is still in my stomach. It's like Todd Dodge saying after a 70 point loss that a QB made the right reads and graded out properly and that the offensive play calling was flawless. Ask Tasty how we are going to win against FIU and he will humbly tell you, "Score more points". You take it as him being a smart ass, I take it as him saying "How the F should I know? That's not my job". He can tell you who's killed us in the past, and maybe how they've done it, but he doesn't pretend to be a coach. -

Are you saying you've been in the trenches? Or you know someone who has and that's where you get your information? Can you use your connections to get us an update on Jacob Holmen's head? K thanx. -

Seem to remember one of the guys he got in here (Tristan Thompson) that set some record (Was it SunBelt or National?) for consecutive free throws made. Also he was very good at getting to the line. Ability to draw and make free throws kept us in a lot of conference games the past few years. -
Agreed. Benford was more assertive on offense, and I saw him making the play calls at times from the bench. But, this was players doing the most crucial thing they can possibly do to ice a game down the stretch and push a lead even further: making free throws. It's amazing how your "luck" can change when you simply do the simple things. Still problems with boxing out. Coleman was in position a couple times and made bad decisions giving up rebounds. Gotta get that corrected. Also, Alzee got shots to drop. Seemed like he and PJ were really taking their time on shots and seeing the basket well.

That fair weather fan is just the type of person we need to be converting to die hard, and it isn't going to be done by guilting them, or badgering them into submission. It's going to come by being competitive on our own floor. We should be making them feel at home.

Is this board really that infectious? Can we blame a few posters on a board for all of our issues? I do know that attendance has been up even for dodge in football, and basketball attendance is still there. I saw a pretty good crowd at the womens game the other day. I'm assuming there hasn't been a drop off in donations, and would be willing to say I'd expect they went up. That would seem to indicate that this forum doesn't really have a negative or positive influence on donations and support despite the comments on bad basketball. Otherwise, we can say that johnny jones's success and the tourney trips and increases in attendance and donations over the past decade to 15 years for all sports has been solely attributed to this fine board that Harry owns and operates. And, that he and his merry moderators are far more responsible for the success and failure of unt athletics than the people in the offices off of Bonnie brae and union circle. That, my friends, would be hilarious. It's not accurate though, right? Surely we go mean greeners aren't the only donors to the program... Surely our fan base extends beyond the usual 40-50 users posting regularly on this message board, right? Question no info.

Let's get specific here. No more royal "theys". I want to know which poster you think "can't complain because they didnt vote".

More assists than the previous 9 games. Jordan and Niko were efficient and made the extra pass when necessary.

Smug.

I agree that tony isn't a go to guy and the sooner benford figures it out the better. That said, we didn't have one guy we leaned on last year more than others. We didn't have a great year last year maybe because of that, but we certainly weren't this bad.

I don't understand, there are early termination clauses built into just about every contract, especially coaches. Anything done prior to the end of the stated length of the contract is typically identified in no unspecified terms in the contract. Thus, the contract would be honored even if he was fired 1 day after both parties agreed to sign it, because it is a legal document and outlines that process. Length and amount of money are important parts of the contract, but not the only parts. Things change over the course of 5 years and both parties can't foresee what's going to happen. Do you honor the length of your phone agreement, even when it may be cheaper to pay the penalty and switch companies to get a free phone and cheaper monthly terms from another? Do you not refinance your house when rates go down? It's an economic decision, not an emotional one. I don't know where that tradeoff occurs, but it's there, and Rick had better be evaluating that for all of our coaches, because it's his job to.
